I missed it, but did CC offer a setting where you could change your Inquisitor's "portrait" to something other than the "green hand?"
No It's the green hand.

The way it seems to work is that each horn and hair combo is counted by the system as a single "hairstyle". Meaning that each type of horns has multiple variants, each with a different hair design. We saw the devs scan through the majority of the bar, and we saw plenty of horn styles, but consistently for each we only saw four or so of the same hairstyles repeated each time.
Mohawk, cornrows, bun and bald are the only ones I can recall.
Which wouldn't have been so bad if the cornrows were a decent length. But they're short too.
Yeah, hair options are far from a make or break component for me. The Qunari is a new and interesting race and I am definitely excited for the horn options. I want to support this race as much as possible with the hopes they'll be playable again in future games.
I think it's bald for me.
Nope. Green hand only. The colour of the icon changes depending on health and, I think, status effects.
No It's the green hand.
Hopefully someone can manage to mod some of the human styles onto the hornless qunari.
Hopefully.
I was hoping for some hair/horn combinations similar to the draenei in Warcraft. Ah well. From what I've seen there are a lot of different short/broken horn options.
A few things I didn't like:
1. No character portraits. Like WTF? They wanted to make it so it could change color to red when the inquisitor was hurt? Okay, why not just have the character portrait flash red?
2. The difficulty, mixed with limited potions. I can already forsee that we will be dieing a lot in the game, and also that we will be making tedious journeys back to camp just to make more potions. The livestream was on normal difficulty and the guy got absolutely wiped in two instances. It seems the difficulty is way too unbalanced without mages actually healing, and forget about Nightmare for a first playthrough because it will probably be impossible. Ever since they revealed the 8-spell limit to the bar, I've been feeling less and less certain about the game. This doesn't help.
Guy on the nightmare difficulty is NOT having fun.
Looking good Duncan ![]()
i was loving every moment of that stream. Im suuuper happy about the character creator, the options! the sliiiiiders! that cool facial dragging thing woooo and i loved those little extra touches they made with the lips gloss and being able to alter it yaaaaay.
I agree its quite ridiculous
Who cares? If someone else doesn't want to play a race because of short hair, why does it matter?

Eh, he was rushing in without drawing aggro, using crowd control abilities or setting traps. Play with a little bit of care and you'll be fine. Or bump the difficulty down to easy.
Any place I can still watch this?
The CC looks incredible. It appears as though you'll be able to do a great deal with it.
My only gripe is that the Qunari horn/hair options shown do seem very limited. Hopefully we'll see some more hair styles in the finished game. Not sure why they're tied to each-other, given how all the horns appear to start out pretty much the same way. I was looking forward to longer/fuller hair. Oh well.
Cameron Lee was talking the whole time and not really paying that much attention to the game itself. If you don't pay attention expect to get killed if you play on normal mode and beyond.A few things I didn't like:

Character creation seems way more in depth than I had anticipated. Broken noses.
I'm sorry for those of you who were hoping for more hairstyles though.
Glad they showed off a bit more of the tactical combat as well. My biggest concern so far with this game has been that I wouldn't find the, you know, actual gameplay fun/intriguing.

That would make sense. I got scared by the no hairstyle bar and overreacted a bit. Granted he technically said "most" are available for all hair types, not all. I have a feeling hornless qunari might get special hairs.
I hope they put them in order though, them being seemingly random and not ordered by horn type or hair type really bothers me. This is gonna be so bad for my memory issues. I think I need to make a chart...

They did it more out of consistency. All of the companion portraits are highly stylized art, and for an RPG that lets you customize how your character looks they needed something to flow with everything else while still being indicative of your character. Personally, I liked the inquisition symbol better before they changed it to the hand. But to make a symbol look injured is more difficult than reddening up a hand. The very hand that is iconic to the inquisitor's unique ability and importance to the game.
I actually thought it was sort of cool that they wiped; it wasn't a random encounter, it was against a Hurlock Alpha, and their health was already depleted. I'm sure if we're careful, it won't be too punishing. I support the move towards a system that rewards putting a little more thought into our adventuring. Plus, they may have been under-leveled for that area for all we know.
what i didnt like is that even on easy i will still "have to be involved" in the combat....i just want it to be over fast goddamit....

My only gripe with the character creator is that they've gone and used sliders for everything again. it makes sense for things like nose height or whatever but it would be much easier to use the creator if they used icons for hairstyles and tattoos and the like. Or at least descriptions. The new Saints Row games do this really well.
Bit disappointed that we can't change the sclera colour in Qunari.
