Better to be a Circle mage or Warden mage?

So if you were a mage would you prefer to be in the circle (no sex or kids allowed, living in the same place for the rest of your life, restricted freedom and (possibly) abusive templars) or as a warden where you have more freedoms but have the certainty of dying within 20-30 years (if not sooner) and having to fight darkspawn for the rest of your life.

Personally I would rather be a warden. More freedom, even at the cost of a longer life, is one I would be willing to pay. Also it would be good to know that I am providing a service to thedas whether I am thanked or not.

Edit: Btw I know these are not the only two options when you are a mage (apostate, magister, etc) but out of the two specifically what would you prefer?

Warden, for various reasons. One of which involves something with wings :).

Warden for the reasons you mentioned. Circle mages are little better than prisoners.

It is better to be apostate at least when you are smart and strong then you can have what wardens have without negative consequences if you don't mind someone controling your life then circle as it have best conditions in thedas .

Both have issues id be a warden mage since id have autonmony abd easier acess to the more esoteric spells and id be apart of something greater than myself

Warden. No doubt. Avoid all the restrictions of the circle.

I'd probably be a Warden mage. I'd hate to be cooped up in one place forever (The Circles)

That said, I really wouldn't want to fight darkspawn, but I'd still go with being a Warden.

Both are terrible options, but I would have to go with the Wardens.  If they got rid of the "no sex" rule, then Circle for sure.

How about living as a Circle Mage in... Tevinter!

You can do whatever you want and if you are lucky you'll be an apprentice to a Magister and if you play your cards right you can whoop your Magister master and possibly become one of the Elite in Tevinter!

The Templars there are just mere puppets, the mundanes consider your magic to be a mark of honor.

I say that being a Tevinter circle mage beats being a southern circle mage.

I think the OP gave us two horrible options on purpose... obviously Tevinter Circle beats pretty much any other option, even apostate in some cases.  :P

Being a grey warden is a death sentence and live a harsh life of constant war. Being a Circle mage is better. It's not like they actually never have sex.

There might be a good reason Fiona dropped the whole Grey Warden thing and went back to the Circle.

Well if we're getting specific:

1. Tevinter Mage

2. Warden

3. Apostate

*gap*

4. Southern Circle Mage

Warden and Apostate I have a difficult time with listing.

You can find people who don't have sex everywhere. If there are mages that have had sex, then mages have sex.

Lifelong internment at the hands of representatives of an ideology I despise? No thanks. I'll be a Warden mage and hope I won't need to fight during a Blight, so I'll have enough time between fighting smaller darkspawn incursions to make some use of my freedom. Children have never been that important to me so that's not much of a sacrifice, even if I don't consider they might turn out mageborn and be taken away to a Circle.

Circle mage probaply, depending on circle though. I dislike Wardens and battling darkspawn doesn't sound good to me either. As circle mage I could read a lot and do research at least. Depending on circle I could have some freedoms and not get abused. And circle mages appear to have sex all the time, rule or not. There is Anders and Karl, Wynne and random templar, Adrian and Rhys, Duncan and random circle mage..

In fact, he is. There may not be a "no sex" rule, but the constant surveillance doesn't make for an atmosphere conducive to romance. IIRC he says something to that effect.

Out of the two I'd go Warden Mage. Plenty of opportunities to cut loose unlike the Circle. Less Chantry scrutiny as well depending on which chapter. And lastly, it's for a cause. Rather be praised than reviled.

Circle Mage- free food, shelter, books to study...whereas as a Warden you're traveling through the Deep Roads having to fight darkspawn. Only real crappy part of being a Circle Mage I see is The Harrowing, but the Joining ends up having a similar effect.

I agreed with the original list where 2 and 3 were flipped.  I'd rather be an apostate than a Grey Warden... at least an early death isn't guaranteed and you have a whole lot more freedom as an apostate...

I see now we can't pick apostate so i will go with circle mage as being warden means no freedom as well in much worse conditions as circle mage i don't have to do anything and i have great conditions for rest of my life.

When Isabela won't even touch you, there's a problem. The fact is, he's a loser. And balding at 28-. Where as everyone else makes the Circle sound like Orgy City.
