The controversy surrounding Qunari hair is clearly a hot topic. We all appreciated Cameron Lee's response, but it didn't come close to addressing our concerns.
Based off of the feedback from this thread, I made a list of some questions most of us here would love for Bioware to answer:
1) Why does the texture of the female Qunari hair look significantly and noticeably worse than any of the other hairstyles? Also, why are the three Qunari hairstyles lacking in volume/detail and why are they all so short?
2) Why couldn't there be separate sliders for the hair & horn options?
2a) If separate sliders are too much to ask for, why, at the very least, couldn't you patch the game (post-release) to ensure that all three of the hairstyles were paired with each type of horn in a single slider? (A lot of people love a particular pair of horns, but HATE the hairstyle attached to it)
(This seems like the easiest quick fix: you wouldn't have to waste much time/resources because no new hairstyle meshes would need to be developed/tested and there wouldn't be clipping issues because the three existing hairstyles already work with the horns...)
3) Did you retcon the lore and remove truly hornless Qunari from the world of Thedas?
(If you remember, Sten was an example of a Qunari possessing a "rare genetic variation" that caused him to be born without horns; hornless Qunari are considered "special" and often act as an envoy to the other races in part because they don't scare people/stand out so much.)
3a) Is there a valid, story-based reason why the Inquisitor is not allowed to be a truly hornless Qunari? Instead, we are expected to make due with unsightly and off-putting "necrotic" craters, as if the horns had been pulled out like rotten teeth...
3b) Why couldn't the hornless female Qunari been given access to a COUPLE of the hairstyles for other races? Please explain how that would pose clipping issues if there aren't any horns to interfere with in the first place.
4) Was it ever your intention to include more options/variety/lengths of hairstyles for the female Qunari in DA:I? Did you run out of time/money or did you encounter serious clipping issues that made it an impossibility to include at launch?
(I only ask because literally every single depiction of female Qunari to date has shown them with long hair... Not only that, but the in-game male Qunari in DA:2 all had long hair)
5) Do you realize that lack of quality/diverse female Qunari hairstyles will easily and almost assuredly be the biggest disappointment in an otherwise fantastic CC?
Feel free to pick and choose which questions you would like to answer (or just continue to ignore us - it's your prerogative). I'd be happy to hear feedback on even ONE of the points addressed above. To date, we haven't been given any sort of explanation, no matter how meager.
P.S. The horns look awesome, Bioware, but I think most fans would rather have 5 awesome horns + 5 unique hairstyles to choose from instead of 10 awesome horns + 3 all-too-similar, short hairstyles to choose from.
P.P.S. Yes, I have too much time on my hands, and yes, I did spend a good part of the weekend complaining about digital hair on the Internet
P.P.P.S. To the people who read this far, I love you. Seriously, though, this thread has allowed me to vent my frustration instead of suffering in silence, which has been very cathartic. Not only that, but I've also found plenty people who were (are?) as excited about playing a female Qunari as I was, and that's awesome!
If you, too, would like for Bioware to answer some of these questions, feel free to quote them in a post of your own with some of your thoughts explaining why the issue is important to you!
