It has been more than a decade for me and for most people, who have been following and playing Bioware games. I have never really thought of Bioware as a company that actually took a lot of risk with their games. They have a tried and tested mantra and they follow it to the letter. It has worked and some of the best games I have played are from Bioware. But I think that Bioware needs to diversify more, but that doesn't mean that they should make the next F1 racing game.
What I mean is that I would like to see more variety in the RPG genre. To modify their own formula. Now I know people are skeptical a lot of times, but Bioware can be different. We had Jade Empire, a martial arts RPG. We had a shooter RPG, the Mass Effect, which kept on improving over the course of its time.
So, I wanted to suggest a few things I would like to see in the future RPGs from Bioware:
- Platforming -- I know, I know a lot of people might not like the idea at first. But it would seriously look so very amazing if you and your party are able to parkour across the landscape. It might look even more amazing if the party helps each other out, like in Prince of Persia (2009).
- Modifying a party makeup / solo -- we have always had either two or three companions. I would really like to see a RPG from Bioware where there only the PC, a solo character or has a single companion or more than three companions (for more mayhem
). - Ability to scan our faces -- We need a technology to scan our faces, and then use it to create a face morph to be imported as a character face.
- Voice modulation -- Something even better would be if the game can take a sample of our voice and perform voice modulation on the VO of the character, to make it sound like us. Not sure if that is feasible in this decade, but it would be awesome. Note: I am not saying we will do our own VO, just that using our voice as a sample the entire VO audio for the PC can be modified to sound like us.
- Better facial animations -- facial animations in ME 3 were really really good. But there is still a lot of room for improvement.
- More environment interfaction -- From all the videos it still looks like that the inquisitor is unable to interact with foilage in Thedas. Really depressing.
- Places that feel alive -- DAI seems to be doing a good job of it, but I will not be satisfied till you guys reach the assassins creed level.
- Choose different genre or timelines -- I wouldn't go as far as to ask you to try the hack-n-slash genre, because that would make this my last post (I can hear the BSN retrieving their ninja suits). But please try and diversify a bit more. Maybe you can use mythologies. If done artfully I would love me some greek mythology bioware style RPG.
That's it from me Bioware. I hope you guys do amazing with Inquisition and with all your other games.
