I am following open palm and trying to blackmail judge fang and gentle breezes won't give me the ring. She says "you wanted him dead, right?" Even though I specifically said not to...

Is there a way to fix this glitch or am I doomed to joining the murderers?

I've never run into that glitch so I wouldn't know.  Sorry, I know I'm not helpful but I figured I could at least give this a bump if you haven't already given up.

While this thread is very old, I just came across the same problem and didn't find a solution anywhere online, so I thought I'd add what I managed to figure out in case anyone else comes across it and needs help. This glitch seems to pop up if you don't have any companions with you, as the next line of dialogue is supposed to come from them. I ended up losing my companion due to a glitch at the Black Leopard school where the game doesn't recognize the end of a one-on-one duel properly, initiating a new duel with one of the students there solves the problem and lets you have companions again. Once you have a companion, they respond to Gentle Breezes and the conversation continues properly.
