Once again, the issue is what are you looking at in 'armor'.
Mages look for minimal (or none) protection against sharp objects, necessary protection against elements (no, one should not be constantly using magic to warm themselves up unless absolutely necessary) and good mobility. In which case armor posted by nici is perfect. I don't think mages should be stuck wearing chain - if nothing else it's heavy. Nor do I think they should be wearing long flowing robes either as moving around in those in combat seems...problematic (heels go into the flowing robe category, horribly impractical)
Rogues will want slightly more protection against sharp objects, but have emphasis on not making noise for moving around undetected.
Note on rogues: The class itself is fairly poorly defined. Normally an assassin would either use bow (just like in modern days sniper rifle would be preferred method of assassination), or murder people when they are defenseless (poison, knife in the back, whatever). Thief would sneak in to steal things or pick pockets. Neither of these characters would be wearing any meaningful armor as they were never meant to engage in combat with armed and armored foes. The 'dual wielding front line rogue' should really be reclassified as a 'martial arts warrior'. But whatever, real assassinations don't really fit the fast paced combat very well.
Front line warriors will want as much protection from sharp objects as possible, with just enough mobility to get to their enemy and be able to swing at them. So yes, full covering mail at the least, plate armor with best armor joint cover possible and full plate helmets to deter enemy archers.
Anyway, I am sure I have not said anything that hasn't been said plenty of times before.
