I don't think it has to do with Hawke's failures, but rather how those failures are presented. Not warning his mother there was a serial killer actively killing women in Kirkwall...

Honestly, with Kirkwall being so full of murderers, bandits and slavers, Quentin doesn't really seem special other than his affinity for necromancy. Leandra could very well have been snagged by slavers at night long before she got scooped up by a crazy mage. How Gamlen survived, despite getting on the bad side of various criminal factions in the city is a total mystery to me.

i'd be more interested in having Hawke join as a secret companion like Loghain did. I'd accept nearly every time simply for the memories.

Blaming Hawke for not warming his mother about a serial killer is really grasping at staws.  It's abundantly clear that Kirkwall was a dangerous place, and Leandra would've been aware of that.  Trying to warn her of Quentin would've been redundant.

You can refuse Hawke, but then both Varric and Cassandra leave the party. How could they accept that kind of attitude toward their champion!

Why do people hate Hawke, again? I'm confused.

I have wondered this SO MANY TIMES.

I just hope that they present his first appearance in-game in a neutral way and not in a "Hawke's killing 5 enemies with ninja-style moves in an extra-uber cool cinematic" and then turns towards the Inquisitor "What's up?".

Mindlessly killing things is the only thing he does well, yes, but this could be the opportunity to show other sides of his character.

Well... I liked my Felicity, but really other than being a pair of walking daggers she was slightly useless.

I inhaled hot tea all the way into my lungs once. Never laugh while drinking stuff.

I once managed to inhale and spray hot coffee out my nose while laughing. Not smart!

Uh....we don't know...

I understand that some people have a lot of questions, but I will never understand why these people expect forums members to know the answers to questions about a game that isn't out yet.

If I had to guess...yeah....you probably have a choice...maybe.

I find many forum members to be much more knowledgeable than I. Not to mention, a lot of them have access to sites/people that I would never know to turn to.

There's no harm in asking questions.

I don't think Cassandra will ever leave the inquisition, Varric though? Absolutely he should leave you if he's not fond of you and you deny his friend Hawke. I also think a deny Hawke option should give you a disadvantage in what appeared to be the start of a nasty boss encounter.

These anti-Hawke threads are quite annoying. ..
I can't wait to see how he/she plays into the story.

Just make a female Hawke.  He's gone.

Hawke is the Champion of Kirkwall and will end the Templar-Mage War. Try to defy him and he may vanquish you as well, Inquisition or not...

I'll be interested to see what my character is expected to know of Hawke.  I mean, Hawke was the Champion of Kirkwall, and thus a famous figure, but (for instance) the Dalish are unlikely to know much of them.  What would the qunari have heard?  Would a Carta dwarf have had better sources of real information? My noble from Ostwick might know more, I suppose.  From Cassandra's interrogation of Varric, Hawke's actions - especially around the Annulment of the Circle there - was surrounded by rumors and tall tales, so even my noblewoman may have heard a very distorted version of the events.

My characters won't be taking action without knowing what's what, either way.

Varric, Cullen, and Lelian all personally met Hawke. They can fill you in fine.

Hawke is great. I enjoyed the character immensely.

Would have loved to have seen a novel series detailing the adventures of Malcolm Hawke, from his escape of the circle, to his dealings with the wardens

My guess is that the Inquisitor won't be able to get Varric to shut up about Hawke. I don't see how there can be any complaint that the Inquisitor doesn't "know" Hawke as long as Varric is recruited.

Cassandra, too, considering she's a fan.

A DLC like Leliana's Song with Malcolm as the protag would have been awesome
