It's made clearer than I'd want to argue against without actual evidence.
Unfortunately, I can't argue further without bringing up Keep points that I'm not allowed to talk about yet.

She was good, not bad as a templar Carver, moody(post Awakening) Anders or Fenris during one of his episodes, but in the end they are my crew, and my job is to help/care for them. Still Bethany is my favorite.

Then remind me about this discussion later.
I liked Aveline because she was stalwart and dutiful. I hope we get to see more of her in the future, especially when it concerns her family's past in Orlais.
Does anybody know exactly when her father was exiled from Orlais? I'm thinking of a possible story where this happened before Empress Celene's ascension.
Aveline is an amazing character, she has a lot of depth, and when it comes down to it, my Hawkes' best friend.
Her response to Hawke blaming her was awesome. Made Hawke look like a child.
I find it hard to blame her when the odds were stacked against you from the start. Most of the endings in this game are inevitable. The best you can do is try to garner enough friendship and happiness as possible.
Yes, Aveline was serious most of the time, but loyal and kind-hearted. I liked her.
shes a good tank.
she is annoying though.
As a person? yes
As a Guard-Captain? No. I find her inept at times and overrated, because although the codex tries to make her seem like she's great her actions throughout the game show how she's not a great captain. Better then Jeven, but that's not too hard to achieve.
Agreed, she also was highly annoying in her hypocritical nature about, which laws to follow. She refused to investigate her own Guards for a rape they had done on a Elven woman after she had heard rumors of the attack. If I had been her, I would have investigated them even so it would put the rumors to rest and if they were true aresst these Jack butts for a crime they had committed. Although, I am not racist that hated the elven, nor am I hypocritical on, which laws I follow. As a person? yes

After my Pro-templar playthrough I really started to enjoy her as a character.
But I couldn't help but agree with my Aggressive Hawke about how it was the Guards fault about Quentin. The Serial Killer in Kirkwall.
But her scene after Leandra's death is one of my all time favorites in the DA series.
I don't doubt she's a good character but she just doesn't work for me and my playstyle. In all my playthroughs I brought her along only if it was necessary for quests. I really don't like all the self righteousness, she can be really annoying and she clashes with my Hawke like crazy. But then again, I found most companions in DA2 boring or/and annoying except for Isabela and Varric (and Tallis!). I LOVED Anders in Awakening, he was my favorite, but in DA2 there were times I just wanted to slap the hell out of him.
Good tank indeed.
i just hate her personality, my gf liked her however.
She has a good personality that separates her from the rest of the characters in Dragon Age II. Her character has a slight cliche to it but every game needs lawful, soldier-like character. That being said, I had always that she should look more aesthetic. ![]()
