If I have to put up with Cerby's bs, then so be it.
What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right? Oh, wait, it does kill us....
I nearly always search or (less often) host UUG.
On the rare occasions that I feel strong enough for Plat, I search UUP, but it's always Giant Reapers anyway.

I don't search for specific things unless I'm close to completing a challenge
(if I need to kill a few husks for reaper mastery I'll
search for reaperssee if anyone is hosting a Horde mode game)

If I happen to be hosting then what Pearl and JPN17 stated applies - always U/U/G or U/U/P unless someone requests a specific map or enemy. If the group sticks together I'll typically ask if anyone wants or needs a certain map or enemy.
I always search U/U, but I don't mind preset enemies or maps. I pug a lot, so that's typically what I run into - at least lately ... either preset enemy Geth or preset Giant/White/Reapers. For me, that's ok for a match or two - but after that I want something different. When pugging I'll typically stick with a lobby so long as they'll have me if my connection is good and the host is keeping it as U/U.

When hosting, Reapers/U 70% of the time, Collectors/U at 10%, Reapers/Giant 5% and U/U at 15%. Reapers games just feel fun.
Otherwise, if I join a lobby, I leave if pre-selected to Geth or Cerb.

I prefer Unknown Unknown. It seems more interesting to me.
When I run searches for random games depending on the setting I might stay or go. I am more likely to go if both the map and faction are selected, or if it is preset to Geth.

I almost never host but I look for U/U games most of the time. I will play games if there is a set lobby and enemy that is not one of the generic ones however.

I pretty much always search for U/U/G. Rarely, if I feel like an especially easy game, I with search U/Geth/G and play as the Paladin.
On Platinum, I never quick match. I always play with at least one friend and it is usually set to U/U/P. When we were going for map challenges, I threw a program together that would allow me to enable/disable maps and enemy factions at will and roll from among those still allowed. So we were presetting it, but still playing something random from among those not finished yet.
Hypothesis: on Plat, the worse players are looking for games preset to Giant or Rio or what have you, and tend to leave U/U games, while the better players are looking for U/U and may very well leave a preset game. So I would rather do U/U just to attract better players. (Note: I am not saying anyone who presets is bad; just that the bad players tend to want certain presets. I've seen plenty of weaker looking "I unlocked the Jugg, time to play Plat with my Phaeston I" people leave the lobby when it is U/U.

When searching, I go U/U, but when hosting, the map stays unknown, but I preset the faction and rotate between the four. This is solely because of phantoms and their on host bs.

U/U/G all day erry day unless:
1) A friend or myself need some waves on an underused map (looking at you FB Vancouver) for map mastery.
2) I recognize someone in the lobby. Be it a friend, a BSNer or just someone competent who I've played with before.
3) The lobby is uncannily preset to match my choice of kit. Like dropping into a FB Ghost/ Cerby game with a BW HMI or a Glacier/ Geth with a Warlord. Sure, it's a preset game but I ain't even mad. I'll leave after two games or so if the preset isn't changed though.

Both. I set maps more frequently now because if I don't I get White Hazard 50% of the time.

For me of late it's about 66.666...% Ghost Hazard. Previously a map I used to like. Not anymore. -.-

People seem to rage-quit a lot when I host, so I don't host anymore.
I always search for any/any, but what I really want is unknown/unknown. Too bad you can't actually search for that. I'll leave any preset lobby unless I recognize a BSN'er, but that's a rare occurrence.
Actually no - what I really want is to be able to search "unknown but not glacier hazard" / unknown. ME4 maybe?

I know what you mean. In WoW when queueing for Battlegrounds you can blacklist some of them. It'd be nice if you could do the same thing in ME3MP. It'd also be nice if you could blacklist certain hosts. (For a variety of reasons)

Exactly! Although WoW's blacklist was kinda buggy for me.

I'd love an "anything but hazards" button. I like the hazard maps but don't need to see them 50% of the time.

The best I've seen is Battlefield. In Battlefield 3 you can filter your search by selecting the maps and the gamemodes that you are willing to play, and the regions that the host can be in, along with stuff like how many people are in game etc.
Would be nice if EA would introduce someone from DICE to someone at Biovar. EA pls.

I prefer U/U/G - except for Dagger in a sandstorm, I just find that annoying.
In any case, presets take too long to fill a lobby these days...
