David Gaider has long been burned out on the fanbase. You can tell that he holds at least a large part of it in contempt.

I guess it's not surprising given how the whole Jennifer Hepler thing panned out, and the cesspit that were these forums a few years ago.

That's understable I guess : / It seems like it's hard to have middle route here, ideal situation would be fans who give rational feedback without throwing insults and such and having devs that are willing to listen and maybe evolve games with that feedback ^^

The irony is that "large part" of the fan base is what pays his salary. If you choose to work in an industry that largely depends upon pleasing fans, you'd better be prepared for backlash when you fall short of their expectations.

Obviously Bioware can't make everyone happy, but some of the things we've requested seem like such easy solutions (separate hair/horn slider, allowing "hornless" Qunari to use some of the hairstyles from other races, etc) and yet Bioware doesn't even address them...

What happened to Jennifer Hepler was despicable and unforgivable, but no one here has even come close to crossing *that* line. For the most part we've all respectfully expressed our disappointment regarding the female Qunari hair options and continue to hope that Bioware will add more in a DLC.

I will just have to end up playing as a curly ram-horned Qunari with a mohawk. The mohawk really does not look bad at all to me on a male Qunari, so long as it is black ( to mask the lower quality compared to the hair of the other races ).  Black mohawk + black beard + dark bronze skin tone should look good.

My ideal would have been hornless, but I can live with this other option just fine.  Still a bit sad for you guys who wanted to play as a female Qunari with nice/long-ish hair.

That's *exactly* how I envision my male Qunari looking in my first play through, too :)

And it's nice to see other people sympathizing with our cause even though it doesn't directly affect them!

I'm pretty sure that if it was so easy to provide a separate horn and hair option, they'd have done it. It's most likely an issue with the way the CC is designed, and unlikely to change.

The addition of new options for horns and hair, on the other hand, should totally be doable, especially if they're conversions of existing styles.

How long did it take you to type up that response? Thirty seconds? *That's* all I ask of Bioware. Coming from you it's pure speculation and even though it might make sense, I'd prefer to hear their reasons for not being able to do that.

Though I don't disagree, I do think it's important to remember the guy is human, and there's only so much negativity a person can be confronted with before they check out and decide their attitude has to be dismissive detachment, just to cope. Being prepared/unprepared for backlash on one topic is one thing, getting it from several sides all at once - like so many games often do - is another.

And I say that as someone who does not particularly like Gaider.

I'm glad to see there are still newcomers coming to this thread who agree with us! The more people that give their feedback to Bioware, the better. :)

Glad to be of service! I rarely post here on the BSN, but this is an huge exception! You've definitely got my support here.  ;)

Bioware certainly needs to fix this. It might not be the most important issue, but it's still an issue and important to us fans who want to play as a Qunari.

David Gaider is just a writer, though, and he isn't even involved in the technical animation/decision making process when it comes to CC-related choices (as far as I'm aware).

He CHOSE to inject himself into this controversy with his snarky tweet about how "if only it were as easy to design new hairstyles as it is to draw them on a picture..." (or whatever sarcastic remark he said).

Any negativity he has been on the receiving end regarding the issue of Qunari hairstyles thus far is his fault for not holding his tongue on an issue that doesn't really pertain to him.

Having said that, if I were in his shoes I'd probably have an equally nasty attitude when dealing with people like me :P

*sigh* I didn't notice the little bumps before on those splotches and they look darker than the darkest setting for qunari skin too so so much for the idea of covering the splotches with a darker skin tone. I hate to sound just like I have nothing nice or constructive to say but would it have really been hard to put in a hornless option without the splotches? Wouldn't the splotches have been more work than just no putting anything on the head for a hornless option. Obviously I have no experience in that field so it could be for all I know but it just looks like the splotches and bumps would be more work than giving us a hornless option like Sten (or any other qunari) from DAO.  If I'm dead wrong though please feel free to correct me on it I hate to be putting my foot in my mouth with this.

Maybe they re-envisioned the hornless qunari this way and that's why there is no option for no splotches/bumps?

But aesthetically it's so unattractive.

Why on earth isn't it optional?

If you want to be hornless you have to have those craters on your head?

Well thats a little saddening for me then since I don't like the look of it but I'll just have to deal with not having a hornless qunari. May sound shallow but I don't think I could go the full game having to look at something that to me looks like ink splots on my characters head it would bug me too much to enjoy it.

If Bioware actually retconned their lore regarding "hornless" Qunari, they need to come out and say so... If only so I can lambast their stupidity. From a scientific standpoint, if the hornless Qunari possess a rare genetic trait (which is what their own lore says) that trait would never manifest as necrotic craters that look as though the horns had been pulled out like a rotten tooth.

Either they are born with horns or they have none--meaning a smooth, bald head (see Armaas).
Bioware is the one that came up with the genetic excuse to explain Sten's lack of horns.

I'm just going to mention that I support more hair for qunari and keep out of the arguments.

I will point out it's also lore that some Tal-Vashoth purposely break their horns upon leaving the Qun as a sign of rebellion...

I'm thinking this is that rather that being born without.

Haha trust me, I'm well aware of that fact ;)

I was speaking specifically about the options that Mike Laidlaw called "hornless" in the Twitch demo... They weren't truly hornless a la Sten - it just looked as though their horns had been ripped out. And it looked HIDEOUS.

Lmao, who am I kidding, there's a 99.9% chance that was snark.

Jack's hair cut in Mass Effect 3 is pretty much exactly what I had envisioned for my hornless Qunari warrioress.
Maybe without the ponytail in the back; just a wide mohawk with shaved sides would be fine.

usually I'm not for long hairstyle, but Jack's hairstyle would have been great for my Qunari  horns or not (with horns would be such a badass cut...)

Yessssssssss!!!! That hairstyle would have been perfect for my female Qunari!!!! I like the little wisps that hang down in her face.
Why can't we have something like that??? :(
Would it really be so hard to turn the mudbun into a ponytail?

I actually like the hornless option. It makes them look distinctive and striking. But I do wish there was better hair.

Even if it just appeared fuller and lacked the bald patch, I wouldn't have had a problem with it. I just want something that's fairly practical without being excessively short, that's simple and not trying to appear 'cool' or rebellious like a mohawk.
