I'm really disappointed with the FemQunari hairs.

This may be an echo chamber in the grand scheme of things, but you only have to look at the qunari hairstyle options to see that they're sub-par, so I seriously doubt we're the only ones who feel this way.

  

Agreed. But it's just bizarre that Bioware refuses to answer any of our other questions (like why we can't have separate sliders for hair/horns and why a hornless female Qunari can't have access to other races' hairstyles)... Allowing either of those things seems to me to be an easier fix than releasing a separate DLC with new hairstyles.

Hopefully someone from Bioware is still keeping an eye on this thread, even if they no longer post in it...

I just did a quick look through the CC images posted here, and counted 24 options (ignoring repeated images). By the numbers:
 
Bald options: 7 of 24 (29%)
Mohawk options: 6 of 24 (25%)
Mini (mud)-bun options: 6 of 24 (25%)
Cornrow options: 5 of 24 (21%)
Broken horns (excluding fully filed): 8 of 24 (33%)
 
Now, that means that nearly a third of the options involve no hair at all. It means a full third of the options involve broken horns. That's... a lot for what are likelly to be fringe options. It means if you don't want your qunquisitor to sport a waxed head or a mohawk, 54% (over half) of the available options are lost to you. It means that if you don't like scullcap hairstyles, you get... well, nothing. Nil. Nada. Zip all. Someone over there really doesn't like dealing with hair, or just didn't consider it to be a priority at all.

It's disappointing to see the actual breakdown of the numbers. :'(

It's Jack's concept art for ME2. I think many of them would work for qunaris too, the one's with sides shaved and then some would work if the horn part was shaven off from the style

 

Of cource medium long hair would be nicest but short hair can be awesome. Sadly I don't think that's case on current styles.

Something like 4 or 5 was what I was originally planning for my female qunari though I would have happily gone with 10 or 8 for her as well very lovely. Short and messy yet still cute.

My personal favourite is the following combination:

Hair + unbroken horns: 9 of 24 (36%).

 

That means that the options representing 'normal' looking qunari (as far as they've been depicted in-game and in concept art), when taken together, amount to just slightly more than a third of the existing options. And that's not even considering the type of hairstyle or horn shape, just that you want hair and unbroken horns period.

 

Now, I may be projecting my own biases here, but I would have thought this combination would be the most popular for players thinking of making a qunari character. 36% is an unjustifiably small percentage, considering how broad the category is. Plus, what starts out as a selection between 9 options decreases extremely rapidly once you start displaying any actual preferences within the set.

 

For example, say you don't like mohawks. For every other race, that would mean you decrease your available options by 1 out of 24, assuming a similar number of overall slider options - that's a paltry 4%. You still have 96% left to pick through, which gives you enough leeway to be even more descriminating, and losing another 4% won't cause anyone to bat an eyelash.  Do the same for qunari, and you're down a quarter of your available options after the first dismisal. You run out of wiggle room really quickly. That's a massive discrepency.

 

 

 

Addendum:

 

For players that have a preference for hairstyles, their choices become constrained by the most limiting variable, which is hair. The 24 slider options cannot be considered independently. There are 4 "unique" options, and within each, there are different horn availabilities. But it still comes down to 4 core options. They all might have a bit of variability within them, but it's a case of pseudoreplication. There are only 4 distinct selections. Compare that to the 20+ unique options that other races get. Plus they get tattoos.

2, 5 and 9 would work best for me, 5 especially for my male Qunari. Note, I am terrified to see what Qunari look like in the mudsuit.

Though I adore Jack, to no end, I did not envision my Qunari with her kind of short styles. I had hoped for the mandatory shoulder-length limit, with a bit of wave.... dreads mostly. Something softer than Jack.

I believe we've already seen it, actually. There is a split second lag in one of the early gameplay videos where we see the female qunari inquisitor's inventory. She is shown wearing the same casual outfit seen on the human inquisitor in the most recent Skyhold twitch before her mage armor appears instead, as it should have in the first place.

 

I'll try to dig up the videos and timecodes.

As I said, it's extremely similar (especially the pants) to the casual Skyhold outfit shown on the human inquisitor in the latest twitch. Obviously there's no guarantee, especially since the video above is from an alpha build, but I think the similarity is highly suggestive.

Here I screened it when the vid came out.

 

I hope this is still the casual outfit for the Qunari in these colours. I hated the colour of the femquisitors outfit in the skyhold demo. If that one is just for humans it would give me hope that the other races at least will look at least a little bit better than the human did.
