Bioware take note: this is not a feature that should be implemented in ME4 mp. Part of the fun about the meta-game is creating unique builds for characters, which in turn can completely change the way a character could be played compared to another build. Taking that away by allowing everyone to have completely maxed out characters is just....no...biowerpls.

This right here please. The elements of choice and opportunity costs in character coustomization is what makes rpgs. I don't want another dark souls two where you will have all stats at 99 eventually, which makes your stat choices, and your starting class not matter.

There's nothing in the faq that suggests you can use promotions to max out a DAI kit or that a max kit won't still be specialized. Maybe promotions bonuses will stop after 10 or 15. Maybe power trees will be much more branched. Previous Dragon Age games had much more diverse skill trees and power trees than Mass Effect ever had.

After all, don't forget that even in ME3MP a 5*6 build is lacking 1/3 of evolutions.

Anyway, we're gonna see.

Using skills is the only thing players can do in DA:O & DA2, all the rest is done for them automatically. In ME, players have to move around, take cover (if they are cowards), aim, shoot, headbutt, reload and so forth AND use special abilities. I really hope DA:I gives us more control over our characters so there's a little more to do than clicking / selecting the target for our character to (auto) attack and deciding when to use one of their special abilities or drink a potion.

Teamwork was the key to success in the previous DA games: have your Tank draw aggro so your Mage can unleash hell from safety whilst your Rogue back-stabbed the lot etc etc. This is the heart and soul of DA combat mechanics - and relies completely on having access to characters with evolved skill trees.

The way I see it, promotions are bad for the player who does just that (doing nothing but selecting the next target to auto-attack is boring as hell); and for his or her teammates (without special abilities it becomes more or less impossible to play the tank-role, or assassin, or elemental mage or whatever). I fail to see the point of encouraging people to make matters worse for themselves and their teammates, that's just plain stupid.

Another one would be popularity of its analogues and classic MMOs, something DA may or may not be considered to be similar to.

Back in DAO days we used to call that game "WoW Offline"...

Not sure if you're onto something here, but I can see what you're implying here, considering that entire DAIMP premise sounds to me pretty much like it's "let's spam instances from newer gen MMOs" kind of thing.

I think I'm starting to repeat myself though...
