You got this impression based in what? In my PC BF4 run in ultra with +60 fps, and no crash in SP. Remember, Bf4 and DA:i use the same engine.

I'm getting the impression based on the fact they've delayed announcing the specs to same week they were originally planning on releasing the game. Meaning either they took a lot of time for extra optimization and it'll run super well, which would be nice, or they just got around to starting relatively last minute.

Or that the process of optimization is not binary, and the more time you spend doing it the better it gets.

I'm currently running a PC I got originally to play Mass Effect. It's nearly 7 years old at this point.

Did you get any upgrades in that time?

DAI isn't coming out until November 18th. BioWare is shooting to have the system requirements out by October 6th. Six weeks before launch to know the system requirements is absolutely incredible, considering the game hasn't gone gold and graphical tweaking and optimization are some of the last things developers do. Everyone should honestly be thankful they are getting the system requirements this early.

I don't understand the rush because if you are merely upgrading, it doesn't require weeks to replace RAM or a graphics card... Also, everyone should have a decent grasp of what the system requirements will be regardless. Mark Darrah said a while back that the system requirements for BF4 are what you should more or less expect with DAI, which makes absolute sense.

I for one am happy for the XBone EA early access thing.

They can beta test the stuff and we get the finalized product a couple weeks later

ea access is 5 days before release not a couple weeks its not even a full week.

I suppose my 7850 will be sufficient. The rest of my setup is fine. I may change the GC for a GTX 770 Twin Frozr if I'm not satisfied with how it runs on High. Price should have dropped by then with the 970 and 980 announcement (the 970 is very interesting for its price but I prefer waiting a few months for more feedback, there are talks about Coil Whine on some of them).

I replaced parts that failed (HDD, RAM, GPU, and PSU). The only substantial change in spec was when I went from 2 8800GTs to just one (one melted), and then when the second one also failed I replaced it with a GTX 560 Ti.

But no real upgrades, no.

Pretty much in the same boat as you, i need a new rig....just need the the requirements so i can over exceed the recommended specs as i like to do.

Will this be the first BioWare game with controller support out of the box? ME series never had it, and their reasoning never made sense to me. I probably won't use the controller myself, but love they are supporting it this time.

Edit: and just to remember, Shadow of the Mordor release their system req just a few weeks(1 or 2) before the release. Every company developer optimize their pc games until few week before the launch

Monolith revealed their requirements way back in April, actually.

Now this comment reminds me of how good msi GPUs are (praised).

I generally fear controller support, because it sometimes means that KBM support. Some games just don't play well with KBM, and I think they'd play better in the absence of controller support.

However, I was glad to hear Mike Laidlaw say that the controls are all remappable on PC (though apparently not console - if I were a console player I'd be angry about that), but I still worry about having multi-use buttons. It should be possible to uncouple those.

No. Shattered Steel, MDK2, and Jade Empire have controller support.

I've decided that I'll be getting the game for my PS4 instead of the PC. The only real selling point for me getting PC versions over consoles, is for visual reasons. But I think there's going to be very little difference between the PS4 and PC's visuals. FPS will probably be better, and maybe oh so slightly barely noticeable better textures.

Well in the GTX 770 Twin Forzr case, we have enough feedback to know that the cooling is efficient and the small form factor (260 mm/10.2 inch) may be important to some setup. Its seems MSI build for the 970 retains the same advantages (269 mm) but again there are still reports of coil whine (it's not just MSI), maybe it's bad luck.

Asus STRIX version seems good too on the 970, Gigabyte cooling is more noisy and not as efficient and the card is longer (312 mm/12.59 inch) but OC is better for example.

I wouldn't blindly trust a particular version, better study the matter card by card. Sapphire R9 280X Tri-X 3G are also still interesting.

Also if sometimes you can just add more ram memory pretty Cheaply. Sometimes it is easier then a new graphics card depending on your rig.

I was a fan of XFX GPUs for ten years (3 GPUs) but now it seems their graphic cards are rare or stopped producing. Now msi cards are great deals. I won't bother myself with others unless the last single one of msi cards are sold in the market!

I had 8600Gt on my previous system and GTS 250 on my current one both made by XFX.

BF4 is pretty demanding on both the CPU and GPU, right? Is Inquisition likely to be about the the same?

I expecting it to be more so because of textures, lighting and fx, etc.
