@PhroXenGold: And do you think this is the best way to communicate with the marketing department if that is the true aim of this thread?
Can Bioware please be more careful with their promotional material? These mistakes need to stop.

Thing is, the only people that actually seem to be getting upset are those who are unhappy that that the issue has even been raised. Those criticising the image have simply pointed out there's a problem with the marketing dept.'s QC and suggested they improve things next time.
I don't think OP is being as calm and rational as you're suggesting. His use of words suggests an attack, but I can accept that I've been misunderstanding the tone. That tends to happen over the internet.

Wow, there really is nothing the BSN won't nitpick about... We really need this game to get released, the stuff that generates threads reminds me of the name of one of the Blackstone Irregulars quests: Scraping the barrel.

Hey, drones and ones that don't care less about promo art, let me quote something for you:
ART WHICH IS OF VALUE, STANDS UP TO SCRUTINY AND INTERPRETATION!
Guess who made that claim? Oh -noes, it was Bioware during EGX presentation... which is like do not follow your own advice. One could argue these errors are minor and nothing that would break world apart but still, they lessen the value of given art. And if you advocate and claim you don't care or it doesn't matter, you tell the art HAS NO VALUE. In other words DAI promo art is pointless and a complete waste of time and resources.
Current butthurt level: Critical.

Also I find it amusing how much a point is being proven here. There is some serious lack of sense of humor and light-heartiness, those who said Pre-order cancelled were quite clearly being ironic... and I thought I was overly-serious lol.

Should I behave like an Elcor and describe my emotion before I make a post? I'm not here to attack Bioware and hurt people who are passionate about their work. That's not my MO. But everything and everyone, including the things we love, should not be immune to criticism. I as well as other people on this thread, do feel that Bioware should take more care into how they present their work in progress. I cannot recall a game in recent memory that had these many glitches and goofs in their promotional material, as much as DA:I has. I love Dragon Age, which is why it bums me out to see so many of these mistakes being made.
So I decided to address it. As long as someone over at Bioware takes note of it, I'm happy. Because I know they're better than all these goofs being made.

@Crescent_Moon: But the OP is suggesting the problem is not minor, and I am curious as to why. The OP states that others are trying to make his commentary seem trivial which suggests he believes it is not trivial.
Yes, they are errors.
On their own these mistakes are pretty darn trivial. But they've been adding up, which is why I wanted to point them out.

There is a third problem as well. The arrow is on the outer side(left) of the bow, it should be on the right
Are you sure about that ?

I'm not sure if it was important enough to warrant a thread, but I agree that Sera's image is incredibly sloppy... the bowstring looks ridiculous, and there is no way that this wasn't a mistake. The guard on her arm is only covering the inside of her forearm, so if she shoots an arrow like this she is likely to lose a layer of skin. It's not a huge problem for me, but it does look pretty bad.

Is this really a thing? Like, a serious thread?
People actually care enough to nitpick this stuff?
Actually, maybe all those details are intentional, and we'll discover in-game that Sera is just not smart enough to know how a bow works.

Are people here still bent on criticizing something that is clearly not wrong? That's the way Sera handles her bow, deal with it.

Except Sera was using the bow correctly in game footage. So no, that character picture of her is not actually how she handles her bow. The artist goofed.

Why don't you "deal with" the fact that handling a bow like that is more dangerous than fighting demons?

"I don't really mind the mistakes, therefore I think this artwork is a waste of time."

Reading comperchension is lacking here I think.

Oh, I'll give you the string, that's a mistake, plain and simple. But hey, it happens, and will likely be fixed before the image goes elsewhere. The arrow is correct, it is intended to rest opposite the drawing arm. The spiky guard, quiver placement, or any other inaccuracies that might make archery slightly difficult for an elf fall under trailer-poster rule of cool. Not exactly the traditional home of historical accuracy. ![]()

@TK514: That would be absolutely hilarious.
"Sera, you... umm.. don't hold the bow that way."
"What? Really? Oh, well them how do you hold it you dumb shem!?"
"Like..." "This."
"Wow, that really feels like I can use this thing now. I always thought the Dalish were just oddly jointed."
"Right..."
Type type type: "Bioware, sorry for being wrong about the accurate depiction of Sera in her portrait."

Putting the string on the other side would not change what I wrote from the beginning, she's handling the bow horizontally. I could care less about the bowstring, because many seem to think you can't handle a bow like that at all, you can. I have, you can shoot just fine. Just like you can hold a gun like a "gangsta" and get away with it..

No, your argument makes no sense. I understood what you wrote. I'm saying I don't mind mistakes because it's a little piece of artwork that has no bearing on how the game will function. That doesn't translate to thinking this art has no value. Your argument is invalid, try again.

Whoever was responsible for the art on all party members did a great job overall. My favorite is definitely Cassandra's. But that Sera image felt like the fly in the ointment. You guys are in crunch time right now, so I understand you're working day in and day out on getting the game ready for release, so I wouldn't actually expect for anyone to go back and fix that image of Sera. It'd be pretty awesome, but it's understandable.
