I plan to use all of the characters and swap them around from time to time, but at this point I predict my main party will be...

 

Male Elf Warrior Inquisitor

Cassandra

Dorian

Vivienne

 

From what I've seen so far, this team shares similar goals and I don't foresee any personality issues or conflicts.

 

Oh yeah, the advisors... I predict that this one will get the most use out of Cullen, but there will be times when he also relies on Josephine's diplomatic skill.  Leliana, on the other hand, will see little to no use, since this Inquisitor finds espionage to be dishonorable.

Inquisitor (female elf, class undecided. the spread of the rest of my party means she could be whatever really)

Solas - husbando

Cole - my son

Cassandra - alternate universe waifu, she was my first choice for an LI but obviously she is straight /weeps

 

though I will be switching someone out if taking someone else would make sense for plot/RP reasons ex. take Blackwall to deal with Wardens. 

 

most used/go-to advisor will probably be Cullen. my elf is quite thuggish and warlike, her first instinct is to smash her way through issues and beat problems into submission.

- Cassandra (LI)

- Dorian/Solas (whichever Mage is more interesting and isn't Vivienne)

This will probably be my first playthrough party. I will change it when I do more playthroughs =) but I will make sure to take several party members to the right plot points. You know, to experience as much as possible!

Inquisitor - Female Human Mage

 

Varric, because you need your storyteller to experience it first hand and because I thing he's hilarious

 

Blackwall or Cass (I'll likely rotate them depending on who seems most effective or who is most in tune with the mission) because I'm going to need a fighter and I don't like Qunari

 

Sera, because she sounds the most interesting and should bounce well off of Varric based on the info I've read and thus I'll get some funny party banter

That will be my main party. I'll also be using Vivienne and Varric a lot (probably Cassandra as well). The other three will probably not be used as much.

I feel like I've previously run into having to rotate characters based on the situation, and that's not a huge deal for me. For example, if it is more beneficial for me to bring Dorian on a quest, so that I get some extra story (or something), then I will do so. I also don't know how I will like each character, but we'll see how it goes.

 

With all that in mind, during my first play-through, the party I am most interested in exploring with is:

Lots of planning, but no permanent companions spots. Going to rotate companions based on areas, tasks, and whatever other factors I feel necessary. I'll give some examples with my canon Inquisitor who is a Human Mage.

I was dead-set on having Cole in my main party, but I don't know it would be best to have two dual wielding assassins in my group (including my Inquisitor). Maybe one should be an archer instead meaning either Sera or Varric instead of Cole.

Vivienne my front line defensive nuke mage

 

Dorian our straight out pure nuke machine  with debuffs and romance.

 

Iron bull will be our snb tank

 

I'll switch Dorian with Varric incase we need a rogue for the mission.

Same, Sera will be a permanent fixture though. Will switch out Cass now and again for the Bull and perhaps switch out Viv for Dorian from time to time.
