So, my first plat solo and it had to be with my favourite kit Drell Assassin Infiltrator. I never thought I would have the patience for a platinum solo until I saw Q's post about his own. I must admit too that I was starting to get a little bit bored with gold PUGs so I decided to give it a shot.

I think my first ever attempt before this ended wave 8(dai vs cerb fb @ fb giant) after that I never could get beyond wave 3 so I gave up.

After Q's (qftyhj) post I've tried with GT (best run- died 4 secs to extraction... vs Reapers fb White), AIU( game DC'd @ wave 9... vs Reapers fb White), Asari Huntress Infil (wave 8 vs Reapers fb Giant)... all the others attempts were epic fails. Although, after the successful solo, I have been making it past the last objective only to die from carelessness or lack of consumables.

 

Anyway, there it is... am far from being a completionist I just play to enjoy every part of any game as much as possible. I have certainly found a new thing now "Plat solos". It's turning out to be so much fun but unfortunately the game gets easier. Now I understand why some people were asking for higher difficulty. It might sound insane but yes you do get to that point. Am not there yet but I can foresee it.

I have a better understanding of the game now(enemies, map, waves, objectives etc). For example, with Reapers on plat, as long as you get past wave 8 the chance of finishing is higher. Banshees will stop teleporting when you do huge amount of damage, Phantoms<<acolyte/venom, etc

 

Well... that's that about that.

 

p.s. dedicating this plat solo to Upper, Q, Delirium and most especially Max(aka Aros).

Exactly the same setup as my first Plat solo, except I put it on Collectors. Nice job.

Actually Banshees are a lot less annoying in solos than in team games, one or two shots with a powerful weapon is enough to stop them. I agree that wave 8 is the hardest in Reapers platinum, I usually fire 3 missiles in this wave.

Sounds a little similar to my experience, at first I tried AIU, the best result was 15 sec to extraction, others all failed before wave 11, I got the job done with TGI at a later time.

Congrats with OP's Plat solo, the Drell Assasin is so badass.

I try to avoid Geth(cheats) and Collectors(bs and freeze) but yeah maybe someday 

Anyway, I've trying out different character that I like and the time is getting better. I did DAI vs Cerb fb Giant yesterday, I died at wave 9 @ 38mins... I really felt gutted because I had armoured compartment and I had 8 missiles to spend but I got too cocky and got cornered.

One of the things that really makes the plat solo exciting for me is that everything can go wrong in a twinkle of an eye... LOL! I mean everything like having full consumables to no consumables at all.

Am not trying to start a debate now but I seem to fair better with the DAI than GI even though I'd say GI looks far better on paper. For one thing, I can still risk running around with one health bar with the Drell but once my GI shield is down, the next hit would probably get me down, hence, I always use cyclonic on GI but never on Drell.

Another advantage DAI over GI is that recon mine>proximity mine... imo.

My DAI plat solo was 45 minutes on Giant/Cerberus. DAI is awesome. I suck with Sniper Rifles on him.

Just use the same build but with your weapon of choice. Arc Pistol + Drill Rounds is awesome.

 

I don't even bother with taking rank 5 and 6 out of Cloak because it saves me respec'ing every time, and Homing Grenades are barely worth the 4 ranks IMO.

Ah! The Arc Pistol... heard so much about it but I haven't quite mastered the art of pistolero!

I have to agree that the Arc Pistol has better DPS than the Black Widow.

On a DAI Arc Pistol will do in the neighborhood of 2000 dps out of cloak and 2700dps under cloak.

 

Black Widow is incidentally also around 2000 dps out of cloak, but 3400 under cloak.

 

The real difference is targets killed per unit time since Arc Pistol will one-shot a bunch of enemies out of cloak, and basically any platinum humanoid under cloak (except Possessed Collector Captain, at least without help like debuff...).

IDK. I haven't done a few kits because I wouldn't think they would even be a challenge. GI is one of them. I mean a cloaked Javelin shot puts a Banshee ranged immediately, you can cheese things through walls AND use AC5. Trooper, GI, TGI I haven't tried on a Plat solo because I feel they would be too easy. I think at the best the two are close though in overall clearance times on a solo if you don't consider AC5 in the equation.

I wouldn't think so on paper especially when you consider the BW can double hit bosses which increases it's DPS. I would say the Arc Pistol is probably easier to handle all the way around and might provide more practical DPS in the actual game especially on a caster. It's probably going to come down to kit, player, map and enemy type. Arc Pistol is light as heck, hits almost as hard and isn't quite as hard to handle on small maps.

You don't really get any more double hits with the Black Widow since the ammo choice for the two are likely going to be different.

 

You can one-shot every platinum humanoid on the DAI if you take Drill 3 on the Arc Pistol, giving you 2m penetration which is basically enough for all the double hits that matter.

 

The Black Widow will not come close to competing with the Arc in mooks killed per unit time without an anti-shield ammunition.
