So, since we now have updated info on all the specializations (on the DA:I website if you didn't know!) I was wondering if anyone's views on them changed, and if that affected your possible Inquisitors?
eg: I was originally planing on a Qunari Knight-Enchanter. After thinking about it, I don't see her being all "Look at ma magic sword!" but more logical and stoic. With the new info, it seems Rift Mage (the spec. I was probably least interested in before) is now the sort of path i'm seeing her take.
As with Artficer/Tempest. I had assumed Artificers were the "techy" spec., utilising both traps AND grenades. Now that they seem primarily trap focused, however, i'm switching my eccentric Dwarf grenadier to Tempest, and making my scout-like Qunari archer an Artificer.

I was going to go with Champion, but then I learned that it was heavily focused on tanking... so now I'll probably have to go with Templar, although I was hoping to avoid that spec on my first run. The others are pretty much what I was expecting, except for Tempest, but I never had any interest in that spec to begin with.

Was planning a Dalish Knight Enchanter for my first play through. No change, still seems like the most interesting spec.

Still giving the Tempest a shot, even though I thought that it was a true-front line mined rogue that could wield something other than knives and bows.

For my mage, I think I'm still leaning Knight Enchanter. Necromancer sounds like it'll be a little disappointing (many of the powers discussed in its description are spells we've already had from non-spec trees), but Rift Mage is quite appealing.
For the rogue, I want alchemy and gadgets... So the choice between Artificer and Tempest will be very difficult.
Warrior: No contest. Reaver or bust.

A Champion Templar. Might sound like an oxymoron to the pro-mage crowd, but it works for the first Inquisitor I'm planning. It'll be the first time I've created a pro-Circle character that wasn't a throwaway.

I thought you could only pick one specialization this time around?

Maybe I just assumed, but I was pretty confident about that. I myself am still deciding whether to pick a Tempest or a Templar, because I still haven't decided my first Inquisitor's class.

I am not going to use any specializations. I like playing as a mage and of my favorite magic builds is what I call the Archmage or the master of magics.
The fact of the matter is, if you do not invest yourselves in specializations, you can become a very powerful and a very well rounded magi.
Specializations confine you to very specific roles. Not choosing them allows you to master magical schools as a whole which allows you to deal with anything and everything.

I'm planning to play as a sword and shield warrior first. Since there will be story consequences for the specialization I'm not making my Inquisitor addicted to Lyrium, so Templar is out, and I'm not making them a Reaver since the Hawke I'm brining in was a Reaver. The Warden and Hawke I'm brining in are both warriors so I like to have some differences in specializations at least.
Champion works out for me since my Inquisitor will be a human so perhaps that can translate to Ostwick getting their first Champion.

The Lyrium thing isn't new. Even though you never see it in any way. It says outright that small ammounts of lyrium are used by Templar specialized hawke in DA:II So it may or may not have as big effect as people think.
As for me I'm likely to go either assassin or Necromancer. Necromancer sounds much like my force/spirit mage from DA:II Though the Knight Enchanter could be an interesting way to go as well.

I might wait for another playthrough for Necromancer though, I just really wanna play that at some point!

Still going for reaver for my first warrior.
Still going for assassin for my first rogue.
No more rift mage for me though. It sounds a bit too much like force mage which I didn't like because it was so OP and seemed to come out of thin air (lore-wise I mean). Gonna switch to necromancer.

I still have no idea what I'm choosing for my first female Qunari warrior.
Templar definitely doesn't suit her, but Reaver or Champion might. Probably Reaver, because a Qunari Reaver sounds kinda awesome.

For my lady elf mage: Rift mage.
When I eventally play a rogue maybe I'll go with Artificer.

I'm also torn on my qunari warrior's spec. I haven't played a sword and shield warrior yet, so I was going to do that (Champion) but this Inquisitor is supposed to be a genderbent Iron Bull, so two-handed Reaver would probably fit her better! My warrior Warden in this world state was a Reaver, however... so I'm hoping sword and shield Champion will work out.
As for my elf rogue... I was going to make her an archer, and none of the specs seem appropriate for a Dalish hunter. I may end up not choosing a spec at all, depending on how much I like the other skill trees. I'm not a big fan of traps or bombs, so if I do choose a spec I will probably use Assassin.
