It's confirmed that fem!qunaris only have 4 very short hairstyles by Mike Laidlaw on twitter and that these hairstyles are locked. It's also likely that male qunaris will have 4 hairstyles as well.

Why this is an issue?

 

1. The lack of options! Every hairstyle doesn't even come with every horns. Even the hornless qunari has only those 4 options (Also the hornless qunari has small craters/stubs that bothers some). Other races have 20+ options.
2. The lack of quality of hair textures and mesh, they look flat and the hairstyles aren't as good quality as other races have. The quality isn't nowhere near quality of otherwise broad CC.
3. Qunaris in previous DA games, comics and concept art all have white/grey hair that's very different from these options we have now for hairstyles. Even the tarot card for qunari Inquisitor has long white hair. 
4. You can't hide bad hairstyle with helmet since qunari's don't have those.

Many of these styles don't seem like they'd have clipping issues since they aren't long nor they touch the horns. So they should be possible to be animated. These hairstyles are simply gorgerous and it's sad that our qunaris hair as glorious as in these pics.

 

What people are hoping for from BW regarding the issue?

1. Patch that would introduce more options
2. DLC that would introduce more options.
3. Simply hairstyles that have as good quality as other races and maybe are as long as other races have (shoulder-lenght). Options that have more variety and look better.

Better hope the game can be modded since it doesn't seem like they'll budge at this point. The game is only a month away from going gold. Going back to add in a few hair styles will require more hours of testing they just don't have. Remember Qunari were added in after the year delay  so in a sense a lot of their content could be an afterthought even if it was on their drawing board.

I realise this but frostbite is almost impossible to mod and only small portion play with PC. I know this is rather late but they only showed CC to us today. The hair option at the moment are so bad that they very much take a lot of joy of being able to be qunari, it'll be hard to make qunari who would look good with them. So I hope BW will listen to those who want to play qunaris and spend sometime at least improving their hairstyles.

I realise this but frostbite is almost impossible to mod and only small portion play with PC. I know this is rather late but they only showed CC to us today. The hair option at the moment are so bad that they very much take a lot of joy of being able to be qunari, it'll be hard to make qunari who would look good with them. So I hope BW will listen to those who want to play qunaris and spend sometime at least improving their hairstyles.

I think they're bad too, but when I think qunari, I think their horns mean so much more to them.  I can imagine the devs have considered this, you can only have so many hair choices, and with a race where clipping is a serious issue you have to decide whether horns mean more to the race or hair does. There's are about as many horn choices as there are hair choices for everyone else.

 

Plus what would you rather them do at this point of the game, fix bugs so no inquisitor will be plagued with glitching into walls or make sure Qunari showered with maybeline?

how difficult do you think it is to add new hair styles into a game? it takes time sure but its not difficult by any stretch of the imagination

Well I think they said you can change the hairstyle in the more detailed page. But ya I agree, 4 hairstyles is just ridiculous. I mean, destiny has more then that and that games cc is rather simple.

I actually love short hairstyles, I always have short haircut myself but those that fem!qunaris have aren't really good one's even for short hairstyles. There is very much lack of diversity of hairstyles as well, generally from the front you have bald, one corn-crow looking or two corn-crow-looking. So that's big issue for me. If only we had something similar as Cass or Sera I'd be happy. I just feel like DA team could have done lot better and from the qunaris we have already had in previous games + concept art I excepted to that qunaris would have some hair and it wouldn't be issue.

I understand that with the longer hairstyles there will be clipping issues but neck or shoulder lenght should be okay since for example male human Inquisitor has long hairstyles like those. So it's not lenght issue. The horns can be countered with examples I posted, well I'm not animator but I at least think you could do hairstyles that don't touch horns without problems ^^

This is going to be 60-70 € game.. I don't think feedback and hoping for more hair options than 4 is unreasonable. All feedback can't be positive and I don't think negative feedback should be discouraged as long as it's respectful.

Yeah, after viewing the Twitch stream I was just about to come on here and make a thread voicing this exact same concern.  If this is all the hair styles we get for the Qunari females, I don't even want to know how limited the options must be for the Qunari males.  I wasn't happy at all with the hair styles I saw and was displeased even more with the apparent amount.  If this is all there is, I am going to be extremely disappointed. 

 

Every time I see cornrows in a character creator, I roll my eyes.  Honestly, this is next-gen and we still can't get at least medium or short-to-medium length hair for a race that can't even WEAR helmets?

We should be content that they put in the bare minimum and make their characters look like characters?  Yeah, okay.

I would almost have rather had each horn style paired with a different hair style. At least that would have provided some additional diversity.

 

I just find the styles very same-y; all are short and none significantly alter the general shape of the head - they conform to the skull and seem very thin. Had there been more variety in the 4 styles available, that would have helped significantly; as it is now, we have short variant 1 (cornrow), short variant 2 (cornrow plus small bun), mohawk, and no hair, so the amount of customization just feels very small, even if you are changing the horn appearance. Whereas other races get ~20 unique hairstyles, qunari get a choice of 4, each with 4 or so horn variants, so it feels as though there are fewer unique options.

So this issue is literally keeping me up, I'm so disappointed.

For the past, however many years we have been shown - through fanart, comics, and official concept art alike - both female and male Qunari with long white hair...

We have been imagaining, expecting... lead to believe our Qunari would have the long white hair we've come to just... expect from the race. Instead we are given this...

 

 

Where, as far as I can tell, the only palettable hairstyle is BALD? I'm so supremely saddened. To be so thrilled by the horns... and so utterly let down by the rest? Not even separate option bars so we can try to combine the least distasteful hair with our most prefered horns?!

 

I understand time constraints, I understand horn priority... but did NO ONE sit in the design office and say anything about how awfully restrictive and underwhelming the hair is? Modding is going to be HARD this time around! Giving us a decent starting point would have made the modding limitations a little easier to swallow.

 

Now I'm vain, I have and will pay for extra hairdoes in games... I've paid for race changes in MMOs literally for better haircuts. I'm not beyond saying I would pay to have Qunari hairs added at a later date if that is what it takes... but it doesn't make swallowing these any easier.

 

 

I feel so distanced from this race now, it's not like they can even wear helms to hide it! Why couldn't they have the half-shaved undercut? Or the wide faux-hawke shown on the human male? We would take the clipping! Trust us, we would survive the clipping just to make Qunari's look closer to how we've been shown over the years.There's almost no excuse for the dour doo on the hornless Qunari.

The answer to which one is more important to the race as a whole is easy, given that many Tal-Vashoth (for example every single one that appears before DA2) apparently cut their horns to the scalp.

I want to make clear that I don't have issue with horns, those are great and I like how different your horns can be. However the hairstyles are simply underwhelming and too similar to each other. I know that it's very close to actual game release but if BW gets inspired about feedback they might at least release DLC. I'd pay couple euros for qunari hair options.

The game is feature complete and is currently being polished, so it is very doubtful more content will be added to what will appear on the disk. That does not, however, preclude the generation of more content that could be added as a patch or as DLC post-release. If they do provide more customization options in the form of hair, horns, etc., I'm sure people would be willing to pay.

So help me if all the Qunari males have are 6 different versions of Bald/Cornrows there is going to be a serious case of pre-order cancelling around here. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll be able to find out before release.
