Like in Origins? Or are you suggesting a mabari that actually wears battle armour, and not just kaddis?
Either way, no mabari companion in Inquisition.

Like in origins or have it be an ability like in dragon age 2 but make it so you can customize it.
I know there is no planned mabari companion. Bioware said it will only be the 9 named already and no new companions in DLC. I said it would be awesome I didn't say it's going to happen

Nope. The Inquisitor is not Ferelden, so no Mabari companion.

What does being fereldan have to with ability to own a war beast? Pretty sure countries have boats and can ship ppl and animals
Because the commonday Mabari hound is a Fereldan nobility thing. Hence why the Free Marchers call them "Dog Lords"

The mabari hound is a Fereldan thing period, it's not a nobility hobby. Ash Warriors train and bond with mabaris and they're not nobles, Hawke her/himself had a mabari and they were poor as hell, living in a hovel in backwater Lothering. The mabari found at Ostagar will bond with a filthy casteless dwarf or city elf as strongly as the one you got from dad in the human noble origin. It's the culture of bonding and raising them to be war hounds that makes mabari unique to Ferelden, not the status of the imprinted owner.
Free Marchers call Fereldans Dog Lords in the same way Orlesians call them Turnips. It's supposed to be offensive, but in such a juvenile "poopiehead" way that Fereldans just don't care.
In any case,
I think it would be awesome to be able to have a customizable mabari companion that can wear different armors
I do agree that even if we're confirmed to not have a mabari companion, I'd still like to have one, even if they only appear at the Keep's kennels... or in our Inquisitor's quarters. We're going back and forth between Ferelden and Orlais, we could always pick up a beautiful proud mabari while in dog lord land to call our own.

I'll miss doggie. he was cool and novel. I'm thinking a mount won't have quite the same effect

technically, the Marches where Hawke was during almost all DAII is not in Ferelden. However, there was a mabari summon. When don't they add such a summon as a bonus for some preorders ?

Hawke was from Ferelden, though, and they brought the mabari with them to the Free Marches.
I think it's already been confirmed that there won't be a mabari companion this game, though I'm pretty sure they will appear in some form. The community team at PAX Prime had special Inquisition versions of the mabari plushies that are dark brown instead of tan.

but the majority of mabari hounds seen so far are Fereldan and it is kind of what they are known for. they are even instrumental to their battle tactics.

In DAO, Dog was awesome. Party banter, bringing you cool stuff, you name it. But he took up a party slot that could quite frankly be put to better use with one of the other characters. In DA2, Dog had its uses, but there was a definite lack of personality there. I wouldn't mind a dog DLC, but if it happened, I think I'd like something of a hybrid.

I also seem to remember one of your DA:2 companions (Sebastian, I think), commenting on how the mabari is a sign of Ferelden nobility. Also notice how the human NOBLE is the only one that actually STARTS with a mabari?
But I agree, anyone can HAVE one (like you said, all the Ash Warriors have one, and the mabari can imprint themselves onto womever).

also notice that none of the other origins are Fereldans that have the oppurtunity to have a pet, the Fereldan Circle didn't allow pets (Anders couldn't have a cat).

I loved the mabari companion from DA:O and would love to see one added as possible companion in DA:I. I, for one, would choose to travel with the mabari in my party through most of the game if it was available.

I would like to have a mabari walking around skyhold. Hunting rats and finding valuable items for use.
A dragon age game ain't complete if you don't have a faithful mabari hound at your side. Maybe a dwarfquisitor could ride a mabari into battle instead of a horse. lol.
All my mabari's have been called Wrex. Wrex II in DA2. So i want a Wrex III. The circle must be complete! ![]()

Plus it would be cool when doing the judgments there, that we could be seen stoking or patting them on the head whilst discussing the potential sentence.

I'm fine with not having a mabari this time around, but I am not really a fan of dogs in the first place... however, I'd support this idea if I had the option of choosing a different pet. Although I don't know of any small Thedosian creatures that would be a good substitute... I definitely don't want a deepstalker... um...

Why a customizable mabari has not been forthcoming really bugs me; damn do I wish that they had given us that option!
Dog-lover that I am, there have been a number of playthroughs where my mabari was the only tank that I allowed to accompany me (with a party comprised exclusively of rogues and mages).

Thank the maker for that I was getting sick of the hound already

Hope and pray that the only reason why a Mabari companion hasn't been revealed is because BioWare want to surprise us.
