Crowd control and AoE? ;)

In all seriousness, maybe the decreased healing lets them make the other abilities uber powerful, so combat ends even faster! This could end up being a positive change for story-focused players, who knows? :D

That's a good point, it would stand to reason that combat wouldn't last as long due to increased damage. Healing just prolonged battles; it didn't actually cause them to end any faster.

^ If only the story focused players who don't care about experiencing the gameplay and only want them fights to end quickly had options such as lower difficulty levels.

It sucks they have to settle for - hoping for removal of entire game mechanics from everybody - instead of, say, just switching to casual difficulty.

This is certainly my hope. Not really op mage powers, but with less talents invested on healing capability mages can concentrate on spells that bring the fight to an end quicker, rather than just mitigating damage in a battle of attrition.

Can't wait to get my hands on it to be honest, I'm so weary of having to have a dedicated healer in the party.

Man, I hate hate HATE what they have done to healing in DAI. I don't want to think tactically, I just want to kill the guys and move on so I can see the story and the characters. I don't want to play super general and have to think about every little move. And its really irritating they have destroyed what made mages so useful.

I feel like I'm always going to play on casual so I don't get stuck spending like a half hour on one fight doing it "tactically". Ugh.

I'll be waiting around for developer console cheats I suppose. :(

So, I haven't heard much of anything about Healing magic. There IS a basic healing spell, I hope?

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw

Nope. Guard and barrier. No healspam.

What.

No heal spell just seems so unnecessary. Oh well.

No offense, but it kind of sounds like you always played on casual anyway.

I usually play on normal. XD which apparently is now going to be the casual in DA:I? Since each one is harder now in the new game...

And yay... No heal spells at all.... What were they thinking, ugh again.

I love the idea, not so sure how it'll play out! But It won't feel as if I'm forced to bring along a certain companion due to them being the healer. I didn't like Wynne much but was often stuck with her due to her being the healer.

From what I can tell it looks like enemies can't deal quite as much damage as they used to. I'd just look at it this way: instead of spamming the heal spell to restore health you just use the Barrier spell or whatever to block damage. It's not really that much more complicated, just different.

Wow, literally no healing spell AT ALL? I mean I hated bringing Wynne everywhere all the time in DA:O because she was the best healer available but.. this is still surprising.
