Excuse me, but this Rogue starting talent blows chunks. In order to use it, the rogue must use a Move action (a minor action) to approach an enemy who is *more than* 6 yards away, it requires an opposed test, and it only adds 1d6 damage. If the rogue just attacked outright, they could pick that up in stunt points. Plus, a character who attacks from stealth has just caught their target's attention in a really big way, so unless the target is toe to toe with Merc or Tessa, the rogue may not be able to disengage and move on to a different target.

I understand the necessity of approaching from a distance, but the payoff seems weak.

I propose allowing the rogue to add the strength bonus a second time (once for the regular attack and once for the stealth bonus). Best case scenario, we're adding another 3 points to the damage roll. I think that's fair, but I'd like to hear what you think.

Once characters gain *true* Dual Wielding, they would be able to add their stealth bonus (and accompanying strength bonus) to both attacks, but right now, Dual Wielding is kind of a proto-talent, like Laurelin's shapeshifting. They can do little bits of it, but they don't reap the full benefit. So Dual Wielding rogues would only be able to apply the Backstab to one attack. Later, it would be applicable to both, like with DA2's Twin Fangs, but that won't come until Dual Wielding is available as a talent at 3rd level.

Does this sound fair? Discussion is welcome.

Sounds good to me! It appears there is hardly a benefit to go stealthy now, as it will only slow you down, but not give any real benefits. I'd say that the back is the lesser armored part of the body, or at least the least defended part, so it would make sense to do more damage.

Backstabbing an unengaged/unsuspecting target will probably not make much sense usually, I'd guess... Ok, it might give you the opportunity of the first blow, but it is unlikely that it is enough to disable the enemy, hence it will still turn around and attack you, as you have already mentioned, Ruth.

Maybe something for another topic, but I wonder if there are options for crowd control? I don't know... sap someone, distract them, so they will look in another direction, etc?

I have no stake in it since Tempest isn't a rogue, but sounds fair to me. :)

As a rogue, I approve. As someone who may face rogues in combat, I see the other edge of this blade.

It sounds fair to me, as well. :)
