Well then that makes the point that it's basically somewhat arbitrary to begin with, you are always striking some kind of middle point between style and grounded aesthetics. As part of that arbitrary decision, I'd say combat outfits are prime for being offered up and made fun for everyone.

I see Korean MMOs or Japanese games blend the two all the time, stylized but somewhat relevant, I don't know why that can't happen here.

As long as its not in the same anime style as those, fine. I cant play those games. I tried another one similar but keep loosing interest. I was going to play Borderlands when they initially showed it off. When they changed styles, I still havent bothered, regardless how many says its good. I cant get into it.

Now I'm excited, too. Anyway, I did throw my marginal tablet skills briefly at the problem. The whole time, my pencil and paper was staring at me judgmentally, being like "You know you can't draw with that device. What are you doing?", and I was all like "WELL, I CAN'T FIND MY SCANNER SO ALL I CAN SHARE IS AWFUL COMPUTER STUFF". I can actually kind of draw. And maybe someday I'll learn to do that with computers, too. Heyo, practice.

I really hope Eyezonli does something!

Anyhow, I think another thing I'm really hoping for here is that there's a fair amount of variation in styles of armor. I do tend to like my heavy plate heavy, but lighter armor should get a bit crazier. I didn't particularly mind Dragon Age 2's designs, except Aveline running around with nothing on her elbows, because that's just asking to get scraped up.

just curious; to those who want practical armor, would you care if a mage wore something more revealing? maybe even a rogue? or are you opposed to that too? (i really am just curious)

I prefer equal share for either gender on armor. I love what DAI has already, as long as the outfits/clothing styles are shared between gender as well, I wouldnt care. A loincloth should be available to both genders not just one. ;) Leia slave outfit on men as well. This allows options for everyone's choices. However, that said, it needs to be designed as how DA is already styled.

As mentioned something similar, earlier, it would be world breaking to me if someone had the look of a cartoon Mickey Mouse in Inquisition. Actual WoW orc in inquisition would be unsettling. An orc from the new LoTR Shadows of Mordor wouldnt be that unsettling, just very strange.

Torment has Annah, as already mentioned, plus Fall from Grace was pretty attractive. If I'm not mistaken Trias was literally half-naked the entire time, I named my rogue in WoW after that guy...

I'll just say that my inner child craves someone who is slaying dragons and being a bad mother while also looking extremely good while doing it. The completely serious type that is also at ease with sex and whatever else.

I'll just say that my rogues looked hot and badass while still being covered by armour. They didn't need to be showing off their ****** and ass.

I know that you don't care if things make sense in a computer game. You know that other people do care. Neither side is going to talk the other into either caring or not caring, but don't try to make it sound as though there is no difference whatsoever between wearing a certain set of clothing to a party or wearing a certain set of armour to a battle. It's a difference that you are happy to ignore in a game, but it is still a difference.

Whoa there, I didn't say I don't care about things making sense in a computer game. I just care about the end result, is it fun for the player? If that means making sense, then it should make sense, if that means giving up some things, then that means giving up some things.

About the WRPG vs JPRG, If that's what it comes down to than perhaps ME3 is the last BW game I'll ever play, and perhaps the last WRPG. My attraction to Tolkein/GoT/CRPGs etc is rooted in the fact that they clam the H down from time to time. Most western games are just violent period, your always blowing up stuff left and right, hacking and killing. Tokein was nice because there are the inns, the travelers, hobbits, silly jokes, tea, and yes in GoT SEX, relationships, all those kinds of things. I realize asking for that to be blended with your flaming hot JRPG character is a bit much, but personally I think that would be pretty great.

And there's magical statements like this, you actually play hentai games?

It's so annoying how people trip over themselves to resist any kind of universal classification. Oh I can't stand sexy outfits in the serious setting game, and I guess you can't stand clothing in a hentai game. Jeez, what about, I don't know, combining the two? An attractive character/outfit in a serious game. OH NO NO PLEASE NO SPARE ME. Everything is just SO consistent there.

I think this bias is rooted in the notion that completely serious people can't also be very sexual, sort of like Isabella and Aveline. You have one super serious incompetent type and one super outgoing tramp.

Curious, do you even learn what others say to you, or do you just ignore their words completely?

I usually am! (In a good mood, that is.)

People are allowed to think other things look good than I do on the internet. It'd be a funny old world if we were all the same, ect, ect. It's all right if someone else thinks that a fancy gold inlay and cloth number looks better for dragon-slaying than my personal favorite chainmail and felted wool with some boiled leather. As long as I'm allowed to prefer my utilitarian monster fighting gear, s'all good.

Then why do people still believe that DA is "realistic"? Why do people still claim that sexy armor has no place in DA because it would be "unrealistic", while implicitly admitting that DA's depiction of romance and relationships is "unrealistic"? Why are relationships allowed to be "unrealistic" but armor isn't? And that isn't a variant of "but dragons, lol", as you put it. Romances between characters, at least characters who are supposed to be human or humanized to us, are independent of the setting they inhabit.

Like I said a few pages back, the reason I'm so hung up on words like "realistic" is that I think the most important thing about a game is that it be fun to play. I also think that realism is antithetical to fun and I've never played a game where an increased focus on "realism" made a game more fun for me. That's why it really irritates me that people are apparently being selective over where DA can be "realistic". Not only do I not like realism in games, the people who are advocating it seem to be hypocrites about it.

Think, immersion breaking. I described this in a previous post. "Realism" meh, whatever, as long as it fits the style of the game. Batman would be so wrong in DA. This is my words. Sexy armor as long as it is shared between genders wouldnt bother me. As I said previously, loincloth for both male and female. :)

Maybe we need to replace the world realistic with plausible?

No... it's really not.. lol. I'm not really putting a ton of effort into this exactly.

As to the Cryptid one that is definitely a lot better, however just from that game there were a few that I thought were pretty cool.

448a78029c46b7f662d5bd9dc05c1c92.jpg

That is sexualized to me. Is the males at least dressed the same? If not, then yuck. I find her sexually attractive, her showing of more skin takes away from me concentrating on who she is as a person. Its sexy and sexualized....this pic was the definition of what I wrote in a previous post. Actual dictionary word, this is its example you just posted.
It can be a choice but it has to be the same material as what DA uses. The textures is what I mean or same DA art worked, then fine. I wouldnt use it and would wish the males to have similar fashion as well. Not just females.

Which I am getting from you, you want half naked women and covered male games?

Won't someone think of the dragonlings!

I'm more interested in how many RPGs are out there where you don't hack and slash somebody/thing etc.

It looks more like ceremonial armor.

I'll also point out that it (and the other armors in the clips I have seen) look like plastic...

Exactly. Why am I dressing cute or sexy to go into the deeproads to kill spiders and darkspawn?

I like my wardrobe to reflect my actions, whether that's in game or offline.

Yep, going cave diving in a bikini always works right? ;) Going into the deep woods in just a bikini makes sense. Horseback riding in a large field with a bikini also is logical. I find it bonerific thought only not practical.

I agree with you. Bikini on a beach, shorts or pants hiking, riding and pants cave diving. It can get cold going further into a cave or warmer so better being ready for either. :)

Cause your inner-most child wants to! Guh... what am I even saying... if you guys just really REAALLLLY want to have no fun or frills or anything in your world I'm sure you can have it.

I don't think that's a good plan long term, if people aren't getting the exciting/fun things in life in their video games where are they going to get it exactly? It's flawed and yes puritanical to my mind and a dozen other things but clearly I am in the minority in this respect. How an interest in sex and attractive outfits ever became a minority position is beyond me.

Case in point.....

Many of the guys, if not all, I work with keep looking at women here. I do to. I smiled at one twice and got in return. These ladies, none, absolutely none of them are trying to attract anyone. They wear minimal makeup or none, jeans that fit comfortably as well as warm. But are found sexy anyways, they dont need certain clothing to look sexy.

My thoughts are getting sidetracked too much to continue. :P
