The character creator is fine. I have no issues. I think the Qunari hairstyles look fine. They shouldn't look like humans or elves.

My issue is no healing and how it will be implemented. Cameron dying halfway through the map on NORMAL is concerning. Also, without healing, you go and explore an area and all of the enemies are completely leveled above you, you either have to try and grind through it or just turn around and get more potions. Or just abandon the map until you're leveled above the enemies. I just feel like there is going to be a lot wasted time and rage quitting. It also looks like the combat is completely based around combos. Which I kind of find limiting. So I imagine there's going to be a learning curve. It's a little troubling. They need to just increase the potion count, which I would imagine is an easy fix. I have a bad feeling people aren't going to respond well to this...at least, I know I won't. Especially those who like to rush in and start slashing away. If I have to have Varric set up traps to get through every battle...meh. And I don't WANT to have to play on easy because they decided to make the game uber challenging. (And for what reason, exactly? Who was asking for really challenging combat on NORMAL anyway?)

What's your issue with playing on easy, exactly? It sounds like you don't want challenging gameplay...so choose the non challenging difficulty. It's simple

So I watched the stream but had to go out after and I am now back to share my thoughts.

I have to admit I am also disappointed about the Qunari hair options, I knew we weren't going to get long flowing hair (like in all the concept art  <_<) but I didn't expect it to be that bad. I was hoping we would at least get something as long as the Qunari hairstyles in DA2 and I don't really get why a bit of length at the back would cause any trouble with the horns. Maybe it's just that the horns took a lot of time and effort or something so we get the horns instead of better hair? Anyway, it's not a big deal I guess and everything else about the CC was pretty amazing. I am still gonna make a female Qunari and she will still look awesome!

So the stuff I liked.

I liked that the full range of makeup options are also available to males and it looks like they also have some of the same hair options too (if not all of them). I never see the point of restricting them in games, it just seems like a waste. The customization looks really deep and the male human they made was actually quite attractive (other than the ridiculous cheekbones and ofc the crazy makeup mess). It looks like I will be spending a lot of time in the CC.

It was nice to see the game not being played on some kind of god mode, the combat looked changeling and I like that hard is actually going to be hard as i plan to start on hard mode.

The Demo was good, that area in the Deep Roads looked huge. It sounds like you will have to be quite tactical if you are not playing on easy, which is exactly what I wanted.

So over all I am very happy.  :P

The character creator looks to be a large improvement (by leaps and bounds) over what we've seen in either both prior DA games, or the character creator in all three Mass Effect games.

Is it just me, or is anyone else irked by the fact that they decided to talk/laugh during the sections that they were supposed be be letting us hear a sample of the voices?

They say say something like, "Here you go, if you listen you can hear the different array of voices available....."

And then they would just begin to wildly talk, really oblivious to the idea that we are supposed to be "listening" to this part and not watching.

Well they hinted at all kinds of other things you can do to heal and revive your party, Cameron really didn't look like he was trying very hard or paying much attention. In fact I think he may have died on purpose, they were obviously trying to show the more changeling aspects of combat. If it's too hard for you just play on easy and or invest in healing and defensive abilities.

They have done that in almost every demo they have shown. I don't think they really want to show us too much about the characters and the story, they are just showing off gameplay.

Wow, no health regen whatsoever. And he was playing on normal. No wonder this game is so long. We will spend half of it backtracking to forts and camps in order to restock and heal. Not to mention it just encourages us to run away from fights.

I don't have an issue with easy.  Normal is what I usually play on in Bioware games.  What I'm hoping is that Normal is a similar experience to the other two games in this franchise.  Normal shouldn't be the new Hard.  That's...what Hard is for.  I also think it's kind of bad combat mechanics when the average person is saying, "Well, I guess I'm going to have to play on easy" for such a silly reason as limiting healing in a party based game.  I really don't like the idea of making the game a grind by taking away healing.  I just think it's a strange decision.

But, I'm also willing to wait to play the game to make a final judgment.  As I sad, I just found it to be a little troubling.

Watching youtube version now and they refer to increasing customisation across all areas of the game which isn't true because they've decreased customisation in the abilities, which I would argue is one of the most important areas to have customisation in a combat based rpg.

No face codes? Dammit, I would have thought that would be built into advanced engines nowadays.

How you can you have customization in the abilities? You're gonna have to explain that one to me.

If you want the difficulty to be equivalent to "Normal" from previous titles then pick "Easy/Casual" in DAI since that is what you are asking for.

Also I don't get why some people are calling it a "grind". Clearly you always needed to put SOME thought into the combat portions, even in DAO. The only difference from what I've gathered is that instead of relying on Wynne spambot healing, you need to cast the occasional defensive ability and chug potions once in a while.

I'm only concerned for those that don't like combat at all and are here just for the story. Hopefully Casual will be reasonable,

Personally, I can't wait to try out nightmare!

Fair enough. I guess we just need to see how it plays out. I'm a little worried myself about the limitations to healing, but I suppose if I can survive the Souls games, I can survive this.

On another note, my gf, who really wasn't interested in dragon ago , saw a glimpse if them customizing a female qunari and is now hooked. We've converted another! Just show that character creator to the whole world!

That's what I assumed as well, but I wonder why not have the CC right in the beginning? I really don't care for these "play a while with our stock protagonist" intros before actually creating our own. <_<

I agree while I didn't mind DA2 if they are not going to specifically do a meta type storytelling twist at the start then just revert to what works.

Hmmmmm.... Can't tell without pausing the stream, but this was definitely an old build.

Qunari cards still state the +50 health instead of the 10% melee resist.

???

I'm watching it now? http://www.twitch.tv...are/b/573285688 Mostly so I can listen to the theme that plays int he beginning.

I know, I saw it. At first I thought that was for something else, I was under the impression that the CC demo was 2 hours long.

Customisation is tied to options and choices and they have reduced options in terms of abilities.

Voice samples shouldn't be very spoilery though.

I swear BioWare fans have the weirdest obsession with hair. As long as I can make a stereotypical manly action hero with a passive agressive attitude - and likely a small penis - personally I'm golden.

Is there a reason in the story/lore as to why there are no healing spells this time around?  I mean, there were entire healer skill trees in the past two games, so it's odd to just remove it when there have been actual "Spirit healers" in the recent games, right?

Ok, first thing that struck me was how Bad Cameron was at the game  (On purpose no doubt)

Second, the CC was pretty Cool. Reminded me of the one in Saints row (Minus the sex appeal slider)

Third, Nice Graphics although it is running on Frostbite so it's expected.

Fourth, Real time/ hack & slash  combat looks like absolute ass, I'm glad it's ineffective/ useless even on normal.

Its a real time with pause strategy game & that's how you are meant to play it. Bravo to Bioware there. Almost constant use of the Tactical cam is necessary even on normal. As it should be  :)

Finally, the "Use abilities effectively to gain Armour buffs" is pretty cool. Rewards good play so good players can keep exploring for longer.

This was the Best showing of the Game Bioware have put on so far, really good stuff on the Combat stuff. Keep it up B)

You heard it here first!  WriteSleepRepeat is the first to sign the petition for a penis size slider in the CC! ;)

There are healing spells. They are tied to "focus" and are not cast on a whim.

This is actually more "lore- friendly" than in previous titles as healing is very energy draining in the lore but DAO spambot healing made it look too easy. It's still "game-y" obviously.
