I wanted dreadlocks for the Qunari, like the ones in DA:O.

So yes hair is a pain in the ass to handle, clipping with the horns probably was too much of a pain to handle and they choose to use short version for cutting the problem.

 

I don't think that makes a difference in this instance, because both horns and hair are attached to the head. I don't think any of the hairstyles for any of the races in DA:I have animated hair with multiple bones. All hair looks like a single entity.

 

Even if that's not the case, they've managed to make it work for other races, and I'm really not seeing how the horns make a difference considering they're extensions of the skull and will move along with the head.

It goes further than the chin. You see it go behind the shoulders. 

 

In that case, I'm pleased. Would be nice to have hair the same length I have mine, all the way down to the behind region, heh.

I'm not playing qunari so their lack of hair really didn't bother me much. I am however a bit salty because they have yet to show Elves in action. Human and qunari is all we've gotten, I'd be happy seeing a dwarf at this point -_-

That doesn't make a difference in this instance, because both horns and hair are attached to the head. I don't think any of the hairstyles for any of the races in DA:I have animated hair with multiple bones. All hair looks like a single entity.

 

Like both helmet and hair are attached to head and see the clipping issue that emerges in any games.

There is a braided style though. But it's also short. Ah well.

But helmets are meant to supersede hair, they're meant to occlude it. Plus, helmets are something you add to your character after the fact, and the likelihood is that you will be switching different helmets, so I can see why that causes issues because of the sheer number of combinations you need to account for.

 

In this case, horn shape is set, and hair style is set, and qunari don't even have helmets to worry about.

I find it amusing how hair is going to be the deciding factor between whether someone plays a race or not. Never mind the story potential or class building.

Guys imagine the clipping issue between horns and long hair.


For many players clipping is acceptable if it means having long hair options.
Historically though, long hair (that clips) has been added with mods. Other players can't justifiably complain about clipping if it involves a mod, AND modders can laser-focus on specific areas of quality.
It still remains to be seen if anyone from the DA modding community is up to the challenge of Frostbite. Modding it is difficult but not impossible.

Am I the only one who actually liked the female quanari? I thought she looked awesome.  The male looked generic soldier boy but the female was quality.

I loved the level of customization that we are able to make to our characters. I agree with Cameron though about the make up, whenever I try it in a CC it always ends up awful.

I hope so.

 

In general they've kept the hair short for everyone. But they have added a few longer options for other races, including male characters. I still can't see clipping with the horns as a valid reason to preclude such options from female qunari. It may be a budgetary issue, with the majority of the hairstyle budget being devoted to the horn designs... at least that's a valid reason, though I feel like one of the shorter styles could have been sacrificed for a long hair option if that were the case.

CC looks really detailed and awesome, wish they had shown more!

 

Why no longer hair for female qunari though? I'm not asking for super long hair, but not even hair like the ones humans get? Would have been so cool :(

 

Also I hope Vivienne's DA2 style female animation is her own thing and I'm not forced to watch Cassandra and femquisitor walk and run like that :(

I liked everything about her except the number of hairstyle options. The horn selection was particularly good - I was very impressed they included various types of stumps as well as plated horn styles.

Character Creation part is amazing! Now if only it was available before the game! Not because I am greedy and want everything here and now (well, I am, but it's not the point). But because now I do not know when I begin to play - with so many possibilities I will spend days only creating character!

We're lucky to even have Qunari as a race option and people are getting upset over hair?

 

If anything, the variation on the horns made me more intrigued to play a Qunari ... which I wasn't really before.

That makeup thing. I do not understand why people (okay, some guys) say they don't understand how to apply makeup in a game. Eyeliner and mascara, make it black; there you go. Simple, and the dude looks cooler with it. Also, smoking hot. Just look at a certain dude in the first season of Game of Thrones.
