So, I'm a total noobie at any sort of cosplay stuff. But I love attending the yearly medieval fair we have here locally and a lot of people who attend (and don't necessarily participate in the re-enactment stuff) dress up to look the part.

I'm working on putting together an Inquisitor rogue outfit for next year's event (end of January/beginning of February). I have zero talent for actually creating such things, so there won't be any recognizable dragon helmet or anything like that. The closest I'll be able to do is making a red sash upon which I'll paint in black the Inquisitor symbol. 'Tis why I'm going with a rogue - both because I love the class and because I can just acquire clothing that looks appropriate enough without breaking the bank or having to sew/mold/etc.

However, I am thinking about trying to do my Dalish elf that I have a mind to play through as first. Elf ear tips are easy enough to acquire, even at the fair itself as there's a booth for that every year. And, worst case scenario, I have long hair so I can always just hide my ears if I don't tip them (if I tip them, I'll rock a ponytail to show 'em off!). However, rolling Dalish means vallaslin.

Does anyone have recommendations on face paint or make-up that would do the trick, is easily removable (can't go to work the next day looking like that!), and would apply over sunscreen? The fair is outdoors and this is Florida, so I will fry unless I apply sunscreen first, but that may affect how well make-up/face paint works?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

I usually just take theatrical liquid paints and mix into a full coverage foundation.

Could also use eyeliner, I've used that for drawing on age lines.

But I just do costumes for Halloween.

Although the green body paint (liquid paint with foundation, set with a loose powder) did stay on in perfect condition for 6 hours.

Ben Nye makes a variety of coloured theatrical-grade paints that are easy to remove.

However, when you're using it, you'll want to obtain 'Final Seal', which is a setting mist that will keep your paint from sweating off while you're wearing it. It smells minty fresh!

Final Seal is awesome (and tingly)!  If you test it and it keeps coming off anyway you can apply Final Seal both before and after the makeup, apply several layers of the makeup and seal between each, or even mix some Final Seal into the makeup itself before you apply it.  I've also read that it's important to put on the sunscreen 20-30 minutes before you want to paint your face.  I've used liquid eyeliner for fake tattoos before and set them the same way as body paint.

Good luck :)
