I've always been a disc man; something about a hard copy makes sense to me. I've always been fearful, that downloading games might lose something, or parts of a game, or that some DLCs will have problems syncing to downloaded games.

I do however like to believe I'm open minded, so I ask, with eager curiosity: For those who have paid for full, downloaded games, with either Origins, EA, Steam, etc.........are you happy with what you paid for???

I'm considering downloading the previous Dragon Age games.......input???

I know what you mean, however, are you happy with the playability, ease of use, technical aspects, etc.?

Yeah Kinda of, and the use of this is that if you for example, buy a new computer you can log into origin then keep playing the game with the same charcter, becouse your saves are saved in your account I think.

So, you had any bad experiences with downloaded games?

Also, thanx for the Veterans comment. Funny, as a disabled war vet., several years ago, my physical therapists suggested playing video games to help maintain hand-eye coordination....thanx again!

I haven't had any bad experiences with downloading. At this time I just prefer having a disk copy onhand.

Thank you for your service. I was in the Gulf war in 1991 suffering a few injuries and illness that led to me getting out of the army. I only play video games to kill time since I've been retired for  over 5 years now.

Hear ya, me '83 to '91. Desert Storm was my last tour. Army 11B, 31V, 00B. Got busted up pretty bad after a Parachute/Leap-frog mishap. Took 'em over ten years to finally find out I broke my neck in four vertebrae. Although I can function, corrective surgery is out of the question at this point.....just maintaining, tryin' to be balanced about it, hehehe!!!

Anyway, out of curiosity, do you have to be online to play EA/ Origin games, or can they be played in a "off line" mode?

The one time I did a playthrough(ME3) on my pc, I had to be online.  I know when I play on my ps3 I don't have to be online.

You can set origins to be offline. It's only mass effect 3 thats a bit funny about playing offline.

Thanx. I ordered the PC- D/A, and Mass Effect games discs from Amazon, but I was kinda leaning towards trying the downloads. I played these games on the XB360, and gave them away awhile ago, yet with the upcoming Inquisition game coming out soon, I've been wanting to revisit the Dragon Age series. As far as Mass Effect, I gotta admit, I think Martin Sheen did a phenomenal job with voice acting!

Seems that getting the disc for the M/E series is the way to go....on any platform.

I have not had major troubles with DL, but have had hiccups that created lengthy delays. With that past experience, I prefer discs; how I have pre-ordered DAI.

I'm definitely a disc girl. I only download things that aren't available on discs (like DLCs). I've heard/read too many stories of people saying that Origins/Steam "lost" their game or their DLC or whatever. I'd rather have the disc. As long as I transfer my saves to my USB, I can still play the same character even if I end up having to reload the game. :)

Did you get the Ultimate Edition of DAO, jd2671? At least then you won't have to worry about buying and downloading DLCs for that game. I wish they had made a UE for DA2, as I refuse to spend all that money again for the DLCs for the PC, as I already have them for the PS3.

I'm kinda in the same boat. I like having a disc because of the (perhaps irrational) idea of some technical problem wiping out all my games.

But I've slowly amassed a library of games on Steam, and honestly I've always found it convenient and simple. Plus, there are often sales on Steam if you're prepared to wait a bit, and there's no nightmare postal delays if you pre-order. It's kinda crept up on me, but I think my disc-buying days are over.

So I say embrace online buying.

Yup, sure did. It seems I'll still have to repurchase the DLCs for DA2....oh well.

Nice Skyrim mods!!!

BTW, If you have DAO and DAII discs (like me), know that you can redeem their codes in Origin, and be granted a digital copy of the games.

You should try it and see if it fits you.

I must say I have become a fan of digital install, much more simple and automatic than discs.

I'll preorder the digital deluxe edition on Origin. I'll miss the disc, but at least, the box won't be gathering dust on a shelf :P

LadyKarrakaz saved my DAO game with this information so it truly is worth it!

Nevertheless I personnally prefer the disc. Well, I know downloading seems very practical, easy and all that but in the old days having

bought the CD meant you truly owned the game (oh God, I begin talking like a granny!!!).

It's the same with books: do you frefer your cold kindle or having a real book in your hands? It's really something else.

What is the most frustrating with Steam&co. is that you can't share the games you bought.

I mean, three gamers in a community (friends, family) have to buy each their own copy.

This is unfair and another mean of stealing money from our pockets. And when it comes to adds on, it adds money on and on.

Furthermore, I don't like it too much being forced to play online, I find it like an intrusion into my private space.

See, it means people know when, how long, with what you are playing. freaky, isn't it?

Playing is opening a door into a very sensitive and emotional corner of one's mind.

Each player is unique and will perceive this fact as a threat or not.

That being said, I love buying games on Gamersgate--I want to say playing to the games I download on...--

preferably if they aren't on such platforms, I avoid them the best I can. My library is full if it can ever be :P...

My last aquisition is The Witcher (yeah, the old one so what <_<? it was on sale and it is the extented edition).

Conclusion : I too am a CD girl, but like my downloading as long as it isn't an intrusion.

as others have said - never had a single problem with downloads/dlc's. everything usually works just fine. on the contrary it works even faster/better than having a disk. it usually just happens in the background.

that being said - i do have an external drive where i keep games, specific games that i really like. and will always try to keep a hard-copy of games i really like. ( though not a disc since i don't like it collecting dust/occupying space + last i remember, 6-7 years ago, discs usually don't work after about a year or so, they degrade ... maybe nowadays they last longer ).

granted ... having a good connection is a must, especially with games reaching 20-30gb's nowadays.

My internet speeds make me prefer hard copies, but digital works fine if I don't mind not playing the game until tomorrow.

I like downloading the games, it's more convenient to me than changing the disks every time I want to play a different game. I recommend steam- never had any problems with it!

I dunno. I tend to find that physical copies drop in price much sooner than digital ones.

If I had the extra cash I'd buy the disc instead even though I'm open-minded enough to simply download it. I like collecting stuff like cards, model kits and in this case, games. Still have my KOTOR2 disc in storage complete with all of the manuals and paper that came along with it. ^_^
