I'm getting a reputation, it seems.

I would've made you a "Yo, Dawg" Reaver meme if asked, but you meme'd yourself.

I wouldn't mind the reaver story wise if it came up as something other than the life choice of a not especially hygienic cave dwelling nutter. The only difference between Kolgrim and that Brecillian forest hobo was the fact that Kolgrim had friends.

I just realized you can use Devour on Darkspawn.

I'm pretty sure Devour isn't limited by any enemy type, meaning you can also Devour rage Abominations.

Literally grabbing a chunk of and ingesting magic lava.

Lore-wise you don't "have" to be a cannibal to be a Reaver, its more about the injury releasing "life-energy" or whatever, whether that be your own or someone elses.

In DAO you can draw energy from corpses; in DAII its about absorbing their life energy.

Which you can do to some extent simply by killing them as well.

Cannibalism isn't a "necessary" part.

Its probably just what happens due to the aspects of increased aggression plus what ever lingering life energy is left over in the flesh, so they figure why not just eat it?

Really; if you think about it, they are less a warrior version of a blood mage and more a human/warrior version of a demon, they feed off of souls or spiritual energy.

Also technically didn't Kolgrim live in either the Temple or Haven?

I mean; he probably had low ranking members of the cult to take care of his hygienic needs.

Though they didn't seem like that "clean" of a people with all those corpses just left hanging around....

But Kolgrim served Andraste!

I like the Reaver spec but you'd think people would notice something is off about them.

I mean Bioware got rid of Blood mage spec because inquisitor being led by a blood mage would make no sense but the people of thedas are fine with the warrior who drinks dragon blood and likes to bite people's arm off as being their boss.

A reaver can only kill you.  They're hardly special in that regard.  Blood Mages can control your mind and force demons into your body.

According to the wiki "Reavers are warriors who use blood magic to give themselves power. It is believed that like blood magic, humanity learned how to harness this ability through Demons."

The average believer of the Maker *Cough* Most of thedas *Cough* would still fear them and their powers.

Then again, the reaver ritual might be a secret like the Grey Warden ritual so most people might just be oblivious to it. Still doesn't explain how no one questions their eating habits though.

If it's Iron Bull we learn Reaver from, it'll probably involve drinking dragon's blood on a dare.

Bioware said that we won't be learning the specs from companions this time. I do think he will comment on it.

You're right. He was a really devout cave dwelling nutter.

Just because the IB came up with a creative name for it doesn't mean you should... swallow... what he offers you.

Technically they are supposed to have an "aura" that puts people off and makes them uncomfortable to be around.

It just doesn't show up much in-game.
