What about the feelings of inferiority that occur when she continuously kicks your ass?

Hasn't happened yet. I'm pretty sure it will suck to be me, but I'll endure.

That's what you are trying to avoid. It has a corrupting effect. Only if she is already good at them then it's ok. This would actually have a lot of comedic value, her pwning my friends in multiplayer games. Times may have changed for girls and gaming, but this still persists and for a good reason.

There are better hobbies for spending time together. Music is far superior. Teaching her how to sing. This always turns out well. ^^

I would actually say it depends on the person =P

Wouldn't having gaming as a shared hobby be better than having no shared hobby at all?

For a second after I read this, I thought your avatar was Sigmund Freud.

I simply thought and think he is a guy from 19th century. No resemblance to Sigmund Freud at all!

I'll rephrase his question to be a bit more fitting.

Are you afraid of your girlfriend beating you in a video game?

Depends, is she good? Then no. Is she bad? Then yes. Loosing to noobs and button mashers takes me to dark places no matter the gender! But it's always more funny when the unassuming girl beats the gamer guy :P

Yes, well if she's bad at the game and she happens to be your girlfriend then bad things happen to the relationship.

I've watched numerous relationships of my friends go down that little wormhole.

Don't see why it matters. :P I am sure are plenty of girls who can kick any guys' ass in video games, on this site especially. If you can't handle it, there's something very wrong with you.

It's an ego thing that males tend to have based on how society says male children should be raised.

The whole competitive nature as well as the "being superior to females" BS.

I'll never understand the appeal of it.

I am really competitive myself, but I don't think I am superior to females though. Anyone who was raised right shouldn't feel that way. I've simply been surprised when a girl hands it to me. It doesn't happen too often, I've been playing way too much and for way too long. :P

Indeed. In my experience it reaches a point of disconnection. One just pursues his hobby, the other will probably try to reconnect and push to the point that it becomes frustrating for both. None of them understands what the other's problem is ^^

It's the reason I don't like sharing my hobbies with people that are not qualified, either because they lack in interest or commitment. This is true for any kind of relationship. I don't consider the interest common unless it's proven. Which makes look like a snob. But I like it that way. :P

I've certainly experienced a LOT of guys/teenagers who got very upset every time I beat them at Bioshock online and they always called me nasty stuff like wh0re and b!tch and such and then they screamed with their skinny voices that I was going down LOL, of course that never happened....

Hi there! Sorry if I'm intruding - I'm new here, although I've been browsing these forums for a couple of weeks now. I started Mass Effect and Dragon Age recently and I can't stop playing them!
I couldn't help but notice - I'm pretty sure we know each other, OneWomanArmy! If you are the person that I think you are, then your sister could indeed be a top model, she loves dogs, and you forgot to wish her a happy birthday last Sunday.

Ehm.... Think you have the wrong person here lol.
