Now with DA 2 I played and finished the game so many times I lost count at least 15 maybe more than that lol.
How many times did you complete playthroughs of DA:O & DA2?

I have eleven characters who got through Origins, eight of whom are through Awakening. I wanted to get a ninth through because she is the only one I have who hasn't somehow wound up with Zathrian dead and is also my only Warden who killed Genitivi to protect the secret whereabouts of the Ashes. (I wanna know how the peace conference is happening in Haven despite her latter decision, and don't want to complete any decisions in the Keep unless they correspond to a game or DLC I don't own.)
I don't own Dragon Age II.

I wonder how people can be intrested in playing with amounts they have, I mean I'm already too familiar with DAO to even try another playthrough, it's just boring now!
I have 3 Wardens and 3 Hawkes completed (countless incomplete one's):
Raven Cousland: My anger-management issues Warden.
Wunther Tabris: My cowardly Warden.
Catrine Cousland: My no-f's given Warden.
Ania Hawke: Jokester archer.
Niall Hawke: Diplomatic blood mage.
Kayla Hawke: Aggressive assassin.

4 for DA:O, two Couslands and two Dwarf Commoners. Not sure why I love the Dwarf Commoner so much, just found them particularly badass. Currently working on my 5th play through as a Dalish Elf.
Only 2 for DA:2, one mage and one rogue. May play again as a warrior, we'll see.

I completed Both games with all DLC and Expansions 4 times. This year.
I reinstalled the Dragon age games recently and started playing them as preparation for Inquisition.
Before that I finished 6 DAO playthroughs, most without any DLC but with Awakening. So that makes 10 playthroughs for DAO.
For DA2 I'm not quite sure. I can only remember 5 older, finished playthroughs but I have a feeling that it actually were more. Anyways, together with those recent 4 it were at least 9 finished playthroughs.
Might do another run for both games until DAI comes out, although I might not be abe to finish it in time.
I'm hoping, that Inquisition will have as much replay-value for me like it's predecessors.

I also get very invested in my first play through of a game and have a hard time taking any alternate play throughs seriously. The Mass Effect games are some of the very few that I've replayed, but even then I basically played through them as the same character again.

DAO I finished about 10 times, each playthrough doing a different combination of things
DA2....I'd say about an equal number, if not more.

Around 10 for DAO...maybe more? I honestly could not keep track, all I know is that it is a lot lol.
I even played DA2 quite a fair bit, I think probably about 6 or 7 time maybe? Again, I'd be struggling to remember specifics, it has been a while and over different consoles/platforms for both.

Oh my god
I had no idea people re-played any games let alone DA:O or DA2 that much. I thought twice (or maybe it was 3?) for DA:O was high... wow... facts like these just blow my mind.
Honestly I think the most I've ever replayed a single game would be like 5, over the course of many years... wow.... fascinating...

4 playthroughs of DAO and 4 playthroughs of DA II.
I could never understand how some people can have 10+ playthroughs. How come you don't get bored?

Let's see, in order, I think:
Female Cousland (rogue - archer)
Female Cousland (warrior)
Female Surana
Female Aeducan (warrior)
Female Tabris (warrior)
Female Surana
Female Dalish (dual rogue)
Female Broska (dual rogue)
Female Cousland (dual rogue)
Female Tabris (dual rogue)
Plus a male Aeducan rogue and a male Tabris rogue who were both working through the Landsmeet when a harddrive crash wiped them out, and a male Dalish warrior that I'm currently playing. Obviously, I like elves a lot, but I actually like the dwarf origins much more than it would seem, and the human a lot less (the second human rogue was so I had a non-archer rogue Warden Queen to run through Awakening). Never played DA 2. I'm not someone who jumps to a new game every few weeks, and I've enjoyed the possibilities with the different origin-race and class combinations (though I'm so ready for something new at this point).

Roleplaying. You give them a different personality, etc. then you really do get a different experience (that is, unless the fights are the only things that really matter for you).

Exactly. And even going back to old concepts after a while can be fun.

That's why I can understand 1-5 playthroughs, but 15, 20? The experiance isn't that different. Sure, you can change your race and gender and with that get a story from a different perspective, but the overal plot is always the same.

I'm a series newbie, only got to and played Origins for the first time a month or so ago. Beat it twice now, and DA2 once (getting through my 2nd, and I got most of the DLC too). I meant to get into the series years ago, but sadly, never worked out. Seeing the trailer at E3 this year, and the battle with the dragon, I knew it was time.
Origins:
John (warrior) - he was the biggest arse to ever walk in Thedas
Andrea (warrior) - (my canon) Heroic, noble, loved Leliana... and died. ![]()
DA2:
Default FemHawke (rogue) - sarcastic, and stabbed Anders, because he lied.
Default FemHawke2 (warrior) - still sarcastic, but I'm exploring more of the game this time.
I'm gonna make a BroHawke in The Keep for my DA2 canon.

I did it over the course of years, taking long breaks, sometimes measurable in months, and I never played as the same character twice. Every single one of my characters is at least a little different than the ones who came before him/her, and I'm not talking cosmetically. (Though I switch that up a lot too.)
At the start, that was easy. My Human Noble rogue (who you see beside this text) wasn't really metagamed all that much, apart from saving before I made my decision with regards to how I handled Connor just in case Jowan turned out to be bigger scum than I'd planned for, and creating a new save right before I sided with Harrowmont that I didn't end up using. (By the time I'd read up on Harrowmont's inadequacy I'd gotten farther through the game than I wanted to replay over it.) Then I created a complete asshat of an EM who was metagamed for the worst outcomes, and after him a paladinesque (if a bit inclined to think with his other head) DC warrior metagamed for the best.
After that it started to get a little boring, and I had to switch it up in other ways. My first time killing Connor, for instance, was as my dwarven noble rogue. My first DE was also my first Two-Handed Warrior. My next character was a CE, who I decided was going to kill Loghain and still have Anora marry Alistair. Then was my King Cousland, since I was fresh out of new Origins and I hadn't played that one in the longest. I made him a Berserker-Reaver, since I'd never played Reaver. (He was also my first sword-and-shield warrior.) Then was Sarai Amell, who was my first female character and also kind of a sex addict; Diana Mahariel, who was a psychotic Dalish Elf who hated the Chantry; my first Arcane Warrior, Roanna Surana; and a magic obsessed dwarven princess named Akarei Aeducan who is essentially a mage in all but name due to her specs. (Templar and Reaver, and if I play her in Awakening I'm throwing Spirit Warrior onto the pile. I also gave her very nearly 100% spell resistance with a combination of the right gear and her own slight power in that direction.)

There are a lot of ways the Landsmeet can turn out, for instance. And if you take a different group of companions, you get different companion banter and interjections into conversations (I just discovered that Shale is really rude to Isolde if Alistair isn't in the party, for instance). You end up with different combinations of armies during the battle of Denerim, depending on who you sided with along the way. Do you live or die or does someone else die at the end? So yes, while the basic plot ends with someone jamming a sword through the archdemon's head, the story along the way can be quite different. People get different things out of playing games; I also reread good books several times too, because they ARE good. Truthfully, I'd have stopped with my Brosca run most likely which would have given me one of each origin. But I haven't seen any new games that look interesting enough from a story perspective that I'd want to play them for at least 4 months, which is a minimum for me to feel a game is worth my time.

Haha, BioWare games are the ONLY games I ever replay. Other games just aren't worth it, imo, but BioWare games have such depth. You can roleplay to your heart's content. Also, I take breaks in between playthroughs. Origins has been out for 5 years now and DA2 for 3 years so there's been plenty of time for lots of playthroughs. XD
