angry? why? on what? on the game? really?

maybe you should be angry on yourself instead? people tend to blame something or someone but not themselfs when they face some failures or difficulties.

have faith however, this game is being made on the west, with EA as publisher. you can't expect anything which can be considered as a challenge or difficulty.

Is that really necessary to say? I enjoy a lower difficulty because I enjoy less of a challenge. It's more fun for me. No need to be hostile dude.

i am not hostile. i am just telling the truth about human behavior and game development history of the last 5-8+ years.

just keep in mind, that nobody actually cares about how you play your games. i don't care at all for example.

however your topic looks like... excuse of some sort. which is strange and funny.

ME2 -> Hardcore / DAO -> Normal

And I care. Those who play on higher difficulties are praiseworthy. Investing so much effort and mental power on a video game and actually get the proper result.

I feel the same. I couldn't do it, too difficult for me.

Depends. Most of the time I set a game's difficulty low so that I can breeze through combat and get back to the story. There are a few times, though, that I'll up the difficulty if I feel like I need a challenge.

As ungamer-like as it sounds, I usually prefer story, exploration and npc interaction over combat. The only time this wasn't true was in Dishonoured. I think that was the only game I've played where I actively sought out folk to mess with. Still, from what I've seen of DAI's combat, it might give Dishonoured a run for its money. We shall see.

I prefer to play on normal in the beginning then play it on hard towards the middle of the game after I've gotten a rhythm with the combat. On second playthroughs I play on hard and nightmare to give myself more of a challenge. I only play on easy when I hate the combat.

This. I love the combat in Dishonored.

I usually start out at average/medium/normal play throughs first time, then harder after, then an easy one to finish a play through I want to end playing faster (normally the "evil").

Depends on how much I like the combat. If its fun, I'll do normal first and possibly harder later. If I don't find it fun, easy all the way baby.

It's also possible I'll get so sucked into the story I'll switch the difficulty down on my first playthrough. I guess I don't think about it too much...just go in and adjust as needed!

I like a challenge, but I don't want it to get get to the point where I get incredibly frustrated and am continually dying...that isn't fun lol.  I like having to put some thought and effort into a fight at certain times, but I don't want that to be for each and every bad guy I encounter.  I don't always want to be slowed down and want to go where i need to, but for bosses and the like a challenge is fun as long as it isn't eve the top.

I am probally going to turn the difficulty to hard. Now, if DAOs hard is DAIs normal, I may turn it up to nightmare.

Thia is going to be so much fun.

What I tend to do is do my first playthrough on Normal or even casual so I can concentrate on the story and exploration....get to know the game.

Then with subsequent playthroughs I will up the difficulty.

(Currently playing DA2 on Nightmare and it's kicking my butt - and I love it!)

I like having both options, as me being good at the combat has a lot to do with how much I feel in control of it. For example, I like Dark Souls being hard because your character's movements and attacks are completely up to you. You don't have to rely on clunky movement or a shield that only gives you passive defense bonuses instead of gving you the ability to block (can you tell I don't like that when it happens in games with shields?). I play DAO on hard now, but I started on easy and wanted to finish combat as quickly as possible so I could get on with the story when I first started playing it. And it's normal that I'm used to the combat after 10+ playthroughs :P.

I think I'll probably play DAI on easy difficulty at first so I can get on with the story on the first playthrough quicker, but I will go on normal if I see that it's too easy since killing enemies in one hit is not appealing to me (unless it's with headshots, and it doesn't look like you can manually aim bows/staves). I did the same for ME3. Once they introduced the combat roll and your Shepard stopped moving like a sloth I felt more in control and upped the difficulty.

I prefer challenging game-play (expecially in tactic squad based games) along with awesome story so I usually turn the difficulty on nightmare or whatever word it has for hardest setting.

I like to feel like the enemy can put up a fight, but I still want to be able to win.

I played my first PTs of DAO and DA2 on Casual and still died a million times. Granted, I took the companions I liked, rather than the ones I needed. All of my companions died in dragon fights. I had to hide behind a rock to fight Flemeth, and I beat the Archdemon by trapping it with AOE spells and firing the ballista repeatedly.

My second PT of DAO is going much better. I'm playing a bit more tactically too.

I never touch the difficulty on my first playthrough and I mainly focus on the story.

Then, if I liked the game, I raise it to hard or more and and I try to finish it.

In Dragon age or Mass effect case, I do this with every class to try every strategy

For me a great game must have a good story and a good gameplay (including game mechanics)

Nevertheless, a game with a good story but a boring gameplay will always be better for me than a game with a good gameplay but with a boring (or stupid) story. The challenge for the challenge only is not good if it's not fun.

I like having both options. I usually start with easy and focus on story. When I get more used in the game and fights are getting boring I switch to harder difficulty.

Almost always normal, as I want to be entertained but also challenged from time to time. Only a few games do I play on harder settings, and that is almost always when I find them enjoyable enough to push myself and play through them multiple times. Some games I do play harder when I find them far too easy on default due to mechanics.

ON the first play through either "default" (unless that would be the lowest) or "default +1" mainly for story (I do like a good book) and getting a hang of the combat system. Subsequent play throughs usually "highest -1"

Something that challenges me.

Those who want to breeze through games can go and watch an interactive movie or play a simplified version of the game on a tablet or a smartphone.

Usually my first couple of playthroughs are on the lowest difficulty to enjoy the story and the character interactions. After that, I will raise the difficulty level to make it more challenging for the combat.

this is usually how i play also.

I prefer a challenge, but lately this does not come from the actual Difficulty Slider. Nerfing the PC and buffing the NPC's is not true difficulty; improved AI, Friendly Fire, use of abilities, terrain, tactics, and the like are what make combat challenging. And having FF as a separate setting is a great aid for me, so am looking forward to that.

That said, it can take me a bit to become accustomed to gameplay, so the initial campaign is done on Normal settings w/o FF. Based on past games, then I can increase the Slider as desired, and add FF once spell and ability AoE are known.

I play hard mode until my party gets taken down once. I retry the fight at same difficulty. If they still cant get it, I crank down to normal for that encounter then reset back to hard after mop-up. Rarely do I play antire game set at one diff. setting, only for achievements do I do that.
