Why are platinum pugs worse than gold?

To add to all of this.

Gold is also better for people going after challenge points, since you can use lower weapons and it has more mooks.

And when you try and find a Platinum match, it's easy to get sick of trying to find a lobby that doesn't scream out "Carry Me", whereas with Gold, who cares.

Majority of current player base is new (PS3 here). To me they all seem the same in all difficulties. You probably happened to notice it on platinum because things can get messy quickly. Gold is a breeze, in comparison, and you're probably killing too fast for enemy to go after your teamates.

I am not an anti-pug person, but I do agree with the assessment that pug lobbies on Platinum usually contain players not ready for platinum.  I think it stems around players doing credit farming.  They learn a niche set of skills for a few select maps, and if anything goes wrong then they fall apart.

I still do the occasional platinum, but almost all of them start as a gold pug, and because the group does so well together, we decide to then take it to platinum.

Holy hell. They detonate my explosions for no dmg and then make my system lag out due to all the drops. Why are the people playing gold and silver better than those queing for platinum.

the problem is you no the pugs, how good are you playing? if you can finished a platium game with a bunch of pugs then you are the man, if not keep trying and do not go over there saying theyre bad

I do agree that if you are able to carry a plat game you won't notice how bad your teammates are or be bothered by it.

I always get at least one good player in my plat lobby and even the ones that aren't good enough contribute until they go down and sometimes eventually leave the game(I can understand the frustration).

The main thing however is that, if I don't get a good player in my game, I just play like it's a solo... i don't run around reviving unless the pug is close and I try my best to be aware of my surroundings especially with Reapers.

Some gold players aren't good either.

They look acceptable and even want start the game soon as duo.

Worst of all, they quit after some beats.

Some of my reasons why:

- It's a bit tiresome though I do appreciate the challenge of carrying the pugs and makes me laugh at the thought of these pugs that a volus is carrying them.

- I tend to encounter pugs that aren't even capable of handling platinum let alone survive for more than like 30 seconds into a wave.

- Usually the platinum pugs from my experiences (Everyones is different ok) are terrible at doing objective waves which results in me soloing those objective waves which is not fun for me esp if it's a 4 man hack circle with everybody except you that is dead while doing the hack circle.

Because the best leechers do it at the highest level.

Here's my diatribe on the subject not that it will hit the target audience.

Why would you want to sit through half an hour of me clutching the match to earn you credits when you can actually play a lower level and earn the same amount of credits in the same amount of time? If you're not playing the game to play the game, why the **** are you even playing multiplayer? You can get two or three matches of gold or silver done in the time it takes me to solo platinum which is generally what happens and you'll have more fun doing it. I don't understand people leeching for imaginary credits to buy imaginary weapons.

All of this.

I'm trying to play multiplayer for the added enjoyment of knowing there is a real person behind the character, otherwise I'd be playing the campaign talking to my squad.

Gold is far too easy and I don't want to run around platinum super afraid of insta-kills. I rage on wave 10 by some of the fancy banshee warp grabs.

Solo's feel too slow and robotic. I'm making excuses. I'll just have to find a way to play like a crazy man solo.

Any class that has Grenades, Dark Sphere, or is a GI

Both are about the same in my experience. I've had fewer bad Plat pugs, but that's because I rarely play it

Can't say I agree that Platinum pugs are worse, on PC there are lots of good and skilled players, sure you need to spend some time finding a good lobby, but in my experience 95% of all platinum pugs end successfully - and frequently the games don't last longer than 20-25 minutes (best pug was a reaper game on glacier taking only 17 minutes)

Last night I was on Giant/Reapers/Platinum on xbl and there were these guys that were one shotting banshees.

One was an Awakened Collector and the other was a human but I don't remember what class.

I mean wtf? What kind of loadout/build wil let you one shot a banshee? Was it a hack or some kind of zero fitness build because they were dying pretty quickly when they got hit.

You can't one-shot a Banshee with any legit loadout.

A couple of GI's with Javelin's can make it look almost like one shot.

Legit, IDK if you could even stack ammo clips and OSK a Plat Banshee though.

Not one-shot, but a pair of Biotics with strong weapons can tag-team a Platinum Banshee to death in... certainly under 10 seconds, maybe as few as 6-7? I've never actually timed it.

is true the only one shot kill is with a rocket in her ugly face, but with space magic  :wizard:  you have infinite options
