I think it's okay to go sexy and impractical way in video games if it's done equally to both genders. It's simply sexist if male character has full armor and female character steel bikini. There should be equality.
This is not okay and shouldn't be tolerated:

The woman's issue is obvious, but the man's shoulder pauldrons are so huge he won't be able to move his arms. The enemy can just walk up to him and stab him in the head.
Yeah, that's not equally impractical. The female armor protects her from absolutely nothing. Well, maybe someone would be dissuaded from kicking her in the shins. All the dude has to do is lose the pauldrons and he's fine.

Golly, it's almost like a removed the post or something. ![]()
It would be amusingly sad if DA:I went out of its way to advertise how tactical combat is and how you have to plan ahead only to give you retarded armor. Hey, if you want to be tactical, maybe think about arrows and blades being stuck into your vital organs before moving on to advanced strategy?
Thankfully everything we've seen in this respect goes in the opposite direction, which is great. ![]()
I finally broke down decided to make a little test tryout...
sexy isnt about sex, sex isnt about sexy outfit and blah blah blah blah blah...
I googled Sexy outfits..... I dont think I can post some of them ![]()
Needless to say, it popped up with alot of lingerie....
Sexy clothes on the other hand isnt as much lingerie.
so, why not.... sexy armor next...
lots of bikini's.... showing female body... basically... lingerie.... Yep, gotta love staring at women in lingerie. (I do, seriously.) ![]()
googling Practical armor.... extremely little lingerie, actual armor. ![]()
then finally boob armor.... wow, interesting... not much lingerie, some armor lower hang... and...a plate of boob armor, that appeared anatomically correct version of "boob" armor.
I decided to just do this out of the blue... watching some of the debate, frankly..... *shrugs*
I already said I am for both.... choices is always good. But when you say "sexy" armor and google it... end up with alot of lingerie.... LINGERIE!!! Lingerie! That isnt armor, that is bedroom stuff. ![]()
But I am open for choices, I find alot of practical armor sexy as is anyways. I find the female quisitor sexy in every clothing/armor they shown.
The new armors made look hot . I don't need to see a belly button..to think sexy....
I want stuff like this, sexily awesome.
I'm glad the crazy freaky JRPG armour is not a part of DA, I doubt I would have played it. And no, not a prude, but given the universe and lore (not realism but consistency we have) that sort of armour showing up after 2 games would be hella weird.
Armor designs can look both practical and visually appealing. The two don't necessarily have to be mutually exclusive. For example:

I love the female pc's armor, I hope da has some armor like that.
I want my chara to look hawt.

I second the approval of this post. Flattering, attractive, and "realistic".

Is that girl not like 100x tougher than the guy though?
Hit his armor -10 health, hit her bare stomach.... -10 health.

What do you mean by "shouldn't be tolerated", exactly? You don't want it in Dragon Age? Fine, me neither. You don't want it in any game you play? Also fine, you're free to buy or not buy games according to whichever criteria you like.
But if a company wants to do stuff like this in their game and people buy it, then there's nothing wrong with that. As already mentioned, you do have the option of not buying the game.

It shouldn't be tolerated at all cause it's sexist to have guys in full armor and women in the steel bikinis. Like I said there should be equality.

IMO, You are overacting a little bit here.
There is a lot of femdom stuff everywhere in various forms, so should I, as a male be against it ? Nope. There are people liking it - let them watch / do it / have it, whatever...
It's not like its existence is going to hurt me personaly in any way.
But anyway, this thread is going in the wrong direction, too political. Nazis before, tolerance now ... nope - the thread's title says:
"The choice between "sexy" and awesome armor"
let's stick to it.
In some conan-like world I wouldn't mind some steel-bikinis (even though they'd still be rather unrealistic of course), and I have a selection of revealing armours for Skyrim too, as they fit my Nord Barbarians a bit more, especially if added some awesome fur-cloaks.
For this game, well, a bit of skin for mage-robes, like Morrigan's original outfit? No problem. But Metal-Bikini a la Red Sonja? No thanks. Rather I'd have armour more inspired by "Game of Thrones" ... those are sexy looking plate armours that still have a fantasy-feel to them
My definition of sexy believable armor....
You there. I like your taste.
I don't really care anymore, I probably won't even end up playing DA:I at this rate. But you guys will and I'm sure the designs will reflect your tastes in that respect.
I guess I just wanted to establish to my satisfaction that one person's progressive hero is another person's ultra-conservative reactionary... it certainly has felt that way to me, at any rate.
Well, I wanted to say, even though I'm a heterosexual male, I find women in full plate armor more attractive than skimpy steel bikinis and the like, but that's just me. I'm also not necessarily a good representation of heterosexual males on the whole seeing as I'd rather see a woman in a suit and tie than high heels and a short dress. Not to say that I don't fantasize about naked women and women in only underwear, but that's not what I'm really hoping to see them in on the day to day or in a fantasy front-line battle. Bottom line, it'd be awesome if everyone could just get all the options they wanted.

Well for me, its not that I don't find the skimpy steel bikinis attractive, it just sort of ruins the experience for me because first of all why would anyone go into a fight like that, and second I am not playing this game to get turned on. So yeah, imo skimpy steel bikinis should be left off the battlefield.Well, I wanted to say, even though I'm a heterosexual male, I find women in full plate armor more attractive that skimpy steel bikinis and the like, but that's just me. Yep. Having a choice is the key.

Well said.
Exposed skin makes a lot more sense for your unarmored classes, like mages.
