I'm curious to know what I am missing. I either am very poor at searching all the main areas, or there simply isn't a great diversity of armor in-game.

Those are armors available via preorder bonuses and such. There are more, I've personally encountered one nigh full set (Though I am yet to complete it.)

There is less diversity thane ME1. Not one of my favorite changes, but not a gamebreaker.

Kain, I'd respectfully disagree. I'd call it -more- diversity if all the armor sets are simply retextures, as they were in ME1. ME2's armor appearances are so far quite distinct from one another. I'm looking forward to finding more. (I hold a great desire to appear as hulking and tank-like as possible, without using the Terminus Armor. 'Cause I dun wanna.

Cerberus Assault Armor? Hmmm. Worth a look.

By diverse, I mean by name and stats. otherwise, yeah it was mostly recolors.
By that logic, we have the same amount of diversity.

That depends on how you define diversity. Considering the fact you can change appearance at whim with many options including material, color, patterns, structure, etc, I like to think there's more effective diversity and actually more chance to create an armor you like in ME2 than finding an armor you like in ME1.
Not to mention the fact casual wear is expanded.
