According to the FAQ, you get an extra character point each time you promote a kit. I think that's brilliant.

So you can get something like 66666 builds?  Hmmm.

So you're obliged to promote if you want to play the character at his full potential ? Hmmm.

Yeah this sucks badly. Good thing I won't be playing that game.

That sounds like quite a bad idea to me but I've never played any Dragon Age games so maybe it'll work.

So, the more you play, the more powerful you become?  I am not sure I am a fan of an end-game progression system like that.  But then again, Mass Effect 3 kind of works that way, in term of the Ultra Rare unlocks...

But then I would have to promote classes other than the 3 useless ones that don't have any quarians...

I'd rather have a suit rupture in a bioweapons factory.

At least at first glance, I like it. In ME3MP, an 84 point build is solid, so it's not like kits would suck without promotions. And progression to 90, 100, 126 point builds (assuming even possible) would be pretty slow. My understanding is that there will be less kit classes (3 vs 6?) so you wouldn't be diluting your efforts as much.

Not really a fan of it.

I appreciate that they're trying to give promoting some kind of benefit, but I don't really like the idea of trying some kind of in-game advantage to it. It makes it feel less optional that way, and they already have character progression in time sink format thanks to the gear grind.

Yeah not a fan.

You shouldn't be able to max every power in a particular build.

I would rather see a percent increase in the drop rate of items with each promotion. That would have made grinding URs a little less of a grind.

I'm starting to get real tired of all this crap that's supposed to artificially create an incentive to continue playing. Give us a goddamn game that is worth our attention, focus on that, instead of junk like this.

I don't pre-order on principle, but I canceled it anyway.

Wouldn't doubt it if you have to pay to promote...

Promoting sucks. And since RNG is making a return, this is gonna be more of a grind.

Yes, I love promoting. Now we can actually get rewarded for promoting the kits instead of just pointless N7 points that did not mean anything at all, I think this is awesome news for everyone. DA:I & ME4 will both be great games if they stick closely to the ME3 MP formula with just minor tweaking to some of the ME3 MP issues.

It's not awesome news for people who don't care for promoting.

Bioware take note: this is not a feature that should be implemented in ME4 mp. Part of the fun about the meta-game is creating unique builds for characters, which in turn can completely change the way a character could be played compared to another build. Taking that away by allowing everyone to have completely maxed out characters is just....no...biowerpls.

Prepare OP'd builds. It's not even a build anymore once the character is maxed. 6/6/6/6/6 destroys replay value.

Well maybe they will care a little bit now. I can understand the reasoning behind not promoting in ME3 MP because it is pointless and unrewarding but for DA:I your kit becomes more powerful beyond what is possible without promoting until a certain amount of promotions is achieved at which point they can stop promoting their kits and continue not caring about promotions like they do now. This is a great way to force players into trying different builds instead of sticking to a permanent one dimensional build forever like the the promotion haters do.

I wouldn't care for promoting even if they gave me ultra-rare items for it. I would do it, but I wouldn't like it.

I like character progression, but I don't like reverting my characters back to the beginning so I can do the same progression all over again.

Respec cards are a much better answer to that. I hate promoting but I use a LOT of respec cards.

It is not like you need to promote forever, for example if you get 84 points without promotion and in order to max your kit you need 105 points so you will need to promote that kit 21 times to max it out, each time making your kit slightly stronger than before. This is a rewarding process and makes the kits feel like the UR weapons of ME3 MP but without the frustrating RNG store to slow us down.

I like promoting but yeah I preferred respec cards over promoting as well and always felt promoting should be more rewarding than respec cards since promoting requires starting from level 0 as opposed to just having the points unassigned with the respec cards. Well now with DA:I they have done exactly what I always wanted and I am very grateful for that.

That's about the total number of times I promoted in 2 and a half years of Mass Effect 3. It being a "rewarding process" doesn't make it any better.

In fact as I first posted, that actually makes it worse because now it feels like I have to promote or else have a crippled character.

21 times is a colossal chore. The more hardcore players would enjoy promoting, like yourself, but that's just not a reality for the majority of us.

Actually, the only good reward I can think of when it comes to promoting is what if after you promoted a class you got the ability to create alt characters of that class? Ex: If I promoted my infiltrators, I essentially get a second set of infiltrators so now I can have 2 different builds of each infiltrator and now I don't have to scramble for more reset cards. The more you promote the more alts you unlock. The need for reset cards is still there, but now it's not the only means without promoting to build a character differently. I could have my standard GI build, a melee build, some other weird build etc, and can choose on a whim what type of GI I want to play.
