Would you like to see centaurs, minotaurs, fauns and other mythical species introduced in Dragon Age?

I was thinking of how awesome it is how we can select what race we want to play as in Inquisition. Humans, elves, dwarves and qunari. That is really something!

But then I started thinking of what we can expect next in the series. I would like to see new races introduced in the Dragon Age universe. Maybe intelligent creatures who live far away from Thedas. What would they be?

Centaurs have always been my personal favourite from literature and mythology. I think they would be really cool and fresh to play as during combat, and it would be interesting to see how Bioware would tackle their history and philosophy to make them stand out from other works.

What new races to you want to see in upcoming Dragon Age games? What races would even work?

Outside of werewolves (made from magic) there is no basis for a bestial race. The fex are really the only "new" race we might see.

It has minotaurs, they are called Qunari.

None, the races and species DA has now is more than sufficient. There is no need to clutter up the world with 101 supernatural oddities dragged from the tales of a dozen cultures just to fulfil some fantasy tropes.

Centaurs are mine favorite too.

Sadly they don't appear much in video games. :crying:

I would love to see them in-game but I don't see it happening because DA world is pretty much set in stone by now concerning races.

Do not want.  I think the absence of common fantasy creatures like the ones listed gives DA it's own flavor.  I prefer the franchise's original creations like the Darkspawn and the various Fade creatures.

I like centaurs too, but I don't think they'd work in the Dragon Age universe. Not to mention the incredible amount of work that would have to be put into them to just get them animated properly, including the increased work that would come with a combat centaur.

Wasn't there a picture in the Bioware studio showing other DA creatures we haven't seen yet?

That was a picture from late 2012.

i'd like to see more mythological creatures in dragonage, but i think they got a good balance in dragonage as is, they got to be very careful with adding to their current lore.

Let's have centaurs, and let's invite them to a big wedding.

No they need to keep the world unique. Introduce too many generic fantasy creatures from other settings, it loses uniqueness.

Better off adding their own unique creatures.

Hum....As much as I love mythology creatures like the Minautore and the Medusa and Harpies . I don't think they would fit in DA world . They just....belong in their own setting .

Just like if you drag a Darkspawn into a D&D with the whole Taint system..it be super weird . No cleric or Mage could work around the Taint due that it doesn't exist at all for them .

There is a MMO online called Shaiya , where they brough many different monster from different games like the Beholder of D&D and gave them a new names and just spammed them all around . Let just say , me who loved and looked in awe at those thing..I felt that was a cheap lame crappy imitation I could have gone without .

Maybe if they reveal more of the world of DA , we will find new creatures..but I rather they be authentic ones that belong there and not some imitation .

One problem I have with Dragon Age monsters, is that most of them are just demons possessing the entity. I'd like to see something different. Different races of monsters. The enemies of Thedas showed some promise but I have the feeling that most of them will be related to the fade.

The only thing that comes to mind that doesn't get it's function via possession is the Varterall.

Of course I understand that probably possession is the direction the game wants to go and that's obvious. This and big spiders :P

I would say no to classical mythological monsters, but yes to more original creatures like the Children, the Varterral, and the Qunari.

No. DA should have its own monsters that are consistent with the lore.

For example, if we have vampires, it would be a corpse or an abomination possessed by a Hunger Demon.

Centaurs, Minotaurs, Satyr, etc are sadly almost never available as a "race" in any rpgs, which is a shame imo because I love them and find them more appealing then Elves/dwarves and the cliche rpg fantasy races we usually get.

At most any Greek/Roman mythological creatures are almost always treated as mindless enemies.

To me knowledge the only game that allowed you to play as a centaur was Shadowbane, if anyone remember that mmorpg, it had quite a few actually out there player races, centaur, minotaur, Aracoix (bird looking race that flew), vampires, and other things.
