I think we'll have to agree to disagree then.
I think armor still needs to make a bit of sense in-universe, and that includes keeping all the vital bits covered by armor. Fighting dragons may require some suspension of disbelief, but it makes sense in-universe because its been established as part of the lore that people can kill dragons. It hasn't been established that naked flesh can repel arrows and sword strikes. And even if armor doesn't protect against dragons, it does protect against mundane warriors...who are much more likely to be commonly encountered foes than dragons.
I agree that armour needs to make sense, and I'm not a fan of random uncovered skin in what should be heavy or medium armour. Even so-called "light" armour shouldn't leave skin exposed unless the period we're simulating is antiquity rather than medieval.
I'm just saying that you don't need to rationalize armour stopping magic, when most likely the non-abstracted lore answer is that the person is actually dodging.
