I saw that too. I think it's a good argument for Sera as the Tower! If she ends up being that, I won't think it's off.

If I was going to designate a Tower card though, I would probably assign it to someone whose life has just collapsed. The Tower card archetype doesn't seem (to me at least) about someone who breaks down conventions, more about someone whose convention has just been destroyed.

...actually if I was going to make an Inquisition tarot, I would probably make the explosion at Haven the Tower, because it's harder for me to think of the Tower as a personality type than as an event.  Oh! And then maybe the Star could be the Inquisitor reaching up to the glowy hand or--

See this is where I'm overthinking it a bit. ;)

Based one what I know of tarot cards I think Cullen might be a good candidate for Tower. I'd say his life has collapsed and that his convention has been shaken if not destroyed.

I think the reason Bull is holding a skull is because he's a reaver, and a warrior with a skull is the symbol for the reaver specialization.  Just an observation....

Well, Sera did lose her playground due to the chaos of the Breach. She wants to fix the world so she can get back to being a prankster thief. So the Tower fits her anyway.

Legit!

It is entirely possible I am clinging to the idea of sera as the fool because I like the idea of her being the most important card in the deck. XD

(But I do think it could go either way)

It's been a while since I've looked at my cards and I mixed up the Hierophant with the High Priestess both of which have pillars but are about religion in a different way.

Looking at Sera's card again I can see the tower better especially if the lights are taken to be explosions around the base of the tower.

I'm keen on the idea that the Inquisitor is The Fool.

What I think who symbolizes who:

Cassandra - Death, rather easy since she looks just like the card, plus the description of resisting change seems to match the problem she's going to have.
Dorian - Magician, There were only two cards a saw with the infinity symbol plus the description of being talented and powerful matches him more so than strength.
Sera - Tower for this one, only because I think the Fool is actually the inqusitor. Plus Sera is described as quite the spirfire and possibly unpredictable.
Iron Bull - Devil, some cards have gold or treasures in them, plus the card matches his conflict between his beliefs and his likeness for debauchery
Solas - Hermit, not much to say, seems like a dead ringer. Also I think the hermit sometimes has a lanturn, and Solas is shown with fire.
Blackwall - Judgement, mostly because he's a dude in the sky hovering over people, which have their hands raised.
Vivienne - High Priestess, commonly shown with a dark and like symbolism which Viv is holding a white cup and the black snake, plus mystery seems to follow her character, which is part of this card.
Varric - Chariot, this was a hard one, but the only reasons why I'm picking is this how his card seems to have a dark and light symbolism and his story seems to be about struggle.

Cole - Moon, dreams and confusion, sounds like a Fade to me. Plus the one consistanty in most cards is the crayfish like animal.
Inquisitor - Fool. Mostly since all the story depleted in the cards are all about the Fool's journey which is likely what we're going to face once we play the game.

Cole- can't be anything else but the Fool

Cole is The Moon, actually. The moon itself is right behind him, and the crayfish is a dead giveaway. His character also fits the unfolding consciousness of the self and the struggle with your "shadow," projecting present and future from the past, etc.

Sera is definitely not the Fool either. There's not a single sign of the Fool's visual cues, and nothing of her character fits the symbolism of the journey. She's also not the hero of the story.

If anyone, the Inquisitor is The Fool. It's their journey of self discovery, learning through the other arcana until the wheel closes around them.

I totally agree about the Quizzie being the Fool, but I was thrown how they'd actually do that? Not in game I suppose , but on the actual deck. Just have 8 different Fool Cards? (That'd be hella cool)

Cullen fits The Chariot better, I think. Chariot is about reconciling contradicting/struggling paths (his experiences with both mages and templars becoming corrupt), overcoming uncertainties, becoming confident and in command of your own destiny (on the fallout of the war he stops following and starts leading); and with that confidence inspiring a stagnant/hesitating Fool (the Inquisitor) to focus on their cause, run down any obstacles and be confident in victory (hence military advisor).

There is the question that this artwork of him doesn't match any arcana visual cues except maaaaybe Emperor or Justice:

OFCVqCO.jpg?1

But then, neither do Josie's or Leliana's cards ring any bells. Perhaps those are just stylized character cards and not their real arcanas in the set?

It could be a hooded figure of undetermined size in the distance, such as:

8BijHba.jpg

Made vague enough to fit any size/race/gender/class variations of the Inquisitor.

I've also seen representantions of this card as just a pair of feet walking of a cliff, which are pretty interesting in that they don't pin the The Fool as any specific figure but you.

If they do represent the Inquisitor as The Fool it's probably be less character and more symbolism.

Unless the advisors are minor instead of major (coins/staves/swords) I can't see how they fit.

Oooh, I hadn't seen Cullen's card. Well, he is holding a sword so he does resemble Justice. I keep wanting Chariot to have an actual chariot with black and white creatures pulling it, though the description you gave does seem to fit Cullen.

I think Leliana could be Wheel of Fortune based on visual cues.

I wonder if they'll go for the obvious and make Celene the Empress.

Josie kind of has the flower (?? is that flowers lmao I can't tell) necklace and general fertile pallet of the Empress. I sort of think it'd be fun if Leli was the High Priestess to Josie's Empress...and she is holding her finger up to her mouth, which I have seen in at least one Tarot. (I think Alchemical)

edit: Here's the High Priestess I meant

Spoiler

Wheel of Fortune I think is Varric's card.

Interesting, and yes, a possibility. I just have a hard time thinking of Leliana as the High Priestess.

Great input so far, everyone!  Here are my personal opinions:

Spoiler

As for the Inquisitor, I thought they might be the querent, rather than any of the cards in the deck.  It would fit with the "Inquisitor" title, and the fact that we have all of these cards that the querent would draw to reveal the answers to their questions (AKA finish all these the-world-is-ending quests) made the most sense to me.

EDIT: Wall o' text under spoiler cut for sizing courtesy.

Interesting, and yes, a possibility. I just have a hard time thinking of Leliana as the High Priestess.

Leilana is the secret arm of the Divine. High Priestess is hidden spiritual mysteries.  High Priestess is the internal spiritual world vs the Hierophant's instutitions, and Leilana is the one who believes the Maker talks directly to her....I think you can make an argument.

I am leaning towards the Tower now, but I don't think that the Fool's Journey necc nixes any NPC from filling that role. It's not the only way of interpreting Tarot, and we don't know if that's what they used. So if they're not working with that for the Fool card, then I think Sera would be a good fit for it. I agree it doesn't have any of the symbolic markers of the card, but the way she's positioned and the fact that she's standing up high, looking down, is similar enough to me that it made sense to me as a possibility. *shrug*
