No.  DA2 & ME3 hurt.  I'll wait and see and do some more research after DA:I is released before deciding whether to buy.

The world looks lavish and wonderful, but the characters and combat look more DA2 than DA:O.  For me, that is not a plus.

I may forget how great a game was when I first played it, but I cannot forget how a game did not meet my expectations....

I would like it if DA:I was good but I will not take the word of Bioware's marketing department, or for that matter any game 'journalist' I mean DA2 had 9/10 and 10/10 scores prior to release.

particularly when my expesctations were built up by the very people who created the game that let me down (and took my money).

Dragon Age Origins is a good game. Even today I can enjoy playing it. I expect that if DA3 is equally as good, I will be able to enjoy it, later, in 2015 just as much as on release day. And maybe even for a better price than the initial offer. That would be like having my cake and eating it too: a great game for a lower price.

Unfortunately for BioWare, I no longer trust the company to produce what it promises. I do know of some people on Youtube who like the same type of play as I, and they will be reviewing DA3 when it drops. They will even do Let's Plays of it. That I can trust.

That is when I will take my money I earn from my budget and buy something I know I want.

Asking on the DA:I forum will net you a bunch of skewed answers. Go to another forum and you will get more varied responses.

No, I do not intend to pre-order DA:I nor will I buy this game unless the users say that it is good. I have my own personal set of criteria which must be fulfilled.

This is in sharp contrast to the way I pre-ordered DA2 and ended up disappointed.

Being in the EU, these user reviews will come from our North American friends who have a 3-day headstart.

Lol says Skewed reviews. Just because we don't mindlessly bash bio and DA because of DA2  doesn't debunk our opinions or make them 'Skewed'. DA2 was highly enjoyable BTW.

ME3? I can see you say DA2 but ME3? If ME3 "hurt" you, you cannot be pleased. Please don't say "But... But the ending", The ending doesn't automatically make the whole game trash. In fact the game was pure gold, even more with the added ending.

I was burned by DA2 and ME3 as well, but everything points to them having taken feedback from those games and applied it to DA:I and the game looks and sounds awesome. I'm buying a new console just for DA:I.

How were you burned by ME3?

DA2 was a good game too. Just not to the level most wanted it.

It is skewed because the question is "are you buying product 'x'" on product 'x' forums. The people you are asking are actively involved in said products fan page making it likely to give you a lot of 'yes' answers, otherwise why would you be there?

Has nothing to do with mindlessly bashing bio or DA or debunking opinions. It does however skew the results. Same as if you went to the Call of Duty forums and asked 'who will buy the next CoD game?' Or Blizzard and asked 'who has a current subscription to World of Warcraft?' You are getting skewed results.

I'll get it because I'm following the story of Dragon Age and because I enjoyed the last two. Personally I would have been just as interested if they had used the same engine as DA2 In fact I find quite a lot of the faces unappealing in Frostbite and the colours too vivid. I'll still get it but the "upgrade" is by no means part of that decision

Explain what you mean by "level most wanted" please?

Perhaps you are referring to the schism, the huge sheer cliff drop, between product that satisfied paid reviewers taste and the taste buyers expected to be satisfied by - which drove day one business but petered out quickly so that DA was soon unsellable on secondary markets? I recall my horror watching the free download on Youtube break immersion with exploding corpses (hit by a Rogue's sword) during Hawke's flight from Lothering one day before pre-orders shipped. That feeling is fresh.

Tangerines are sweet. Lemons are sour. You bite into one expecting to taste the other (which is how the fruit was sold to you).... Not sure "level" is the right concept to express bad surprise. This without my criticizing either repetitive lemons or refreshing tangerines, or slagging the actual work put into producing either taste.

I preordered once it was available for preorder on Amazon.  Canceling preorders cost nothing, after all, if I changed my mind.  Thankfully Inquisition is far exceeding my expectations on a wide number of fronts, so I'm super stoked and that preorder is staying on lockdown.

Guess what? It's DRAGON AGE INQUISITION forums. We wouldn't be here if we weren't buying it, if you are here to be like "Meh i'm not buying it, i wouldn't listen to anyone on forums their fans" Get over yourself, yes?

It wasn't to the level most wanted it which was DAO. You keep voicing your dissatisfaction, but again the game just wasn't or how and where you wanted/needed it to be to enjoy it.

Deluxe has fiery weapons, yes. The collectors edition of the guidebook, I didn't really pay attention to its bonus, I wanted it anyways. :D  That's bad, but its a game I know I will love a lot. ;)  At the same time, didn't feel the need to buy the inquisitor edition of the guidebook.  The artwork is being published separately at least. :)

Yep, I meant skewed as in the mathematical-statistical terminology or psychological cognitive bias. If you go over to e.g. the Bethesda forums and read the off-topic thread about DA:I, they are a lot more hostile and critical.

In any case, interestingly enough, I think I am wrong about these forums, there seems to be a fair number of people who are cautious after being burned by DA2 and/or ME3.

There are various reasons why I am here. The first is that technically DA2 is the company's only F-up so they deserve a second chance. From the gameplay videos, they seem to be making a genuine attempt to fuse the two gameplay styles instead of just going with DA2's more action-oriented awesome button. If they decided to retain only DA2's style, then OuterRate would be right, I would not even be here. Secondly, there are very few story driven games on the market and they are consumed on arrival.

most likely gonna skip this game or would buy it with a discount later on.

I'm with this. At the very least I'm going to wait for all of the DLC as well as reviews from outlets and communities I trust. I will never preorder a BioWare or EA game again.

The gameplay videos I've seen have been concerning and Gaider's comments in articles make me question the writing teams' priorities. I'm extremely cautious about this title.

For sure. The game looks super polished already and so great. I have some gripes but that's all subjective stuff. Objectively it looks fantastic!

AGREED. The emphasis has been to depict the mechanics and graphics rather than the story itself. There is no mention of world building other than the mechanics of free movement across the map. I will definitely watch Let's Play before making my purchase decision.

This was something I did not wish to do with DA2. I wanted to be surprised by the story. Instead, I was ambushed by the marketing ballyho.

Do you have links to Gaider's comments?  It would seem appropriate to the discussion. I would like to read what he is quoted as commenting.

As long as it's better than da2, I think it'll be amazing

DA2 is the second worst game ever... ANYTHING could be better than that (even Superman 64). So that's not enough for me...

I demmand it to be at least better than Jagged Alliance BiA. If it's not I will be dissappointed... and if it becomes TOO SIMILAR to DA2 bioware will be dead for me.

I humbly submit Atari's E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.

Semper fie. Never forget.  Atari did not lie to me though.... and they were honest enough to bury this game in a landfill.

I love Dragon Age so I already pre-ordered in full for both my console and PC.

It's like how I bought that Mass Effect James Vega anime. i don't even like anime but I bought it because I'm a terrible person and I love Mass Effect. I think it's more because I love Bioware and they have my faith and backing 100%.

Inquisition will be phenomenal. I can smell it's greatness.
