Ok so just for kicks I thought I would see how a male shep is different from femshep. And to say I grew disappointed in femshep. The emotion male shep shows on mars towards ashley seems more than that of femshep. Am I wrong or are females usually more emotional? Maybe I am missing something as even though I like to play femshep as I am female I feel torn to play male shep for the emotion factor. grrrr . Why did male shep score better dialogue? ![]()
Where's the emotion

pffft that is okay if you're a guy playing male shep. But come on they could've added a lil more for femshep.
I mean really in hospital Male shep says he misses her.
While femshep says get better that's an order. O come on?

I'm pretty sure male Shep says the same lines if he had not romanced Ashley. Same "that's an order" line

This.
Obviously a Shep who is romancing Ashley (male only) is going to have lines that are a little more personal/emotional. That's how it should be.

Ashley's dead to me. DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! By the way, Ashley and FemShep have bad chemistry in like all 3 games which is why I prefer her dead.

Well I have always gone femshep with LI Kaidan. And so there should have been some emotion at the hospital. Not: And that's an order. sheesh really? But on the other there are things I think Kaidan should have done as femsheps LI. Be more of a gentleman. Seems like everyone is there to pick her up and he just stands and watches. What is that all about. Anyway. Thanks for listening to my rants. lol

I just feel that femshep romancing Kaidan should also have lines that are a little more personal/emotional. I am not saying they should have the same ones. Just something a lil more personal/emotional.

If Kaidan inspired any emotion from femShep maybe she'd be a bit more forthcoming with the emotion. She shows emotion with Liara, but that's because blueberry is the canon LI.
Kaidan is the most blah LI in the game for femShep. I tried to romance Kaidan in ME1 and he was blah. I tried in ME3 and he was blah, but at least I never had the chemistry problem I had with Ashley. They gave Kaidan no personality. I romanced Thane in ME2. Thane would have been good, but they killed him. Jacob was wooden and he cheats on you. Unless you romanced Garrus who just was too much like your brother, you were left with: Liara or Samantha.
Ashley misses half the game regardless if you kill her or not. She spends half of it kissing the floor of the observation deck. And thus it is why she is killed in ME1: "Sorry Ash, it's better this way. If you knew what they did to your character in ME3 you'd understand."

Garrus is technically the only straight romance that actually feels satisfying. Thanks to fanservice... not that I'm complaining, but this was a big issue within ME3.

The only emotion Kaidan shows is near the end of the game. Which totally sucks. I hope next Mass effect has some better LI choices

I don't think that's true. He struck me as reserved most of the time, but I did like the subtle hints you get to his emotional state during some dialogue aboard the ship, particularly when he's talking about his father being MIA in Starboard Observation.
Anyway, regarding femShep and Ashley, I found that Shep's tone with Ashley was purposely made less emotional and more stern, as if she's getting fed up with the Cerberus stuff, which is kind of how I like this scene.

Yep he was definitely reserved. Sometimes I wanted to hit him and say "Help a girl up geez". I wanted him to show emotions like male shep does. I never did the femshep/ashley romance. But I guess I can see where she would be less emotional than a man would

Not VA-related, but in the cutscene, Shepard is always very concerned and emotional about Ash/Kaidan, even if he/she didn't care about them at all in all previous games. It's kinda weird

Hang on, you are basing your opinion on one Misson involving a li for mehshep? That's your evidence base?
I would seriously recommend heading back to me1 and starting a femshep from there, and doing a trilogy liara run.
Then come back and post again.
(Note to mike: agreed regards Samantha, however from a trilogy viewpoint I err towards liara for femshep).

*sigh* I suppose I could give it a try. Just wish Bioware had done more with Kaidan as a LI

I've never romanced him, but the few times I have him in ME3, I liked his dialogue especially when talking to him about his parents after he gets back on the Normandy and later after the ex-Cerberus scientists mission

This is a very atypical complaint actually. If anything Hale's performance is usually criticised for being too emotional while Meer's voice work as Sheperd is often judged negatively for the opposite reason. Obviously this wasn't the experience of the OP. I think Ash not being a potential love interest for femshep has a lot to do with this.
My own play through was as femshep. I romanced Kaiden in ME1 and moved on ( not cheated! ) to Garrus in ME2 and ME3. I thought that this trilogy romance arc was handled brilliantly. I agree that femshep is a bit cold towards Kaiden on Mars and to a lesser extent at the hospital later but this made sense for my character. Kaiden and Shepard being former lovers ( the relationship not fully resolved ), ME2 issues concerning Cerberus and Horizon, not to mention the stress they're both currently under make the awkwardness of these scenes understandable. I thought it was good drama. It all got resolved nicely in the Citadel 'sanity check' scene later on aswell.
I think this subplot worked well for me because it fitted my interpretation of the characters, their relationships etc. I probably got lucky with my choices here too. I know other romance arcs didn't fare as well.
I actually detected some of the tension evident on Mars in ME3 way back in the prologue to ME2. Shepard's manner with Kaiden in this brief interaction suggested to me that their ME1 relationship had ended or was at least under strain. I doubt the writers or the actors intended something this subtle but it's how I saw the scene.
I think ultimately it's down to the player's interpretation. Something I like about Mass Effect is how player's can have these kind of takes on the characters and their relationships that weren't even envisaged by the developers.
As I stated though, given what I've heard about some of the other romances I think I got lucky with Kaiden and Garrus.
