Well, there's always Templar and Champion to fall back on...

Pick the sissies spec? No thanks, my warrior will enjoy feasting upon his enemies.

I think that Reaver being brought back is funny considering there being Healing Limitations "fewer potions/No Healing Magic" having a Spec that hurts yourself just seems odd to me.

Nah, that's the one thing I don't touch in games... didn't play as a cannibal in any Fallout game, not even once in... well, a lot of playthroughs.  xD  At most, I'd try out a Reaver who abstained from using that power, but that sounds very impractical considering how much damage Ring of Pain can do and how hard it is to get healed.  Without Devour, playing as a Reaver in DA:I sounds like a really bad idea.

I get it. It's like the Namira quest in Skyrim. But it's also a role play choice. Calenhad being a Reaver made him 100 x more interesting as well. Berseker is out because the Human PC isn't Fereldan and the Dwarven PC is a topsider. I would be disappointed if they retcon Reaver, because it's 'evil and disgusting'. That's what it's supposed to be. Some people'll have to make due with Champion/Templar.

Champion is the most defensive Warrior spec though... wouldn't that make them the toughest type of Warrior?

In Skyrim, I always skip that quest (well, I do it, but I do it in the way that purposefully fails) and never become a werewolf... cannibalism is just too gross, but I can see the value in including it, since it seems to be pretty popular.

As for the rest, I'm not really in favor of a retcon, I just never realized what this spec was really about.  Heck, I only heard of this about 2 months ago, and only tonight have I finally believed what I was told... for years I assumed the Reaver just drained "life energy" like the DA:O spell or even Grave Robber.  *shrugs*  No big deal really... I can just play as a Beserker/Templar in DA2... In DA:O, I rarely touched the Warrior class, so that doesn't really matter.

A sissy behind a shield! If your warrior isn't wielding a 2h, butchering and spilling the blood of anything that comes in contact with him/her then you're doing it wrong.

I'd rather Champion get the boot over Reaver. Warriors could have had a new spec, or even a reason to bring back Spirit Warrior and have it actually make sense, but instead we get the "beige" of Warrior specs. So whitebread and innocuous.

I only get one spec this time around, and I'm not going for beige.

Yes, well any human that consumes human flesh is also "doing it wrong."

Champion is a tank spec. That's why it's there. It's isn't whitebread so much as a staple. If it wasn't champion, then it'd be tanking oriented skills under some other name.

To me its not the eating my foes its just that it is impractical with the strict healing limitations now if DAI had Spirit Healer or hell just a dedicated Healing Tree of magic but as there are none  it really makes Reaver seem like a bad choice.

Devour has an 8 second cooldown according to the MP description.  It also gets stronger if you are inside the Ring of Pain... the only real problem is that it costs 65 stamina, but who knows if that will be an issue or not.... IMO it looks viable so long as you are careful.

I just think Reaver is stupid. The whole concept doesn't make much sense, in practical terms. Eating flesh during battle, etc..

In Mass Effect, at least it coincides with biotics a little more believably (you're stealing lifeforce there too, but it's through biotics, from a distance).

Devour is bolstered by Ring of Pain (stationary Aura of Pain w/o the damage to self). Reaver is ironically the best spec for self healing.

Eh, I'll just imagine it's like Zandatsu, rip out their meat bits and extract electrolytes to regain health.

Raiden should just drink gatorade.

What's not to get? You bind yourself to a dragon by drinking it's blood in exchange you get Spirit/Entropy powers. Devour is a crude form of the Death Magic spell.

I didn't say I didn't get it. I said it's impractical. Too much multitasking for a warrior.

Or maybe I'm just used to seeing Drain Life skills from mage classes in most RPGs.

Personal headcaon: Hawke (as a Reaver) kills the Arishock the same way Raiden kills Armstrong.

The other thing is that depending on how Barrier works, it may be possible to stay at a 50% health or lower for a very long time (say, if you have multiple mages in the party who alternate casting Barrier to bypass the cooldown), then recharge fully by quickly putting down a Ring and casting Devour.  There is a lot of potential in this spec, and we've only seen 2 powers.

Honestly if I had a chance the one Warrior Spec I would give the Axe it would be Templar I think the whole thing about it only being useful against Mages/Casters is a little stupid.

I would gladly have replaced Templar with Spirit Warrior/Guardian either would be better in my opinion.

I just want Spirit Warrior to come back.

considering that the fade is a big part of inquisition, I think this would have been a cool idea.  Maybe they can rename it as Rift warrior?  but then rogue would feel left out.

They also get a damage bonus against Fade creatures... you know, like the Elder One and his minions?  <_<

At best they can reintroduce Spirit Warrior as a multiplayer character. Hopefully you can get it in singleplayer as part of a dlc campaign.

We're already a freak by being a herald of Andraste. Whatever that is. Spirit Warrior would be kind of overkill in the whole "special" and "talking to spirits/angels" thing.
