I've been playing DAO on the Xbox 360 and noticed that my character story data wasn't uploading properly, so earlier today I deleted all my character data from the BSN website, including the files under the profile diagnostics, with the intention of going in game and re-saving the character so everything can be uploaded fresh.

 

So now i have two character files -- one from the original game and the other from when I completed Witch Hunt that should include everything I've done to that point. All the story data is blank even though the diagnostics say the XML was uploaded, and the original file is missing the avatar image and BOTH are missing the portrait image.

 

I've been googling the issue and came across a post that said that if you didn't upload your portrait when you first created the character, it will NEVER upload again on the 360. Is this true? My portraits were fine before I deleted the characters from the website but now that I've already completed the game and am long past character creation, does this mean that my portraits can never be fixed for this character?

 

Or is it that the Bioware servers are so extraordinarily slow that the portraits, avatar image, story, etc. will just appear after many more hours? Days?

 

Edit: I created a brand new character and played for a while and it looks like that character uploaded normally, so it's just my original character that is messed up currently.

Why are you concerned with the story though? It's not even accurate

The story not being accurate and /or blank is part of why I thought I needed to reupload everything. (The other reason is that the information for one character was drastically out of date.) Plus, the story is supposed to be there and is not, so is still part of the problem that I'm experiencing considering that the diagnostics say that the story XML was uploaded and yet it is not there at all for either of my original characters. I created a new character and everything for that character has uploaded without issue. But now for my original characters, not only do I not have even an inaccurate story, but I also don't have portraits for both, or an avatar image for one, so the problem is even worse than it was from the beginning and I am out of solutions.

The story will always be in-accruate (the codex in game is in-accurate)

 

Honestly I wouldnt worry about it if I was you. As long as the character themselves show up, you are all set for the keep

My portraits and avatar images aren't showing up either. Is this Keep thing going to completely replace our character profiles so that they don't look like a bunch of broken links on the Network, or is it just going to create a story for importing into Inquisition while everything else stays broken? My player profile has a very sloppy appearance now with the blank spaces and broken links, and the fact that it's happened to the first character I played makes it worse. Granted this isn't a life-or-death or game-breaking problem, but if it's a feature set up for us to use and enjoy for our characters, then it should work properly.

I think I may have just fixed my issue with my broken character portraits, but will need to see if works across the board and with the avatar image for my other character upload. I had tried changing equipment, saving, and reloading to no avail in attempts to reupload this character data, but this morning, I went in to one of my saves, stripped my character completely naked, and then saved to a *new save* and now it looks like the portrait is there for that character. The avatar image is still showing him as not naked at the moment, but the equipment slots are appropriately empty. Later today I will go back to that save, re-equip the character and then save to another new save and see if that fixes things. The story is still blank, but if the Keep thing is fixing those issues, I won't need to worry about it since the portrait and avatar issues would be fixed. I was concerned by the broken portraits and images since I have read that the Keep will be using those.

You will see the portrait on your hero in the keep when you choose them yes. So as long as that uploads for you, you are all set.

Thank goodness! Well I re-equipped my character and the equipment showed up though the profile picture still shows him as naked. At least there *is* a profile picture now so I'm not going to mess with this character anymore. I deleted the other character that was having issues from my profile since it was just a lower level version of this one and I won't need it for the Keep. I was only keeping it because it had the story on it, but now since they are both blank, there is no point in keeping another version of the same character.

 

Whew! Glad that's all settled and my Bioware profile looks all "pretty" again.
