Minimum specs will probably be similar to BF4 but that doesn't mean it won't run below them. I can run BF4 on a 2.1ghz Dual-Core with 2 gb RAM and an entry level 1gb GPU (slightly OC'ed). Low settings and 720p sure, but it runs at a playable and smooth frame rate.

2 GB RAM? What OS? I had trouble on a Vista rig with 3 GB RAM and a better processor. (Experimenting during that Origin free week a couple months ago.) But Vista's a notorious RAM hog.

Anyone still waiting for the exciting PC news? They said NEWS, right, with a plural.

I have heard nothing as of yet.

So many people forget that news is plural.

I applaud you.

It's not a linear scale.

If the game will benefit from a really big GPU, a buyer might choose to downgrade his CPU to free up resources for that GPU. Particularly if the change allows him to alter his cooling system as well.

Or maybe he realises he needs to switch to an AMD CPU to save money, but that requires more cooling, so now he needs a different case, too.

There are lots of variables. You're over-simplifying it.

Unless you want me to write a how-to-optimize-a-PC thread, the overarching planning IS linear. Gaming = GPU focus, workstation = CPU&RAM focus. Someone who builds a workstation PC does so for a reason and someone who builds a gaming PC does the same. I am assuming that a system builder already optimized his performance from the budget he has, so unless he starts growing money on trees, knowing the system requirements will not change anything unless he's planning to build the PC specifically for this game, in which case I already had affirmed that it is vital information and that it's still enough time.

Windows 8.1 (64 bit)

I upgraded from Win7 because of supposed better performance. It did not disappoint. Her is my memory usage when closing my browser (firefox):

memoryusage.jpg

About 10% less than what Win7 used up. Keep in my mind I keep my PC clean - no background stuff going on. Don't even have an AV. This keeps the CPU, HD and memory free for the very few games I play (only got this rig for Deus Ex: HR 3 years ago - will upgrade only for cyberpunk 2077 :D )

Anyway Battlefield 4 took up from 800-1.1gb of ram during the campaign. Very few slowdowns and 25-35 fps. I only got the game to test Frostbite 3 tbh. I hope Bioware did a good job with optimizing DA:I.

Depends on the game.

Not much. Someone who builds a gaming PC goes for the most powerful setup he can get. Assuming people have a strict budget and can't go blowing money around, they go for the biggest GPU they can get paired with a CPU that won't bottleneck it. If people THEN decided to budge on CPU performance to go for an even bigger GPU, they will throttle their new GPU, decreasing overall performance.

Again, I am assuming people are already prioritizing their build.

@ WhiteWolfRevan: Interesting. Thanks. Don't think I'll upgrade the OS before doing a full system replacement; probably just throw another gig in and see what happens.

Vista is a sh*t OS. Though by now you can just aswell wait for the upcoming Windows 10. It's going to be an odd Windows OS, which means it's probably going to be pretty good.

As long as 10 is designed around a desk top and not a tablet like 8 was..... <_<

Tell me about it. I have to dual-boot to XP to get DAO to run adequately.

I'd like to keep my existing until the next gen and the next OS are out and tested. But there is always a risk in that. At 6 years old thing are getting dated and start to stress. My vid card is regularly overheating now. I had only planned on a new GPU this year if I can get by with it. But we are all pretty codependent these days and if worse comes to worse a new PC will need to be purchased.

He said this week, not Monday specifically.

Maybe the specs came in unreasonably high and they're going to push it out at the end of the day tomorrow so that it gets lost in the noise over the weekend. Friday is not typically the day you release the information you're especially proud of.

I sincerely hope not (about the specs being high anyway), though I doubt it too. If the absolute minimum PC specs are too high won't that hurt their sales?

Still Thursday in Canada, not that it's much of an excuse considering we were supposed to get them back in September :(

Friday still no specs?

Its Thursday on the West Coast of NA, where the den of politeness lies.

And to people speculating about high min specs: remember, DAI will run on xbox 360 and ps3. A decade old computer (if it was a really good computer at the time) will out perform those systems. I moderately good computer from 5 years will outperform a 360/3. Any possible computer you could buy today that has any kind of gaming support what-so-ever will outperform the 360 and ps3.

Don't stress the min specs.

I wanna know the ultra specs.  Black Friday is the week after release with lots of great discounts on computer components.

Right? I was checking out BF4 max settings GPU/CPU benchmarks and it looks like I should easily be able to max out this game at 40+ FPS so that's good. I would prefer that number be a bit closer to 60+ though.
