Jack Wall
These sublime sounds put you goosebumps

Also this one is amazing, from Jack Wall I believe:

A good candidate is probably Harry Gregson Williams. I believe he did alot of the Metal Gear Solid music and he knows how to make great emotional tracks.
Here is a good example: https://www.youtube....r8WslV4cEw#t=62
Would never happen, but Martin O'donnell.
Well, who knows actually, it might be possible that Bungie let him go.
^He was fired from Bungie a while back. Apparently, the team did not really like him.
The person who did the Deus Ex: Human Revolution score
Personally, I enjoyed the music of ME 1 & 2 waaay more than I did 3. 3 just had a kind'a funky town vibe to it, ya know? I felt like 70's dancers were gonna come out. Whereas 2 was more techno/house. 1 was just awesome.
I'm talking about the music that can be played in your cabin.
If they bring in a celebrity composer again, M83 would be a good choice. Some of the tracks from the Oblivion OST sounded like they could have been in a Mass Effect game.

He did an amazing job with the Halo games & Destiny.
Prolly not because of the vocals, but damn would this be great:
Skrillex ofcourse. ![]()
Skrillex ofcourse.
Skrillex for the main score? hmm

Good!
I would be happy with something along the vibe of this too.
Bring in Hanz Zimmer!!!

I like this one a lot. It will fit perfectly for Mass Effect.
The song you shared reminded me of this.
Sam and Jack are a must, and the others that participated in the ME1 score. The music for ME3 was great and emotional, but it fell flat overall in creating a SciFi atmosphere.. That is not necessarily the composers fault though. i don't know what they had been told to create. ME3 hardly felt like it had anything to do with space, half of that is the music and the other half is well, the locations. ME2 had a mix of both good music and bleh.
The ME1 soundtrack set the tone the best. "Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence." The music should reflect that better.
Peak 15 anyone?

I know this is highly unlikely, but I'd actually like to see them move away from the classic electronic/synth music and towards something more instrumental. Since they want to focus more on exploration of the unknown – maybe something slightly western-y?
Ah, just hire Gustavo Santaolalla:

If you mean TLOU music style for NME, then that would work I guess, but only in a small parts of the game, not the entire game.

Does it have to do that?
Battlestar Galactica had an awesome soundtrack that was nothing like the music you usually hear in Scifi movies or tv-shows. Bear McCreary created a very unique soundtrack that was an integral part of the show.
It all depends on what the story and the mood of the game is.
YES TO Sam Hulick & Jack Wall all the way.
NOT Sascha Dikiciyan & Cris Velasco. I never liked their contributions, except for "Rannoch" from ME3.
NOT Christopher Lennertz. Generic cinematic music and Hans Zimmer-esque crap. His music never give the right vibes to me.
MAYBE Clint Mansell. When they announced he was gonna make ME3, I was hoping it would be something like "Sacrifice" from the movie, Moon 2009 which he composed for. Imagine having that OST over the Beam Run in ME3! I dislike his tune and motifs for "Leaving Earth" and "An End Once and For All". So obvious tearjerker and TOO emotionally manipulative and didn't feel enough like proper sci fi or Mass Effect music. So probably no.
Maybe Marty O'Donnel (ex-Bungie/Halo composer) . His electronic stuff has a great feel to it. I would love to hear what he could do with an entire game OST based on electronics and some simple melodic motifs that are similar to the ones made by Jack Wall and Sam Hulick for ME1 and ME2.
I just hope Bioware doesn't haul in some composer based on his Hollywood reputation or fame. I wanna hear sounds from composers who are interested in creating music that sounds like Sci fi and memorable heroic-sounding melodies. Not people who want to turn Mass Effect into the next Christopher Nolan blockbuster crap.

We are talking about the next Mass Effect which is suppose to be about exploring space again. If thats that case then the music style that was used in ME1 should be used again, not the style that was used in ME3 which was a different type.
Yes it does depend on the mood and story, the new style score suited ME3 very well because as i said, the game had very little to do with space so why should it need a spacey soundtrack. The reason why i said the score fell flat was because the score and game was flat in that regard, not because they failed to be SciFi but because they didnt try to be. ME1 is my favorite game and score so there is a little chip on my shoulder when talking about how they abandoned the things in Mass Effect i loved for well, straight up action and forced drama... ( and a new score that told this same story in music )
If i put on some ME1 music everyone will know instantly its Sci Fi, because it sounds like it. If i put on ME3 most of the music is lacking that vibe. The music should be telling the same story as the one you are experiencing visually. I want the next Mass Effect to be Sci Fi, therefore i want a Sci Fi score.
That new "BSG" music has nothing on the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica theme ![]()

Good Call out.
I would like to see someone like BT (Brian Transeau) be utilized. His music covers a lot of different genres but is primarily under the electronic/trance category. I highly recommend his album This Binary Universe and its "spiritual sequel" If the Stars Are Eternal So Are You and I. These are more down tempo, bordering on ambient music.
For more of his "upbeat" music:
... might be a huge fan of his ![]()
