Does the AI recognize and target the strongest player in a game to take the player out essentially ending the mission?

I ask because I have had a few games that I feel like the Banshee or Phantom ignores everyone just to sync kill me and more often that

not this usually ends the game. Sometimes, am not even the strongest in the team like when am playing a kit am not too familiar with.

The strongest player keeps getting synced until we eventually all wipe out.

That's classic confirmation bias - same as when you get a dog suddenly you notice all the other dogs. It definitely seems that way when it happens, and we're quick to notice it, but we don't notice all the times when it's not happening.

The AI is (sadly?) not really smart enough to have a strategy.

How does the game figure out who the strongest player is?

Mainly what it does is looks for players in the enemies' lines of sight and targets them, although wounded players will move up the priority list.

Usually the players who are scoring higher are more aggressive and simply get the attention of the AI more frequently since they are at closer range and nearly always in view.

This is actually 100% opposite of what I have experienced.  A Juggy is standing 3 feet in front of an enemy not meleeing but pulsing or shooting it and it totally ignores him because it has locked onto another player already.

For Banshees, I've always had this experience...

Probably not, but I understand why you feel that way. I almost always end up being targeted in my matches, especially from FREAKINPRIMES, Ravagers, FREAKINATLASES and such.

I remember one time in Dagger/Geth...a FREAKINPRIME DE LOS COJ.... was shooting at me. Thing is that I was near an entrance to the tunneled area (the one further from any LZ), and the Prime was in an entrance of it, too...in the opposite entrance of it, to be exact (the one that leads to the LZ that is not the spawn point).

Naturally, I ragemissiled that b****.

Cyonan on Aggro Mechanics:

Enemies will evaluate targets based on a few things:

> Distance to target
> Do they have a good line of sight on the target
> How injured is the target
> Who was their previous target
> Can they see the target

Some of those factors correlate to the play of a typical 'good player' as they are usually more aggressive and closer to the enemy.

From my personal experience from the game I think it is related to the amount of shields a player has more than anything. AI will most likely go after the tankier kits and the low shielded kits are less of priority for them.

From what I've read, Vanguards are basically aggro magnets, whereas Infiltrators have it the easiest way around it.

Great, the two classes I like, the two polar opposites :D

Ok but I've had scenarios where am not the closest to the Banshee, Prime or Atlas yet they ignore about 3 players to shoot at me.

Did they have a better line of sight to you or were the other players infiltrators? Were you the most injured? Who was their previous target?

It's not just based on proximity.

I'll take note of these things now that am aware of them.

I just read the Cyonan thread... thanks

Dunno why anyone would complain about enemies coming to them. Convenience is what I call that.

Based on the criteria offered in this thread, I am the greatest player of ME3MP who ever lived. I've had Banshees walk straight past all the rest of the squad to scream in my face.

Just to clarify, my question was asked out of curiosity so don't mistake it for complaining.

I know the feeling- I've had the odd game where normal aggro mechanics seem to go out the window and every enemy will target me relentlessly. The worst I had was Geth condor, where it seemed every time I left cover every enemy what drop what it was doing and shoot me, even if it was across the other side of the map.

Mind you, I've had it go the other way and found myself apparently invisible to enemies. I once chased a banshee right the way around reactor, slapping it's bottom as a Krodept, but couldn't distract it from the poor sap she'd decided to hunt down.

Actually, it's the other way around, if anything.

The answer to the OP would be.. "lol".

My brother in law is always mixing up idioms like those. 'Don't look a gift horse in the eye' was a good one, so was 'I'm not just a clever face'.

If a horse gives you a gift, don't put it in your mouth
