im dying how poor hawke is attacked because peoples are enraged because hawke is in and warden not.

I guess he is poor since he wasn't able to bring his money with him.

And the circle completes itself back to step 1 in DAII.

Quick! we need a fan art of Hawke's reaction to this, and we also need a fan art of the Warden's reaction to his/her absent in DA:I.

Seriously though, I wish the Warden could have physical appearance in DA:I.

That would be a blank face.

That's one thing I'd like about the Warden more than Hawke though, that blank spot allow you to projectile yourself (or part of it) into the character and make him/her a unique character. It also easier to role-play and people feel like they have real connection with their character. While Hawke has to stick with three sets of personality.

ones who want their wardens showin up and those who dont. I admit in my rage im oversimplifiying things but atm this how i see things. If your warden died cool no show bioware place holder added. If they did survive and did the WH dlc i feel that we are allowed so closure since WH let more questions than answers and little closure, that is now being treated as "hey thanks for your money now go back the pit whence you came from" again im not thinking clearly due to rage. Normally im calm and understanding

WH wasn't about warden it was about morrigan if you character was in relationship then pursuit after morrigan arc for the warden was done and his on-screen story done.As long the warden is alive he always will be up to something doing stuff you pick them to do and if they don't appear how do you know they aren't doing that.

Funny thing, that's actually a large part of why I prefer Hawke. He isn't a blank slate. Different strokes I guess.

i admit i dont but this news has me and my fellows on the defensive. Like i said our rage is valid but it is the writers choice to kick tge fans in the shin

It would be something like at least for sarcastic hawke

I like both approaches myself.  Just depends on the game.

Since BioWare wants Hawke to be their poster boy for their game, and they can be quite biased when it comes to favorite character. I'm afraid the Warden will get shafted on this one. I don't have anything against Hawke, but you know...because BioWare wants to put Hawke on the pedestal and kick the Warden down instead of treating both previous protagonists equally. I'm tempted to murder knife Hawke if given a chance, I may do that with a Varric's presence in the party just to spite BioWare's favorism.

No. Hawke is the one that has gotten Shafted in this series. The Warden got a great game in DAO; got to explore and have impactful choices within that game. Then! the Warden got a friggin Expansion in DAA.

Meanwhile, Hawke got trapped in Kirkwall, had no power to change anything. Was shown up by Anders in the end. Had an aborted Act 3; a giant cliffhanger at the end with some kinda dev expectation of finishing the story with the expansion ...that got canceled. Prolly because of you guys.

Now--whoopie--Hawke gets to be a friggin NPC! NPC. Great. Hawke gets to play second fiddle..again! And yet you all are sitting up here talking abt favoritism? The Warden being shafted when they've been treated like nothing less than the most special snowflake?

I call bullshyte on this whole conversation.

I would be happy with Bioware having one final cinematic at Skyhold where all your forces and allies have gathered before the final battle. You see all the factions represented and your Inquisitor is giving a speech and laying out the battle plans.

The Warden is standing at the table, arms crossed and listening carefully at taking in all the details in the battle map. Beside the Warden is their LI, Morrigan, maybe a few o the other companions from DA:O DA:A like Oghren, Sigrun, Nathaniel... The ones who eventually became Wardens, as well as a handful other Wardens.

The Inquisitor finishes his speech with something like "And the Wardens will lead the Vanguard. Warden Commander, are you and yours up to the task?"

Everyone turns, a hush falling over those gathered to hear what the legendary Warden Cimmander, the Hero of Ferelden, slayer if the Archedemon will say. The Warden looks at them all, then focused on the Inquisitor, smirks, then leaves to prepare his forces.

Leliana just chuckles and says something to the effect of, "He/she was never one for small talk."

To be fair, if there were more guys that bought DAII, there probably would have been an expansion......and proof that Bioware could continue making more DA's in the same time frame as DAII.

Im truly calm now rage has subsided.

Rational post: the dev comment claim we will hear them which translates we will hear of them to x extent i respect BW's choice for a more econmic approach i will contue to go to the midnight release and play day1 and judge after playing. But if this flops BW may lose all standing in the fanbase and churn out AAA games that will slowly fall in qaulity in order to gain new fans that just jump in

Honestly, I would have preferred that BW never brought up the whole disappeared thing at the end of DA2. Just hear abt Hawke and the Warden maybe thru sum bard songs within the DAI, some codex, or the finding of lost scrolls, that sorta thing.

But they did, so I, too, think this disappearance thing should be answered within DAI. I'm not too keen though on seeing one of my protagonists as an NPC. Don't like that idea at all.

****** perfect

Come on, there are so many possibilites for puns and jokes about the Warden never speaking!

You know I have this gut feeling that DAI will be looked as a failure and I dont know why but everything just seems to be rubbing fans the wrong way from the Romance options to now this business with the Warden I am afraid that even if DAI is good game Biowares past mistakes "DA2 & ME3" will be DAIs downfall.

I hope I am wrong but this Warden situation isnt helping their cause I am just saying. <_<

The companions look quite the gimmicks, but I don't consider romance options as a priority. The only think I don't like is Iron Bull pansexual while he should be restricted to kossith characters. Unless his "love" is not physical.

Anyway, Hawke needed more disclosure. The warden had one story left to tell, and that's his calling. Perhaps the writers thought it would have been better not to witness his death, and I agree. I can't immagine the shitstorm with people screaming "why my inquisitor didn't save him, or force blackwall to take his place or or or!"

Now that I think about it, maybe the warden was sent after Corypheus, and when he killed it... We aren't going to meet him, but we are going to face Corypheus in the warden's body. That would be cool.

Corypheus taking over the Warden Commander?...I don't think that is going to happen, and I hope that I'm right because the tubes of the Internet might get blocked up from all the nerd rage if that happened. Then how are people supposed to get their daily kitty photo intake?

I would be kind of upset to be forced to kill my own character, but at the same time... variable bossfight? Build your own boss across an entire game? Freaking awesome. I've even suggested that this could be an interesting optional bossfight, though it should be strictly optional because I can stomach my Warden coming to a sad end if I chose it.

Ok. I've vented enough. I'm still disappointed at their decision. But it's their game and their story and they're doing what they think is best. Still a little heated over the ambiguity and the unnecessary hype machine created after the Enemy of Thedas trailer, but these things happen. I'm begrudgingly back to optimism. Hopefully whatever they decide to do with the Warden is rewarding and fulfilling. Hawke is still Hawke and I don't have to like it, but Inquisition looks great and it seems like it's the true successor to Origin's legacy.

Hawke's there because the storyline is his/her fault. I doubt most of this would be possible without the Veil being absolutely wrecked at this point.

So the Warden isn't in DA:I hmmm, I'm not happy about it.

Still maybe the Warden will show up in DA:I DLC if we are lucky or hopefully get some closure of some kind (And it better not be a death closure).
