May I ask where the bald patch is on the mudbun?

My first thought was that I wanted a hornless style, and the mudbun seems to me the best choice (which is not to say good, at least not at first glance) since it covers up the discoloration/craters that the other hornless hairstyles reveal. But the mudbun style seems the worst in terms of texture, so my second thought was to add some horns to distract from it. Anyhow, aside from this highly circular line of thinking on my part, I was wondering where the baldness was so that I could take that into consideration as well.

Thanks!

Centred directly above the brow where the hair is parted; there's a region about 1cm by 4cm where the scalp shows clearly through. It's similar to how the cornrows start. It's strange because it disappears further back, so it's just that region, front and centre, where no hair seems to grow. It doesn't appear on the one 'true' hornless option, but as far as I can tell there's nothing there that would cause any interference for the horned versions. I just find it a bit distracting.

It reminds me of this:

Spoiler

That's from ME2.  It's one of the hair styles you can use a save editor to get in but as you can see, there's that gap in the middle.  I also noticed a similar gap with the infamous "mudbun" here in DA:I.

Thanks for the clarification! That's a very interesting observation, and one I totally missed. There is a tiny bit of a part on the 'true' hornless option, but it isn't nearly as noticeable as the very same hairstyle with any sort of horns. I wonder how that happened, actually, since I'd assumed that they simply "copied and pasted" hairstyles with various horns...

ETA: I appreciate the image, Natashina!

At this point, I'd more than fine having my lady Qunari be bald.  Just cancerous looking spots have turned me off.  The hair textures are bad, but for now,  those black splotches has indeed effected whether or not I play a female Qunari.  I wasn't planning on playing a Qunari until after I play a dwarf and an elf, so hopefully by then it'll be fixed.

Otherwise, it'll just be a male Qunari for me.  Seeing those black spots in just one cutscene would be too much.  Sure, the hair variety needs work, the hair textures are bad, and I know those things will take time.  However, for now, the black spots are too far.  I could live with the rest if those black spots didn't look so ugly and out of place.  I mean, it doesn't blend in with any other color of the scalp.  Not even a little bit, which they were nice enough to do with the male Qunari.

If you don't mind a darker skin tone, I believe that at least one of the eight will probably be dark enough to blend with those spots. IIRC, the relevant CC video only shows those darker tones with horns, so not really a big help at the moment. (And yet again I find myself wishing that we had early access to the CC menu. <_< )

I don't mind a darker skin tone at all, but the problem is that the only skin tone that seems to hide the spots is ebony black.  I have no objection to playing that skin tone, I have an objection to that being the only skin tone that disguises those blotches.

Completely fair! I think the spots are intriguing as an option, but I wouldn't actually choose them myself either, and I do agree that the current set of choices is restrictive.

I'm supportive, but I am a little happy that this isn't my #1 race choice.  I feel for those that had their hearts set on qunari though, especially the female PC.  :(

Yeah, I was completely torn between qunari and human (which would make a trifecta, since my Warden was human, as was Hawke, of course). I have limited time, so chances are that I'll only end up with one main PC in the long run, even if I play around with a few options short-term, and I suppose it speaks to my pure contrariness that this thread has inspired me to try my best to make qunari work. I'm now prepared for it to be a futile effort, however, and I certainly sympathize with others who wanted to roll fem!qun at any point but are now either seriously rethinking it or completely turned off.

Frankly, though, the hairstyles for other races aren't that much better, which is why I'm not immediately jumping ship to human (or even elf -- the qunari's pointed ears are growing on me ^_^ ). Numbers aside, since they aren't exactly comparable (how many hairstyles is a hornstyle worth?), I'm not impressed with either the fashion or texture for hair in CC or even for several NPCs (Cassandra comes to mind). One could (as several people in other threads have) argued that the new engine is to blame, but then those are the few cases that really work: I'm really liking Josephine's newest hairstyle, for example, and (if she somehow manages not to set her hair on fire with that candle of hers!) I'm looking forward to seeing if it's really as good as it looks in the latest video. That said, in terms of PC/CC the fem!qunari situation seems by far the most egregiously lacking, and I think it's a good opportunity to call the devs' attention to the hair issue in general. Hopefully they'll give it at least some of the work it deserves post-launch. In the meantime, add my name to the list of those who'd pay a reasonable amount for DLC with better hair/horn styles, as long as the dev team takes to heart that "better" doesn't merely mean "more."

Even if it just appeared fuller and lacked the bald patch, I wouldn't have had a problem with it. I just want something that's fairly practical without being excessively short, that's simple and not trying to appear 'cool' or rebellious like a mohawk.

Yeah.

Well I guess I could force myself to use either mudbun or braids. It really depends on my tolerance level though. (that and if I can get those awesome studded horns with it).

Female qunari was what I was most excited about in DAI since it's something we haven't even seen in the game before.. but now I'm not that intrested anymore. I want my female qunari to look amazing and I don't think I can do it with hair options so I guess I will just wait for dlc/patch before playing with qunari. I think I will roll female human first.

Spending time on a plane from Canada to Kenya gave me time to think. You know another HUGE problem I have? The Saarebaas horns only come in bald or mohawk. I think if they came with the clay bun, my problem for my specific femqunari would be sated. But they don't. Sarebaas = no hair apparently.

Those are gorgeous haircuts for the Qunari.

I, for one, am really bummed to see only short styles for my femme Qunari.. Looks very different from how the Qunari are portrayed in the comics, e.g...

Sadly, I'm on console, so I am beyond the powers of mods - but it shouldn't be too difficult to rehash some select human cuts and just let the horns clip thruough. It's just plain lazy.

Don't worry about missing out on mods.  Frostbite is very difficult to mod, and they aren't planning on releasing a toolkit.  It isn't BioWare's call for the toolkit either; that's up to EA.  Frostbite was build by them.  ;)

The whole "console peasant vs PC Master Mustard Race" nonsense isn't going to come into play for Inquisition.  At least not for quite sometime, until more games use this engine.

This is coming from a PC gamer.  I hate that whole thing, since it's yet another reason for gamers to bicker among each other.  Thanks for that, Yahtzee.   <_<

I have always noticed a lack of long wavy hair or long braids. Long hair is very sexy and I can imagine be very popular.

I really, really want my Female qunari to look like this.
Please Bioware make it so!

Looking at the twitch streams they do it seems Human and Elf get long hairstyles, so where are the qunaris? We wanna be sexy too!

Bioware, can our female Qunari Inquisitors have pretty hair like the Arishok? Pleeeeease?

arino.jpg

(Seriously, though, look at the texture and detail of his [long] hair... It's magnificent! If it ended in a short ponytail, like the style Leliana had in the Leliana's Song DLC, it would have been PERFECT!)

*Bioware offers players everywhere a  pet cat to love and to own*

Players: YAY!

Bioware: Oh, but we forgot to mention, it's one of those Egyptian hairless cats.  You know, the real creepy ones that would probably frighten small children.

Just thought I'd throw in my support for this topic. I was very much looking forward to creating a femqun for my second character and was thoroughly underwhelmed by what I saw of the femqun CC in the video. Hopefully Bioware has seen this thread and at least considered more hair options in line with the artwork they've released to date.

You know what they say...what game doesn't give you the mod will  ;)

But honestly as for me I can work with current hairstyles just fine without any mod, simple reason is I want to make my female qunari looking like Desire Demon and for that I just need one hairstyle pretty much...bald one  :D
