DAI Reaver = DAO/2 Berserker?

DAO - Demonic spirits teach more than blood magic. Reavers terrorize their enemies, feast upon the souls of their slain opponents to heal their own flesh, and can unleash a blood frenzy that makes them more powerful as they come nearer to their own deaths.
DA2 - A true reaver has tasted the ritually prepared blood of a dragon. It is more than a state of mind. These fearsome warriors revel in death, regaining energy from the suffering of their foes.
DAI - As the battle gets bloodier, these vicious and deadly warriors get even more brutal. Hurting them just makes them mad, a mistake most enemies don't live to repeat.

DA:I description doesn't say anything about demons being unrelated all of a sudden?

Reavers still have the spirit damage aura and life drain ability that they've always had, and they still gain power based on how injured they are. Mechanically, they are the same as they've always been. I wouldn't worry too much about the wording of the class description. They probably didn't want to copy it verbatim, that's all.

Maybe they realised that it's unrealistic for lots of reavers to be running around if they're supposed to be super rare warriors that drank dragon blood?

Everything I've read seems to indicate that DAI Reaver is consistent with it's previous incarnations from the earlier games.

I hope The Reaver Spec in DAI will have elements from both the Berserker and Reaver Specs I loved Berserker and I hope B-Ware combined the two but thats just me.

Beserker is a cultural skill.. so I don't think it'll pop up much (or at all). Only dwarven warrior caste and Fereldens are disciplined in it.

I was kinda hoping Reaver would be more like Berserker, just for the sake of having a warrior dps specialization that doesn't require you to play as well...that.

Well yeah. Especially if the specializations end up having plot significance.

You wouldn't say that to Cannibal Johnson.

I never thought Devour was actually eating people, just taking their life force. Then again, you can just not use Devour.

For whatever reason, they shy away from saying it is in all of the descriptions, but in DA2 the animation clearly showed your character taking a chunk out of the target and eating it. I prefer the more literal extraction of "life force" anyway. Less cliche, not as many problematic implications.

Yeah, I think people are just letting their imaginations run wild on this...

Dragonlings aren't really that rare and few of them ever live to maturity. Their blood is probably the blood drank by generic reavers.

Alright, I just loaded an old DA2 file and saw this for myself... that's pretty damn gross. I didn't want to believe the rumors, but I can't argue with that kind of proof. I'm never picking that spec again.

Nah man. DA2 Reaver is the way to go. Cannibalistic Blood Warriors are the perfect foil to the Lyrium Swilling Paladin.
Nah, that's the one thing I don't touch in games... didn't play as a cannibal in any Fallout game, not even once in... well, a lot of playthroughs. xD At most, I'd try out a Reaver who abstained from using that power, but that sounds very impractical considering how much damage Ring of Pain can do and how hard it is to get healed. Without Devour, playing as a Reaver in DA:I sounds like a really bad idea.

Well, there's always Templar and Champion to fall back on...
Also, if you look at the most recent screenshots of the 2 handed tree, you can see at the bottom left the DA2 icon for "Berserk." Its position and a unique type of border it shares with the Haste spell (arrows in each corner of the diamond) lead me to believe that this is a Focus power now... no idea what it does though.
