Every game. It seems you can become a Templar. Templars hates mages. It comes with the job. Berasker in d2 sucked. And I was hoping it would make a come back. But no. Templar. Looks at Templar with extreme hate. Both past games have proven templars can't be trusted.
Templar class why?

Templars hates mages. It comes with the job.
You don't have their job. You have their powers. And Alistair proves in his rather deferential chats with Wynne that you can have their powers without hating mages. (Never mind that Cullen in the Mage Origin very clearly does not hate mages.)

The past game shows Templars can't be trusted. And because of them the world is ending. As a dwarf I refuse to use those drugged addicting abilites.

(Bold part) Lol it really didn't, berserker was awesome and very good, but you had to take it as 2nd spec and on level 14. In fact Templar spec sucked way too much on DA2. The ONLY reason to pick Templar over other two specs was liking it because of lore. Berserker + Reaver + Vanguard was perfect combination and synergy and was the only real warrior two handed build that really worked great on higher difficulties. You literally melt faces with it.

Why not? As far as I can tell, you don't even have to be Andrastean to have templar abilities.

He proves nothing. He like Wynne magic because she part of the circle and because she is a spirital healer. Most of her magic is healing.

The lore makes no sense and it makes even less sense in the game. The chanity controls the lyrium and thus controls the templars.

Because all templars are lyrium addicts. And it promotes a drug use. And the events that happen in DA2.

Templars were mostly use agaist mages. Who could hit first. Shruggle off damage and kill them. Templar could have been replace with a new class.

The reason the Templar specialization is in every game is very simple: It is a specialization designed to counter magical opponents.
The past game shows Templars can't be trusted. And because of them the world is ending. As a dwarf I refuse to use those drugged addicting abilites.
I didn't realize DAI was out and confirmed the Templars are the ones behind the Breach. I thought for sure it was that 'Elder One' guy.

And there is no real reason to replace the Templar with another class either. They are a part of this game and the lore, even if you like it or not.Templars were mostly use agaist mages. Who could hit first. Shruggle off damage and kill them. Templar could have been replace with a new class.
Not all Templars are crazed drug users. And no, Templars do in no way promote drug use. It is rather ridiculous to even make such a claim.
As a dwarf you are a part of the Carta who seem to actually be a part of the lyrium trade. So as a dwarf you are actually worse than a drug user you are actually a drug dealer. And dwarfs themselves are already anti-magic thanks to being around lyrium for so long. So you are already using "drugged addicting abilities" thanks to the immunity gained from lyrium. The past game shows Templars can't be trusted. And because of them the world is ending. As a dwarf I refuse to use those drugged addicting abilites.

Captain Bonecold is right. It makes no sense that 'Templar' is just a random spec anyone can learn.
It makes sense in the lore because Templars are given lyrium, and that's how they get their 'anti-magic' powers. Having random characters (especially Dwarves who are supposed to be immune) able to access this with no story justification is a bit jarring.

Actually, he proves he can be stalker creepy over 1 mage, if you play her. However, even that is out the window by the end of The Broken Circle. But you're not wrong in believing that hating mages isn't a job requirement for Templars. The problem here is having a class and a faction share a name, but I'm not sure what we'd call a warrior with Templar abilities, if not a Templar. I'm sure we could rattle off a lot of them, but we're a bit late now.

They've never said Dwarves can't be Templars. Dwarves can't be born Mages, but Templars aren't Mages, and all Templars are created, not born.

He was entirely civil towards my male Surana. So he can want not to stab a mage with his steel sword without having other sword-related plans.

Pro-mage, I take it? ![]()
Templars aren't Evil. The situation with the Mage-Templar War is complicated. Mages are not inherently better and more deserving of freedom and safety than non-Mages. Templars serve a good purpose in the world, and would even in a world where the Circles of Magi are disbanded. Lyrium addiction is an unfortunate side-effect of a Templars powers. It's not promoting drug use, it is part of the Lore of why non-mages manifest magic powers.

David Gaider confirmed that Templars do need lyrium to fuel their abilities. I'm curious to see how this will be reflected in gameplay. Will we find a cure for the addiction? Can our character become addicted? In any case, I just hope it causes problems. I love me some good drama and this game looks poised to deliver a ship load of it. Hurray!
