The "sort of" part of his quote falls in line with what I expect the Warden's part in DAI will be. Passing references etc.

This quote is really frustrating because I don't know if the 'sort of' is basically what was the case in DA2 (people mentioning the Warden, etc) or if he means something different. Agh!

We aren't bringing back the Warden in DAI... sort of.
What could this mean?
The Warden isn't coming back in the flesh but will be mentioned.
The Warden will be cured of the taint thus no longer a Warden and will be there in the flesh.
The Warden will have left the Wardens thus no longer a Warden and will be there in the flesh.
The Warden will be possessed by an entity of some sort thus no longer the Warden we know and will be there in the flesh.
The Warden will not be in the main game but in a DLC.
I can't think of more ways to twist those words. All that remains is to wait.

That's what I figure. They'll probably drop some hints about what your Warden or Orlesian Warden is up to, other characters will mention them, so on and so forth. My canon's dead, and I really hope the Orlesian Warden gets mentioned, on account of me quite liking her. Our Wardens have been wandering around without us for quite some time... I'm also glad I'll see some more Hawke, 'cause unlike my Wardens, Hawke ended on a massive cliffhanger.
But yeah. I don't really think it's anything massively traumatic. I think it's more likely that Warden will be Ser-Off-Screen.

Morrigan will talk about how much she loved my Warden and regrets ever trying to leave him. She was foolish and they should've been a family with OGB from the start.
....well, that's how it should be.

I'm an addict to Schadenfreude.... I would love to see the forum reaction if the Warden is nothing but a babbling Ghoul.
Babbling ghoul is a lot more interesting to me than any "and they lived happily ever after" ending for the Warden.

We sort of don't want to mess with your heads.
We also sort of enjoy messing with your heads.
We sort of, maybe, possibly, are gonna reference someting you may possibly want to see (or not).
We are definitely sort of evil bastards.

(not much though)
I mean if they can take the time to write Hawke back into the story, the Warden still has a chance :3

Eh ultimately in the end I want that. Call me boring or immature but I'm a sucker for happy ends. But that doesn't mean I don't indulge in bitter ends for the sake of the reaction.

I think that they meant that it will be the Warden but they will not be able to put your created face on him/her. They most likely will know from the keep history that it will be human, elf, or dwarf.
This is what I've gleaned from listening to different sources.

Probably a random corpse in game. So much props to BioWare if it is.
I somehow expect the warden to be a minion / Host for the elder one.

They are not gonna tells us straight out, we are just gonna have to wait till the game comes out though its funny how on the DA wiki on The Warden's page under appearances Dragon Age: Inquisition is listed, I don't think just anyone can change things on DA wiki I think only members can and its been listed there for a LONG time

Maybe our Warden (assuming he/she survived Origins) is the Duncan of Dragon Age: Inquisition?
