I know the romance list and who is/is not available. Does anyone suspect our inquisitor will be able to flirt with the companions that he/she cannot romance? 

 

I assume gender-gated companions will draw the line if there is a flirt option. Example: if a lady inquisitor flirts with Dorian, he will either ignore her or turn her down right off the bat. Same with a male inquisitor and Sera; or a male inquisitor flirting with Blackwall. (etc. etc.)

 

Though, what about the race-gated companions? What if a female qunari or dwarf flirts with Cullen or Solas? Anyone think one of them will flirt back? But in spite of flirting back, in the end they never pursue you. (Kind of like how we could flirt with Aveline or Varric, but they never pursued us. Hence - no romance arc.) 

 

Or flirting with folks like: Varric, Vivi, Leliana, Cole...? (I know it depends on their personality. For example, Cole likely would not understand flirting whatsoever.)

 

I guess my burning question is: Can we play a flirty Inquisitor? Someone who just flirts by nature without any expectation of a romance arc? I just wonder if the flirt options will be there for non-romances. Flirting never hurt anyone! ;)

I've seen tweets from the devs playing as a flirty inquisitor so it definitely looks like it's an option. I just hope we don't have a case of femshep trying to flirt with Joker or femshep's flirt...thing with Vega.

I have an idea of a flirty inquisitor that I'd like to play. Kind of a "Zevran" type. And I am hoping that this character can go above and beyond just being witty/funny and also be flirty. 

 

(And I don't think he/she - haven't decided the gender yet - would be the type to settle into a relationship.)

I hope so! ^_^ Two of my characters romance choices are more or less undecided. One I'm hoping to pursue Iron Bull, Cassandra, and/or Blackwall. That being said, he won't be able to get with Blackwall since Blackwall is straight. But if he ends up wanting to be with Blackwall over the other two then I'm hoping for flirtation (at least on my side) followed by an eventual let down.

My other one is also a male and is asexual and I will be perusing a chaste romance. His options are also Cassandra and Iron Bull but also included are Vivienne and Sera.
So even if he ends up being with Iron Bull or Cassandra he won't have sex with them; and if that ruins the relationship then so be it.
Sera obviously won't get with him but I'm hoping for my characters attempt to pursue and let down.
Vivienne is flat out a no go on the romance ( :( ) but one again still hoping for flirting.

Also, it could be telling them "no" in a nice way, or rudely, or more or less ignoring.

Race-gates are tricky. I wonder how Cullen and Solas could turn qunaris, dwarves and Solas humans down without it being offensive to these quizzys. I wonder if our quizzys will just not have the flirt options if they are wrong race or gender.

Yeah I feel like if Cullen was like "lol dwarves r so ugly, no" or whatever....I'd never be able to romance him with any later PC, haha. I'd honestly probably rather it doesn't show up at all, because it's hard to imagine (for him at least, maybe Solas's is super elf specific) a way that wouldn't be insulting or weird. Even if it's a polite brush off. Not sure. We'll see.

Well it was an option to flirt and sleep with multible people in the previous games if you played your cards right, so I bet it'll be an option for DAI too. One of my Hawkes slept with all of the available companions with no fuss for example, hahah

 

What would be interesting is if it was possible to flirt without automatically triggering a romance. Since in the previous games you could pick a single flirt option and automatically have the companion either fall in love with you (origins) or trigger a romance scene (DA2). Would be cool if there was a difference between flirty and actually romancing people.

Me too. I kind of want the option to put my flirts into a position of rejection. Or just simply a back-and-forth of flirting but zero romance arc.

I can see it happening, we've been able to flirt with non-romancable characters before (Varric) so I see no reason it wouldn't return. ^_^

I would really enjoy that. My main Hawke was pretty flirty, though it did get her in hot water when all the romance options started reacting. But it was fun to also flirt with Aveline, Varric, Tallis, Zevran, and the odd random, even though (especially?) because you know it won't lead anywhere. Sometimes it's just fun.

 

I think it's also pleasant to be able to express interest in a character - like Aveline. Simply because it's in the game then, not just headcanon. It's recognised by the characters even if they aren't interested. Though there are some I would draw the line at. I don't think I'd feel comfortable flirting with Cole, even if it was just playful.

Only female Hawke's were able to though :'(
I would have liked Varric to turn down M!Hawke too lol (That being said I would like him to turn down both genders and all races of my Inquisitors)

It would be nice to go the SWTOR route with this where you can flirt with people outside your party, sometimes it leads to more than flirting sometimes not but having the option there rather than it limited to just companions and then only the LI was nice. It help build the character, my smuggler was a huge flirt but rarely took it further than that and it was fun.

Yup also your LI apparently will give you grief if you flirt with someone else in their presence. As it should be.
